Dragon Under the Bed - Chapter 3
“Aah, that evil bitch. I can’t believe you’ve finally made me run errands in this kind of weather.”
It was no use using an umbrella because of the strong rain and wind. If Milena hadn’t asked her to pick up Christian’s boots, she wouldn’t have gone out in this heavy rain. What’s worse was that the rain grew stronger and stronger.
It was a big deal if even the boots were wet when she arrived, so Lynn crouched down, holding the box of boots in her arms. The surface of the box was already wet and damp.
‘This is not good.’
Lynn looked around, wondering if there was any place to hide until the rain stopped. At that moment, something caught Lynn’s eyes.
<Feel the amazing power of the magical plant; Snowa Rose, the secret of clear and transparent skin!>
It was a flyer advertisement by a cosmetics store.
‘There’s Snowa rose cream here, too.’
Snowa roses were difficult to obtain, so there were very few places who deal with them. Lynn was able to get it because she had her own technique, but the owner of this store also seemed to be quite skillful.
‘I heard that warrior-nim likes cream made with Snowa roses.’
As long as Christian was happy, she wanted to get whatever she could and give it to him as a gift.
Lynn entered the store without hesitation.
“Welcome.” The impressive owner greeted her.
Lynn left her umbrella at the entrance and went inside.
“About the Snowa rose cream.”
“You saw the flyer. Are you going to use it, miss?”
“No. My master likes it.”
“Aah, you’re going to give it to your boss. It’s a new product, but it’s so popular that there are only two left.”
The owner took out a sample cream and showed it to her. Lynn also put down the box containing the boots, took the cream and smelled it.
“The scent is unique, what’s in it?”
At the time, there was the sound of the door opening behind her. The owner greeted the person over Lynn’s shoulder, saying, ‘Welcome,’ and continued the consultation.
“I don’t know because it’s not made in our store. However, since it is made and sold at Murrell Company, there is no doubt about its efficacy.”
The Murrell Company, which was considered to be the best company of the continent, was so reputable that its name alone guaranteed its quality. Lynn, who was personally associated with Murrell Company, knew that, of course.
“Umm, even so, I’d like to know for sure, because my master is allergic to lavender.”
The faint scent of lavender caught her attention.
“Then do you want me to ask the company? … Hm?”
A look of surprise suddenly appeared in the owner’s eyes, who had glanced behind her to take care of the guest who came later. In the end, he left Lynn alone and jumped to his feet and shouted,
“You must be Lord Lairsey, the warrior!”
What! Lynn turned her head away in surprise, as well.
A handsome, tall man stood at the entrance. He covered his whole body with a raincoat made of black and shiny material, but nevertheless, when he took off the hat attached to the raincoat, the dull atmosphere flew away at once. It was as if a small sun had entered the store.
Wet blonde hair was flowing down over the straight forehead, and even the drops of water dripping from the tips of his hair seemed to be colored with gold. His wet cheeks were pale because the raincoat could not protect it, and the blue eyes staring straight at her, made her felt a chilling pressure on her stomach.
‘Oh my god!’
Lynn covered her mouth. Otherwise, she felt as if cheers seemed about to burst out her mouth.
So far, there had been many cases of her watching, peeking, sneaking, or hiding from Christian, but it was the first time she had faced him properly. And Christian wasn’t even a looking at the shopkeeper, but was looking exactly at her.
When their eyes met from such a close distance, Lynn couldn’t take her eyes off him.
“It’s an honor, Lord Lairsey!”
The owner, who hastily stepped out from inside the counter, stepped forward and blocked her view. Thanks to that, she managed to get her act together.
Why did warrior-nim come to such a small cosmetics store?
“Excuse me.”
A soft voice penetrated her ears.
“Don’t worry, I’ll take my time looking around.”
“No, no, you can’t! oh goodness, you’re drenched. First, dry up with this…..”
The owner hurried to offer a warm tea. It was a very different hospitality than when Lynn came in, but from the owner’s point of view, it couldn’t be helped. If the rumors spread that Christian bought some cream from this store, people from all over the capital, both men and women, would come.
The owner asked Lynn for her understanding and went inside to prepare the tea.
Lynn stood up to greet Christian. She was so excited that she didn’t realize she had forgotten a very simple fact. As she moved, Christian looked at her again.
‘Woaah…!’
The sound of her heart exploding seemed to ring in her ears. A shiver rose, and goosebumps welled up on her forearm. Suddenly, Christian frowned and walked over to Lynn. As he got closer, she could feel that his physique was quite large.
Lynn already knew Christian’s height and weight, as well as his three sizes. But feeling with her senses was quite different from knowing information. She had to raise her head for quite a bit to see his face.
Even though he was wearing a raincoat, she could clearly feel the stiffness of his body, which had been strengthened by exercise. Lynn felt like she was going to be swallowed up by him as he approached.
Christian came right in front of her and held out the towel the shopkeeper had just given her. Lynn, unaware of the meaning, looked at the towel with a puzzled face. Then, a polite voice rang over her head.
