Doctor Resignation - Chapter 4
“Of course, my lord.”
“I am also quite busy personally too.”
His personal problem of work was probably about finding his lost daughter.
“My assistant always stayed in the Duke’s manor. If there is a problem with the medical prescription, call me immediately. I am sure you are not stupid.”
“Of course.”
I nodded calmly as I ate my last pudding.
“If a doctor are deem to be stupid, it would cause a huge trouble, my lord.”
“Fortunately, I don’t think you are stupid at all. Standby tomorrow, I will be introducing you to Her Grace Duchess Cercius and His future Grace, Erhan Cercius.”
He made a simple gesture like a sign as if he was calling a servant to do something.
Soon, three plates of pudding were served in front of me.
“If the pudding tastes that good, you should ask for more and don’t eat it little by little. I hardly see your struggle.”
Struggle?
‘Wah, he really has that talent where people can hardly say thank you to him.’
It would be nice if you said that I am good rather than useful.
Maybe he really said that he misunderstood my sulky reaction.
“Today is quite difficult. Baron Ishid and Young Master Wederick are here today, so we are busy enough.”
I was chewing my precious pudding before literally almost bit my tongue by mistake.
‘Wederick? Erhan’s cousin? The one who started the rebellion and brought this Dukedom to ashes?!’
If I have no sense of commitment and duty as a doctor, I would be planning to kill him.
Medical’s knowledge has a lot of poison’s learning area. And I already mastered them.
Too bad, I have my own self-respect.
‘It’s a knowledge that I have learnt to save people. Not killing them.’
Even if it is a personal grudge nor changing the future, I wouldn’t want to kill people with my knowledge.
‘So now, Wederick is here with his father.’
I remembered the time when they easily took control of everything almost in a split second. I gritted my teeth in a regretful manner.
‘If I thought about this, the situation itself was suspicious. It was as if they were planning to rebel from the very beginning.’
It was indeed peculiar, as if the Baron was waiting for Erhan’s death. He even entered the Duchy with Wederick as his only child.
Furthermore, the complicated process of discussing about aristocrats’ heir would take about a month or two. But, when Erhan died, the process of choosing the heir was decided almost immediately.
And the very next day, they declared that they will be joining the rebellion troops.
One of the philosophers once said that if something has been prepared for a long time, it would definitely be a success. It sounds like they were scheming from the start.
“Yes.” (Lise)
“I can’t allow you yet because it’s too complicated-” (Jenny)
“I’ve already memorized the location of the manor.” (Lise)
I strode across the garden after leaving her behind.
