Chapter 35: Obsessed With Planting
Zhang Bei looked at the chili peppers and thought to himself, “If there’s garlic, that would be really good.”
He had an idea. How about he looked for seeds in Exchange Platform today and planted them?
Zhang Bei was a doer. He first planted the chili peppers, then burned the fur on the hooves and tail that were placed in the tent. He rubbed them until they were clean. Then, he placed them together with the previous meat.
After doing this, Zhang Bei opened the Exchange Platform and began to search for some plant seeds.
Firstly, he searched for garlic because he already had meat in his hand. If he wanted to eat meat, he had to have garlic, a seasoning that could remove the smell.
Zhang Bei searched for a long time and finally found garlic. He quickly sent a message to ask the other party’s price.
“Hello, are you online?”
The other party replied within a few seconds. “Yes, do you want to buy the garlic?”
“Yes, yes. What do you want for the head of garlic?”
“I want two days of food.” The other party thought for a while and replied.
Zhang Bei frowned. ‘Isn’t it too greedy to try to trade a head of garlic for two days’ worth of food?’
The other party saw that Zhang Bei did not reply. He then messaged. “I have an entire bag of garlic here. I will only exchange it for two days worth of food. Do you want to trade?”
Zhang Bei thought that he was asking for two days worth of food for just one head of garlic, and had not expected it to be an entire bag. Then, he immediately confirmed the transaction, and a bag of garlic appeared on his side.
He opened the bag and swallowed hard at the pungent smell of garlic.
Then, he took out 5-6 cloves of garlic and planted them in the pots in the greenhouse. Then, he poured some diluted growth agent on them, and green garlic sprouts soon grew out.
Zhang Bei took off a piece of garlic sprout and put it in his mouth, chewing hard. The delicate fragrance of the garlic sprout stimulated his taste buds and caused them to explode. He felt dizzy.
How long had it been since he had eaten such a taste? His thoughts seemed to return to Earth. During the new year, his mother had served him plates of dumplings.
He shook his head, and started watering the other plants before returning to the tent. He took out the bull tail and hooves that he had previously cleaned and put them in the fridge.
Zhang Bei picked some garlic sprouts and tomatoes, then picked a few chilli peppers and put them aside.
After the bull hooves and tail froze, Zhang Bei chopped them into pieces.
He had started a fire long ago, and it was burning fiercely. He placed an iron pot on the flames. When the pot was hot, he put some coconut oil into the pot. When the oil was hot, he added some sugar.
When the sugar turned brown, he put in the bull tail and the hooves. After stir-frying it a few times, he poured two bottles of mineral water in, then threw in the garlic, chili, and tomatoes, closed the lid, and let it boil.
Hearing the sound of the boiling water, Zhang Bei adjusted the fire slightly and opened the lid to let out some steam. He lowered the heat to let it stew.
About forty to fifty minutes later, Zhang Bei opened the lid of the pot. Thick liquid wrapped around the bull tail and the hooves. The tomatoes were cooked until they were mushy. Red liquid spread in the pot, and the entire pot was filled with the fragrance of tomatoes and beef.
Zhang Bei swallowed hard and moved the pot from the fire to the table that had been prepared. He then took out a few pieces of bread from the storage room.
The little yellow chick ran to its bowl and Zhang Bei broke off half a piece of bread and placed it in its bowl.
Zhang Bei picked up a piece of the tail with his chopsticks. The skin on the tail was covered in colloidal matter, and it was jiggly. The jiggly skin emitted a fragrant smell and was covered in fat.
He immediately stuffed the bull tail into his mouth. The heat made him huff and puff.
After the burning sensation passed, the fragrance of meat and fat emerged. He was chewing hard, and the elasticity of the flesh and the smoothness of the fat burst open in his mouth.
Zhang Bei chewed and chewed, trying his best to feel the fragrance of meat that he had not felt in a long time.
One after another, Zhang Bei had a whale of a time eating the tail and hooves.
Zhang Bei ate the entire tail and two hooves alone. He even dipped the bread in the remaining broth and stuffed them into his mouth.
After eating, Zhang Bei lay on the bed and rubbed his stomach. He said, “If only there was rice. I need to find some rice someday.”
After eating and drinking, it was easy for people to feel sleepy. He lay on the hammock and looked at the sky. It was not completely dark yet. There was a cool breeze outside. The sun shone on his face through the leaves of the coconut trees. He closed his eyes and slowly fell asleep.
Humans were like this. Even in the face of death, they would still try their best to enjoy their lives and bring more joy to themselves.
When Zhang Bei opened his eyes again, night had fallen. The stars in the sky seemed to shine in his eyes through the leaves.
He looked at the sky full of stars and pointed. If the disaster had not happened, that would have been the position of Earth.
He sighed, but he still had to face the truth. He stood up from the hammock, patted his clothes, and walked into the tent.
Now he sorted out his supplies every three days. He turned on the lamp and took out all the supplies in the tent. He roughly sorted out his food, some tools, important items, and so on.
Zhang Bei looked at the food in front of him. There were three bags of beef jerky, two packs of sausage, three large bags of instant noodles, and a few boxes of mineral water. There was also some frozen meat in the fridge. There was really no need to worry about food for the time being.
Then, he looked at the daily necessities. There was still a lot of toilet paper.
Zhang Bei looked at the small iron box in his hand. It had two tubes with red and blue liquid. He suddenly remembered the results of the appraisal.
Blue could change animals, and red could change humans. He had never dared to let the little yellow chick use it, afraid that its genes would mutate and it would become something else.
He held the blue test tube and was hesitating when the little yellow chick suddenly ran over. It tilted its head and looked at the blue test tube in its hand, then pecked it hard.
The glass test tube shattered on the ground, and the blue liquid was absorbed by the little yellow chick.
The little yellow chick that was absorbing the blue liquid seemed to be drunk. It took two steps crookedly and fell to the ground.
Zhang Bei couldn’t care about anything else. He rushed over and hugged the little yellow chick..
