Chapter 25: Battle of Life-and-Death
York had not seen this guy before. It was obvious that he was not an undead enslaved by the Lich.
However, it was easy to guess that he was most likely attracted by the sounds of the hundreds of undead fighting here.
The undead were born to kill. The only meaning of their existence was to keep killing other undead to increase their strength.
Therefore, the easiest way to attract the undead was to smell blood and death.
York looked at the Headless Horseman without blinking, his scarlet eyes filled with desire.
Such a powerful elite monster was a gift that came to him.
Whether he killed it directly and absorbed it with the [Devour] skill or took it as a minion, there was no reason for York to let it go.
Without hesitation, York charged with his huge sword.
Sensing the cold wind, the Headless Horseman, who had been wantonly killing the other undead, suddenly raised his spear to block.
Clang!
A violent metal collision sounded, and surging sparks flew in all directions on the battlefield.
York turned around and retreated, his eyes wary.
The timing of the Ghost Slash was perfect, but it was still blocked. It was obvious that the Headless Horseman was not simple.
Sensing the pressure from York, the Headless Horseman ignored the other undead and raised his spear at York.
[Headless Horseman]
[Level]: 45
[Status]: Health Points 1500, Magic Power 1300
[Attributes]: Constitution 105, Strength 103, Intelligence 101, Agility 150
[Skills]: Death Charge, Dark Judgment, Undead Enrage, Deterrence of the Dead
The Headless Horseman’s four attributes were basically the same as York, but its health and magic power were about three times that of York under the enhancement of its high level.
York dared not be careless even though he had just killed a Level 45 Lich.
He knew that the Headless Horseman was much stronger than the Lich.
Moreover, York could win the previous battle because of luck and a timely sneak attack.
After a short confrontation, the Headless Horseman’s entire body shimmered with a faint black light. The warhorse neighed and turned into a flash of light that charged at York.
So fast!
While York was shocked, his skeleton body pounced to the side.
A cold hurricane whistled past him, and a loud rumble suddenly sounded behind York.
After rolling on the ground a few times, York quickly stood up and looked behind him.
Dense smoke and dust pervaded the air, leaving two black marks on the ground. Light electric arcs could be vaguely seen.
The Headless Horseman rushed out hundreds of meters. Wherever he passed, all the undead creatures were smashed into a pile of bones.
Looking at the tragic scene, York could not imagine what would have happened if he had been hit head-on.
Without giving York a chance to catch his breath, the Headless Horseman crouched on his horse a hundred meters away. He held his spear in front of him and charged forward again.
Although the Headless Horseman was fast, York’s agility was more than a hundred. Coupled with his excellent reaction speed, he dodged again.
Therefore, more than a hundred undead creatures at the edge of the battlefield were killed in an instant.
…
The Headless Horseman used the same method again and again, charging at York with the power to destroy everything.
York’s agility was too low to catch up to the Headless Horseman. He was slowly being beaten up.
However, York had rich combat experience. He could barely dodge the Headless Horseman’s assault each time.
Despite that, York knew very well that dodging alone could not win the battle.
If he was even accidentally struck once, he would suffer great damage.
Moreover, he realized that as time passed, the Headless Horseman’s speed seemed to increase.
“I have to find a way to turn things around.”
York looked at the Headless Horseman, who was 100 meters away. He gritted his teeth and charged forward.
The Headless Horseman did not care about York’s suicidal behavior. He rode his skeletal warhorse and transformed into a black lightning bolt that charged at York.
100 meters…
50 meters…
30 meters…
Just as the two sides were about to collide, York suddenly jumped up and slashed at the Headless Horseman.
Caught off guard, the Headless Horseman raised his spear to block.
With immense kinetic energy and York’s physical strength, both the Headless Horseman and York fell from the warhorse.
After tumbling for dozens of meters, two figures landed on the ground in a sorry state. They had suffered considerable damage.
York propped himself up with his sword and, without a moment’s respite, staggered toward the Headless Horseman.
The Headless Horseman also waved his spear and fought with York.
Clang! Clang! Clang! Clang!
The two of them fought like knights in a battle. In just a few moments, more than a hundred moves were exchanged.
In a life-and-death battle, all words were useless. York enjoyed the feeling of fighting seriously. Under his white skeletal body was a cold and bloodthirsty heart.
The low-level undead creatures around had already fled, knowing that this was no longer a battle they could participate in.
Even if undead creatures were generally cold-blooded and bloodthirsty, they would still choose to submit when faced with an irresistible force.
After all, no one wanted to die, not even the undead..