“You can use this, Lady.”
“……?”
Lynn looked at Christian with a puzzled face. ‘Lady’?, And belatedly realized what she had missed.
‘He doesn’t know my face!’
Lynn had changed a lot, from when she met Christian before. In addition, even though Milena usually left Lynn with one thing or another, she must have taken care of Christian by herself when he was home, so it was understandable that he didn’t know her face.
‘What do I do?’
Christian, who was looking closely at Lynn, who was in agony, opened his mouth.
“By the way… have we met somewhere before?”
Christian stood on a foothold in front of the entrance and waited for a while because the droplets from the raincoat were about to form a spring. There was a female customer who came first in the store.
‘Where’s the rose cream?’
The reason he came in was because of a leaflet posted outside the store. Christian didn’t even know there was such a rose in the world until he tried the cream made by the new maid.
As a result of belated interest, he recently found that, not only did they succeed in growing roses that only grow in the northern Snowa kingdom, Murrell Company had also made and sold them as cosmetics.
Christian also became interested in the Murrell Company’s cream, as he saw the cream effect made by the maid. However, word of mouth quickly spread among fashion-conscious ladies, and it was hard to get the stock.
“Umm, even so, I’d like to know for sure, because my master is allergic to lavender….”
A refreshing voice, looking for rose cream, penetrated Christian’s ear.
Christian looked at the back of the woman who had passed by casually. The woman’s hair, tied high from the top of her head, was a rare strawberry blonde.
He had often seen red-toned blondes, but it was the first time he had ever seen such sweet-sour-pink blondes in his life. Nevertheless, it was strange that the woman’s voice felt familiar.
‘Where did I hear it?’
Christian took off the hat that was attached to his raincoat, groping for a memory that he could not recall. Then the owner who recognized him jumped to his feet.
“You must be Lord Lairsey, the warrior!”
And before the owner’s words had finished, the woman also turned her head his way with great speed. Christian then saw the woman’s face.
She was a young woman who looked to be in her twenties. Even though she was wearing a plain dark blue dress, she looked bright like a flower in full bloom because of her lovely hair color and transparent skin that seemed to radiate light from within.
From the look of surprise, she seemed to know ‘Warrior Christian Lairsey Etchenge’.
“It’s an honor, Lord Lairsey!”
The delighted shopkeeper jumped into view and Christian had to turn away from the woman. Even while he was trying to dissuade the owner to bring him tea, his nerves kept turning to the woman. He also felt that the woman was staring at him.
Eventually, the owner went inside, saying he was going to bring the tea.
Christian, who suddenly overtook the first customer and stepped in, looked at the woman with a humble feeling. But as he looked closely, the woman’s hand was shaking.
‘Is she cold?’
Unlike Christian, who wore a raincoat, the woman’s dress was completely wet under the waist. It seemed like she needed the towel, which the owner gave to wipe his body, more than himself.
Christian approached and reached out to hand over the towel that had not yet been used.
“You can use this, Lady.”
The woman opened her eyes wide and looked up at him, perhaps not expecting concessions.
Looking closer, the light green pupils nestled inside the dense eyelashes were clearly visible to him. It was a refreshing color reminiscent of young leaves that had begun to sprout in spring.
Bathump! Bathump! Bathump!
Suddenly, he felt like his eyes were spinning. A cold sweat ran down his back and his heart raced. Even his hands and feet trembled.
Christian was greatly embarrassed by the physical changes that occurred the moment he looked into the beautiful eyes of a woman he had never seen before.
‘Why am I like this?’
He had a strong feeling that he had seen those pale green eyes somewhere.
Christian asked impatiently.
“By the way… have we met somewhere before?”
“Pardon? I–I don’t know.” The woman stuttered and avoided his gaze.
He asked again, wondering why she was bewildered.
“Strange. If I’ve seen a beauty like you, I wouldn’t forget. Those eyes, I’m sure I’ve seen them somewhere….”
“You’re mistaken.”
The restless woman interrupted Christian from speaking further. Then she said, ‘Excuse me,’ and hurriedly ran outside as if running away.
‘What?’
Christian, who was left behind, was stunned. Since they’ve talked to each other, there was nothing to run away for, or not.
‘Ah, perhaps!’
Christian’s pupils shook.
‘Did she think I was playing tricks on her?’
He asked where he had ever met her, and said that she was an unforgettable beauty.
Christian thought that he’d met her before, but couldn’t recall when, so he asked the question out of frustration, but it was enough to mislead the other party.
Maybe she thought she was being harassed.
Christian saw an umbrella left behind in the umbrella stand at the entrance. She wasn’t even wearing a raincoat. How threatened she must have felt to run out without taking her umbrella when it rained like this.
“You’ve waited long, right? W–Where? Are you going!”
The owner who came out with the steaming tea shouted from behind, but Christian didn’t even say anything, grabbed the woman’s umbrella and hurriedly followed her.
