Doctor Resignation - Chapter 10
“…Thank you.” (Erhan)
Erhan came to my room and said thank you in person while clearing his throat.
“I’m feeling much better.” (Erhan)
“Absolutely. Who do you think prescribed it.” (Lise)
“Weren’t you tired that day? Nursing me all night.” (Erhan)
“Well, it was hard indeed, keeping on injecting herbs infusion, observing the mana flow… changing the wet towels and… when you’re having a nightmare, holding your hand to calm down your raging mana discharge.” (Lise)
“But I slept well thanks to you. I’ve never had such a good night’s sleep.” (Erhan)
“A good night’s sleep is a necessary condition for health. Did you sleep well last night?” (Lise)
Erhan shook his head slowly.
“I want to sleep well again…. but I don’t want you to be exhausted because of me.” (ryu: no baby no no no we all love you)3
With my eyes shining because my efforts gave good results, I said to him.
“There’s a way to get a good night’s sleep even If I don’t do all that.” (Lise)
“What is it?” (Erhan)
“Are you going to listen to me?” (Lise)
“…Yes.” (Erhan)
“Really?” (Lise)
I put out my little finger.
“When I say listen to me, you have to do it unconditionally.” (Lise)
“…For the time being.” (Erhan)
He grabbed my little finger slowly.
The condition was ‘for the time being,’ but I laughed with joy inwards anyway.
‘I’ve got you now!’
Now I had to train him to listen to me better than Wederick does.
“If you’re done eating, let’s go out first. You need to move your body and receive some sun.”
After the short tea time was over, I led Erhan by the wrist. The weather was nice and the sun was warm today.
“Would you like to run over there with me?”
Erhan’s disease is a chronic one, and his current immunity level was terrible. If a 13-year-old doesn’t move and doesn’t eat properly, his health will inevitably be poor.
“You’ll have a hard time at first because you don’t move a lot, so eat this first…”
I fed Erhan some herbal medicine to strengthen his physical ability while he blinked. He spent most of his time lying in bed, so for the time being, this prescription will be necessary to make it possible for him to exercise lightly.
Still, last time when we played ball, I thought he was good at sports, so he might start to have fun right away.
I planned to make these simple things a little bit easier for him before handing him over to the Knights when he gets a little stronger. After all, knights will be better than me in building his body through training.
Likewise, it was Erhan’s room.
I was thirteen years old, and likewise, a thirteen years old Erhan was sleeping beside me.
“It must be just a silly dream…”
I tried to let go of the hand I was holding to go back to my room, but it won’t detach because of how strong his grip was, even if he was sleeping.
I wrestled and groaned on my own, and when I finally pulled out my hand and returned to my room, the hazy dream I had was all forgotten.
