Chapter 36: The Fairy in the Bookhouse
‘It’s just a mutated beast, yet it has such an aura…’
Calvin thought as he watched Athosen’s back.
If Athosen knew that Calvin had been thinking of it as a mutated beast, it would probably flip out on the spot.
Ever since it was born, it never thought of itself as a mutated beast, but as a noble prince of the Darkin Race!
Therefore, whenever someone called it a mutated beast, it would retaliate madly.
When Matthew entered the castle, he was greeted by an empty hall.
There were too many decorations in the spacious hall. There were candles all around that would automatically light up at night.
There was a hallway at the end of the hall that led to other rooms or to the backyard.
Matthew turned around and asked, “City Lord, can I look for that bookhouse now?”
Calvin nodded and replied with a smile, “Of course.”
Matthew saw the City Lord nod and started down the corridor.
Seeing this, the two sisters wished they could immediately chase after him.
However, considering their father’s thoughts, they decided to ask first.
Edith immediately said to Calvin, “Can we go too, Father?”
Calvin could not help but smile bitterly when he saw how enthusiastic his two daughters were. In the end, he nodded in agreement.
“Thank you!”
When the two women saw their father agree, they immediately chased after Matthew.
“Matthew, we’ll search with you!”
Calvin looked at his daughters’ backs and his bitter smile gradually turned into a warm smile.
If Brenda and Edith could really get to know Matthew better, it would be a good thing. And it concerned a lot of things.
On the other side, Matthew had already arrived at the corridor, and all he could see were many doors and stairs leading up to the higher floor.
“Look for the Grimoire House with sincerity. It may be behind every door, or it may not exist behind any door.”
Matthew thought of the City Lord’s advice. A sincere thought occurred to him, and he headed for the nearest door.
When he reached the door, he saw the label ‘lounge’ in the upper left corner.
Obviously, this was where the City Lord usually received guests.
Then, Matthew closed his eyes in an attempt to amplify the sincerity in his heart.
Moments later, Brenda and Edith came up behind Matthew.
They didn’t interrupt Matthew.
Because the two of them knew that if they disrupted Matthew’s mental state, this door would definitely not lead to the Grimoire House.
After a few breaths, Matthew opened his eyes again and reached for the door handle.
Brenda and Edith saw that Matthew’s eyes were as calm as the surface of a placid lake. They seemed to contain no emotion.
CREAK
As Matthew turned the doorknob, the door to the lounge gradually opened.
The two girls looked past Matthew, hoping to catch a glimpse of the interior of the room through the widening gap in the door.
They looked forward to Matthew finding the Grimoire House immediately.
But they remembered that no one in the Romeo family had ever found the Grimoire House so quickly.
This made them withdraw their expectant gazes, feeling that they needed to comfort and guide Matthew later.
Soon after, Brenda and Edith saw that Matthew had actually walked into the ‘lounge’ with a bland expression on his face. Athosen and Heber followed him closely.
Confused and shocked, they came to the front of the door and finally saw what was inside.
There was no ‘lounge’, only an endless sea of books.
Brenda and Edith were stunned.
Someone could actually open a door and find the Grimoire House.
In the tens of thousands of years of history of the Romeo family, only the first ancestor of the Romeo family could do this!
“Hurry up and tell Daddy about this.”
Edith said blankly.
Brenda nodded in awe.
They never expected Matthew to find the Grimoire House with just one door.
The two girls left in a hurry to look for the City Lord.
…
Matthew wandered through the Grimoire House, his eyes calm as he gazed at the endless sea of books.
“So many books…”
Gradually, a hint of desire appeared in his eyes.
It was a gaze that yearned for knowledge.
“You’re not from the Romeo family.”
Suddenly, a childish voice came from behind Matthew.
He turned around in surprise.
He clearly did not sense any aura. How could there be someone behind him?
Matthew turned back to see a well-dressed young girl with purple hair, golden eyes, and pointy ears. No, more accurately, a little fairy.
“Who are you?”
Matthew asked.
Calvin never said that there was anyone else in the Grimoire House.
The little golden-eyed fairy said with a profound look in her eyes, “I am the spirit of the Grimoire House. I control everything here.”
A spirit of the Grimoire House?
Quite magical… Matthew praised inwardly.
“If you’re not from the Romeo family, how did you get here?” the fairy asked expressionlessly.
Matthew replied indifferently, “Naturally, the city lord allowed me to enter.”
“Calvin Romeo?” the fairy muttered.
Then she asked, “What are you doing here?”
“Since this is a bookhouse, I’m naturally here to study,” Matthew replied.
The fairy drifted through the air, her eyes on Athosen and Heber.
“Darkin Race and Dark Demon Dragon!?”
She sounded surprised.
It was clear that she never expected to see the creatures of these two races again.
Matthew’s eyes flashed with a strange light.
“Oh? Little girl, you actually know about the Darkin Race. Interesting.”
Athosen revealed a terrifying smile and made a hoarse sound.
The Dragon Race had many records on the Vartas continent.
It was not surprising that people could recognize the Dark Demon Dragon.
However, not many people knew about the Darkin Race.
“But aren’t the Darkin Race sealed?” The fairy asked curiously.
Unexpectedly, this sentence infuriated Athosen.
“What nonsense are you spouting, little girl!”
Athosen immediately bellowed.
The fairy dug her ears and impatiently said, “The Darkin Race is still the same, always so irritable. No wonder you were all sealed by the cunning Gods.”
“What has my temper got to do with you!” Athosen roared angrily. “But I agree with you when you say that Gods are cunning.”
Matthew overheard their conversation and learned something important.
The Darkin Race was actually sealed by the Gods!
However, didn’t the legends say that the Darkin Race was comparable to the Gods?
How could they be sealed by the Gods?
“Many people agree that the Gods are cunning,” the fairy replied proudly. “It’s the same for the Darkin Race’s vulgarity.”
“You little girl! I’m going to slaughter you!” Athosen roared, his entire body emitting a powerful killing intent. A terrifying aura instantly filled the room.
