Doctor Resignation - Chapter 39
“Don’t lie to me. I’ve never done that before.”
“I’m sure you did.” She shook her head. “Not often, but occasionally. It happens when the changed present resonates with the future. Give some thought to it. There must be. I’ve had a few dreams myself too.”
“Really?”
“Of course.”
“What did you dream about?”
Kancia answered nonchalantly. “A dream, I guess.”
“So you’re saying you’ve dreamed about the future?”
“Very often. But those dreams are unnatural, so the lady won’t remember and forget them right away.”
I was a realistic person in the first place, so I don’t bother myself with any dream. That’s why I’ve never tried to remember any single dream I’ve had.
“From now on, record it as soon as you wake up. It’ll be forgotten in no time, but if you want to know the future, you should try at least.”
“…okay.”
The reason why I somehow stuck to Kancia was because the word “side effect” kept bothering me.
However, if it was just a dream, it seemed like I didn’t have to pay much attention.
“So you’re saying there won’t be any health problems, right?”
“You should’ve known that better than me. The genius doctor doesn’t even know her own body?”
Kancia yawned and stretched.
“Then I’ll get going…”
“Wait a minute.” I grabbed Kancia by the wrist. “You don’t think that your answer to my questions already costs 4,500 gold, right?”
“What?”
“The 4,500 gold I’ve spent was because of you anyway. In other words, the money you’ve stolen from the sailors was mine.”
Kancia tried to shake off my hand, glanced at my escort knights standing at the entrance, and sighed.
“I’m not telling you to return the money. I’m not even asking you to pay it back. Just do me a favor.”
“What is it?”
“I’ve told you one more wish in prison.”
“…what was it?”
“I don’t know my biological parents. Help me find them.”
“And how do I find them?”
“You said you couldn’t find them at that time because your crystal ball was broken. But now that you’ve turned back time, it probably hasn’t broken either.”
“Ha.” Kancia let out a sigh. “You’re really smart.”
“Yes, I’m very very smart. I’m a genius.”
“However… the crystal ball hasn’t come into my hands yet. We’re still far from the future.”
“Then how do you find that crystal ball? If I find it, can I also use it myself?”
“My lady is neither a gypsy nor a magician. You won’t be able to find it or use it.”
As I stared at her with disbelief, Kancia grabbed her chest as if she was wronged.
“I’m telling you the truth. The crystal ball could show the past of a particular person you want… It’s so valuable that there are only a few people who can handle it even among Gypsies.”
“Then Kancia must be someone with great powers…” I sighed and asked, “So why do you live like this?”
“Why? I’m satisfied with my life. Even If I go back 10,000 times, I’ll live like trash.”
“Fine. Do whatever you want.”
In a different sense, she was a very consistent and confident person. If so, I didn’t intend to give any admonition to her decisions.
“Anyway, when can you find the crystal ball?”
“Maybe in three or four months? I’m not sure.”
“Then please show me my biological parents when you find the crystal ball. Everything would be solved if we just looked at the time when I was born, right?”
“Well, I suppose so.”
Kancia scratched her chin and answered roughly.
“Or you can just pay me back the 4,500 gold.” I said urgently.
“Alright, alright. I’m doing it.”
She slurred without looking me in the eye. I couldn’t believe her words, that’s why I pressed again for an answer.
“Then why aren’t you asking me where I live? You’ll have to come to see me if you’re going to show me, right?”
“Where do you live?”
I touched my forehead at the insincere question. I have no confidence in accepting promises from a gypsy who was insincere and who could lie well.
It was impossible to deal with people who lived like trash and had nothing to lose or want.
“It’s the Duke of Casseus. I’ll tell them in advance that if someone named Kancia comes, they’ll have to lead you to me unconditionally.”
“You’ve found a good place… Wait, no it’s not. You didn’t run away? You know it’s going to go down soon.”
“I’m going to save it myself. I’m soft-hearted and I can’t bear to see it go down just like that.”
“……”
“If you bring the crystal ball to show me my biological parents, I’ll give you another 5,000 gold.”
“Alright.”
Kancia nodded slowly.
