Chapter 383: Chapter 381: The Crown Prince Visits the Countryside_1
On the third day of autumn classes, four fast horses arrived at Woniu Village in a dusty hurry. The attendant at the gate of the Lin’s Residence noticed the guests’ expressions and quickly greeted them respectfully into the small courtyard.
“Is Madam at home?”
Lin Xiaoyang, the son of Duke of Zhen, handed the reins to the attendant and entered the threshold with his three nephews in tow. He glanced around the courtyard, which carried a strong farmyard atmosphere, and his eyes flickered imperceptibly.
“Madam and Second Madam went for a walk in the woods. They just left a short while ago and won’t be back until noon.”
The attendant took the reins and replied softly, his demeanor very respectful.
“Where is Second brother?”
Lin Xiaoyang paused in his stride and turned to head to the backyard.
“Second Master is there.”
The attendant lowered his eyelids and respectfully answered, “He’s in the courtyard working out and doing rehabilitation exercises.”
“You go feed the horses, we’ll go to the backyard by ourselves.”
Lin Xiaoyang, hearing this, quickened his pace and led his three nephews to the backyard.
“Cluck cluck cluck.”
By the vegetable patch in the backyard, a rooster led a group of hens and chicks, happily pecking at insects.
Occasionally, it raised its head, crowed a few times in a sharp voice, asserting its presence.
Second Uncle Lin wielded a long spear with his one arm, trying to keep his body steady as he slowly walked forward.
Hearing the rooster’s crow, he raised the corner of his lips teasingly. He deliberately flicked a small stone with the tip of his spear, barely touching the rooster’s comb. The rooster jumped in anger but didn’t dare to provoke him, it just kept clucking non-stop.
“Hahaha, Second brother, you’re in good spirits! To use the Lin Clan’s ‘hundred steps piercing Yang’ technique on a rooster’s comb is truly a waste of talent.”
Lin Xiaoyang, striding in, just happened to witness this scene and couldn’t help but bend his lips in amusement.
“Big brother, you’re here?”
Second Uncle Lin and Lin Xiaoyue, hearing the teasing laughter, were shocked and turned their heads incredulously.
Seeing it really was their big brother, they couldn’t suppress their surprise and joy.
The two brothers had different mothers but were very close since childhood.
Although Lin Xiaoyue was born outside of the main household, the Duke of Zhen treated him fairly and carefully nurtured him, never mistreating him because of his mother’s low status.
“Second Uncle.”
“Father.”
The three handsome youths following Lin Xiaoyang showed unrestrained happiness when they saw Second Uncle Lin walking unaided in the courtyard.
One of the young men’s eyes reddened, and he ran forward in a few strides to hold Second Uncle Lin’s arm, tears streaming down his face involuntarily.
“Jinyun, you’re here too.”
Second Uncle Lin patted his son’s shoulder affectionately, pleased to discover that he had grown taller after just two months apart.
Lin Jinyun was Lin Jinyang’s biological elder brother, two years older than him and fourteen years old this year. He ranked fourth among the seven brothers.
“Father, your leg can walk now, that’s great!”
Lin Jinyun showed his youthful side in front of his father, alternating between crying and laughing as he wiped his tears.
“Lin Jinlong, Lin Jinpeng, greet Second Uncle and wish him a speedy recovery so he can return to the battlefield.”
Thirteen-year-old Lin Jinlong and eleven-year-old Lin Jinpeng also came forward, politely bowing their heads like little adults.
“Very good, Jinlong and Jinpeng are here too. Stay a while in the countryside and let Jinyang take you hunting in the mountains.”
Seeing his relatives, Second Uncle Lin was in high spirits, and his eyes were full of affection as he looked at the two children.
“Where’s Jinyang? Where is he?”
Hearing about hunting, the eyes of the three young men lit up, and they looked around for Lin Jinyang.
“He’s just a restless monkey.”
Second Uncle Lin laughed heartily, “He ran off early in the morning, probably went to the Su Clan to find Mengzi and Shitou, the two brothers.”
