Chapter 9: Fruit Cup

Ever since David acquired the system and unlocked the various skills, things had become very simple.
There would be completely no need to worry about Anthony’s wound if they were in the city. He would recover in a few days after disinfecting it.
However, it was extremely difficult to solve this problem on this deserted island.
He did not want to die because of a small injury like Anthony.
David looked at Anthony, who was lying on the ground and seemed to see his skill pack and EXP bar.
Before that woman came back from picking herbs, he could only arrange what he had to do today.
The first thing was to build a house. It didn’t rain last night, so he had smoothly gotten through it.
The sea breeze was quite strong today, and it was a tropical rainforest. The weather could easily change.
Without a shelter to hide from the rain, he could easily catch a cold and cause complications.
Freda came running back a short while later with two more wounds on her cheeks.
With a handful of herbs in hand, she hurried over to Anthony and squatted down.
She touched Anthony’s burning cheek and shook him again. “Anthony, wake up.”
Anthony turned his head and opened his mouth but did not respond.
Freda resisted the urge to cry and looked towards the wound on Anthony’s leg. It was swollen and slightly black.
David came over and held out his hand. “Give me the herbs. Go get some water to clean his wound.”
When the people in the livestream heard this, they were all dumbfounded.
“What’s with David? Wasn’t he just chasing them away earlier? Why is he actively helping them now?”
“Seeing the patient’s serious condition, I guess he couldn’t resist offering his help.”
“This shows that David is a good child.”
“A lot of people lose their humanity when they get on the island. He still has it. I’m becoming increasingly fond of him.”
“This is just the start and you’re already praising him, be careful of jinxing things.”
Freda looked at him in astonishment. She had not expected him to suddenly offer to help.
David didn’t explain. He raised an eyebrow. “If we don’t clean it, the bacteria will grow in his body, making it even harder for him to recover.”
Freda had to admit that what he said made sense. She looked at the forest and said, “But it’s seawater all around. Seawater can’t clean the wound.”
David pointed to the northwest. “There’s a freshwater pond a kilometer away. You can get water there.”
Freda looked at him in shock. His luck was too good!
Not only did he have meat to eat, he even managed to find a freshwater source.
As for them, they could only flee for their lives!
She handed the Snake Roll Grass to David and asked, “Do you have any tools to hold water?”
David chuckled. “You think I’d have that kind of thing?”
Freda caught on when she heard this. It was probably a no.
Then how was she going to bring water back?
David ignored her and moved to a smooth stone with the herb.
He found another small rock and crushed the Snake Roll Grass.
Seeing that Freda was still standing in the same spot, he frowned. “Are you sure you want to waste time?”
Freda came back to her senses and took a deep breath. “I… I’ll go right away.”
The viewers in the livestream were all sighing.
“This woman is really worrying.”
“She’s so slow like she doesn’t have a brain.”
“Haven’t you noticed? She needs David’s instructions for every move she makes, and has absolutely no ideas of her own?”
“You’d be scared out of your wits when you encounter such a situation. How could she have any other thoughts?”
Someone defended her.
“Hehe, are the people in front joking? Participation in this program is voluntary and they were informed of the dangers long in advance.”
“If you’re afraid, then don’t participate. No one is begging you to participate!”
Freda followed David’s directions and walked straight for about a kilometer. Sure enough, she saw the freshwater pond.
After a day and night of travel, she was actually tired, sleepy and especially thirsty.
How could she hold back upon seeing the pond? She immediately ran up to the pond and squatted down to scoop water to drink.
After drinking her fill, all her strength seemed to have returned.
She glanced around, looking for something she could use to hold water.
Along the way, she had been looking out for broad leaves, but she did not see any.
Soon she spotted the fruits hanging from the tree. It was the same kind that David had brought back.
She had read the botanical encyclopedia before. This was called the Blue Fruit and was the size of an apple.
They grew near the water, so they had plenty of water content and were edible.
Freda plucked two of them but was in no hurry to eat them.
She hesitated for a moment, and as if she had made up her mind,
She drew a circle on the top of a fruit with her fingernail and removed the skin on it.
Then, he used her fingernails to scrape the fruit bit by bit and remove the flesh from the top. Soon, she emptied it and formed a mold similar to a cup.
The comments went wild again.
“Who was the one who said that she was brainless? Isn’t she very smart?”
“She just has some wits, that’s all. You make it sound like no one else knows how to do this?”
“If she doesn’t even have this bit of intelligence. I suggest that she throw herself into the sea as soon as possible.”
Freda made five of them in a row. The fruits had high water content to begin with and the flesh was very soft, making it very convenient for her to work.
After she was done, she could not help but eat a few more. Her confidence, which had been shattered, returned.
She filled fruit molds with water, held them in her arms, and headed back carefully.
Not long after she disappeared, three people appeared at the water source.
Taking the lead was Morton, whom David had met the night before.
Although Morton and company had gotten a black wolf, they were three big men after all. The wolf couldn’t last them for long.
Not only did they have to come out to look for water, they also needed to search for other food.
Clark was excited to see the sparkling pond. “It seems that we’re quite lucky, we found such a good water source.”
Morton looked around and saw the marks of someone’s footfalls on the ground across the pond.
He walked over. Clark and Andrew followed him.
Andrew scanned the ground. “Someone’s been here.”
He picked up some fruit peels from the ground and collected them with his hand. “And just left not long ago.”
Clark frowned. “Does that mean that someone discovered this water source earlier than we did?”
Andrew nodded. “Yes.”
Clark was shocked and looked at Morton. “Chief, should we find him?”
Morton thought of the man he’d met the previous evening. The man was tall but extremely thin. He could be sent flying with one kick.
“There’s three of us. No need to worry about it,” Moreton disagreed. “Just move according to our plan.”
Both of them nodded at his words.
They had already had a discussion before they set off. Morton’s orders were the lead, they would listen to his arrangements for important decisions.
Comments flooded the screen again.
“What do the three of you have? David’s side also has three people.”
“Haha, are those two considered humans now? The injured do not count as a person, understand?”
Freda carefully returned to the lodging with five fruit cups. “I brought back water.”
David had already mashed the herbs and was looking for a spot to build the house.
Upon hearing her words, he immediately stopped what he was doing.
He cocked his head and raised an eyebrow when he saw the fruit cups in Freda’s arms.
He had thought that this woman only knew how to scream and shout. He did not expect her to be so meticulous.
“Clean his wound,” David instructed.
Freda nodded and came to Anthony, doing the washing for him gently.
Not only did she not dare to waste any water, she also had to clean his wound thoroughly.
When she was done, David laid the crushed Snake Roll Grass on Anthony’s wound.