“I’ll go and think about it. Who knows if I’ll urgently need some money by then.”
As expected, she was a person who wasn’t trustworthy enough to be tied with something like this.
Her wrist was still held tightly by me.
A moment later, I narrowed my eyes and laughed.
“Kancia.”
“What is it this time?!”
“I think you’ll be very sick in half a year.”
“What?”
It was a conclusion drawn after I quickly checked the pulse felt on her wrist.
“Where am I sick? Is it very serious?”
Kancia asked desperately as if she believes in my medical skills unconditionally.
“What? What is it?”
I casually shrugged.
“I’m not sure.”
Receiving the same vague words back at her, her expression became strange.
“I can only give you more details once the symptoms occur.”
I said leisurely as I looked at Kancia’s narrowed eyes.
“Come to the Duchy by then. Because me being a genius doctor is an unchangeable fact.”
“Liar!”
Kancia got annoyed.
“You’re doing this because of the crystal ball, right? Do you think I’m going to visit you? There are so many doctors in the world!”
“Yes, there are many.” I answered calmly. “But there’s only one Lise Estelle.”
Letting go of Kancia’s wrist, I folded my arms and leaned my back on the chair’s backrest as if it was fine if she decides to leave right away.
“I’ll think about treatment once you come and show me the crystal ball.”
I couldn’t stop myself roasting her, giving the taste of her own medicine.
As Kancia stared at me, she jumped up and walked out of the store. Whether or not she would come, I hummed while drinking tea.
It’s a disease caused by mana dysfunction, so she’ll have no choice but to come looking for me.
‘I wouldn’t have been so cheap if you’ve just cooperated in the first place…’
I sighed, and after a while, I noticed that my bracelet had disappeared.
I don’t know when, but she must have done it secretly.
‘This grandma doesn’t know how to use her hands properly…’
There was a reason why she proudly said she was garbage.
‘See you again with the crystal ball within half a year, Kancia.’
I decided not to think I was sleazy anymore.

Diel anxiously sneaks at the window of the fifteenth store.
‘Really, what are you trying to do…?’
He always tries to do his best under Viscount Arga, but it was the first time he was given a task involving the Imperial Family.
He had received information from the navy that the Crown Prince would be in a quiet and deserted place because he was not interested in street entertainment.
‘Would it be okay if you get entangled with them for no reason?’
It was natural that he was worried, but he was also excited at the same time.
Whenever Lise asked him to do something unimaginable, unexpected incidents always occurred. At first, she won’t even give him reasons, but it always unfolds as the situation and the results were shown.
‘Well, isn’t it the same with Viscount Perelman?’
The first time Arga asked him to be the friend of his 13-year-old assistant, he was just interested. But now he thinks it was more fun to be next to Lise than Arga.
‘Still… If she entangles herself with the imperial family, something bigger than I thought could happen, I don’t know if she can handle it. She’s a commoner anyway.’
Diel sighed and looked around.
He didn’t think Lise would fail to do anything. Rather, he was worried that the imperial family would overthink the matter.
‘Oh, he’s here.’
It’s been two hours since he’s been searching through the Free City.
Through the window of a quiet, deserted cafe, Diel found a silver-haired man sitting upright as he read a book.
He memorized the store name and started running to the place he had promised with Lise. Contrary to his endless worries, his body was faithfully following her instructions.

As soon as I heard that Diel had found the prince, I made Diel carry a lot of luggage and set out on the road right away. I also didn’t forget to tell him what he had to do on the way.
“D0- do you have to go that far?”
“Yes. You memorized it, didn’t you?”
“I memorized it, but…”
“Good luck, Diel.”
“…yes.”
“Your role is really important.”
Diel seemed to feel uncomfortable about acting in front of the crown prince.
However, he sighed and nodded when I said, “Please.”
Prince Jade was reading a book in a high-end cafe in a pretty corner of the Free City. When I arrived, there were several employees in front of the store.
‘My prediction is correct too.’
It didn’t seem like just anyone was allowed inside.
“Wait for a second, young lady.”
It was when I raised my head and tried to enter the store. One of the waiters guarding the front of the store blocked my way.
