Fair Trade - Chapter 47-1
“Seems like it’s the FBI?”
Stefan spoke quietly and handed me his cell phone. On it was a photo taken at high magnification.
What was visible in the photo was an FBI raid jacket. Yuri glanced outside indifferently. He glanced over and proceeded to close the curtains.
If it was the FBI, they should be treated accordingly.
After exchanging glances with Stefan, he looked at the sofa in the living room and flipped it over. As a cloud of dust arose, Sei and Lily’s surprised gazes turned to the two men as she headed toward them.
“What are you doing?”
“You might be expecting a guest soon.”
Stefan tore off one of the wooden tiles on the floor with a crackling sound and found what was inside. He took out the large case it contained. Sei laughed with an absurd expression on her face.
After all, this was her home, and she had just recently bought that IKEA sofa.
It wasn’t there when she moved places. A feeling of betrayal overwrought her.
“Don’t make that face. It wasn’t like I was trespassing illegally.”
What was in the case was an AWSM rifle. Also known as the Arctic Warfare Rifle, it was an efficient rifle used for human targets.
Yuri picked up the heavy console table with both hands and placed the gun on it. Then Stefan, standing in front of him, tilted his torso and took a stance.
Although it was unofficial, Stefan had a record of sniping a target from 3.6 km away. Which was the opposite of his usual good-for-nothing attitude. Satisfied, Yuri leisurely took out the cookies from the cupboard.
“Do you want some? To keep your hand steady when you pull the trigger.”
“You can eat it yourself. I don’t like sweets.”
“Hmm, well I like them.”
“Who is the target?”
“Anyone. Anyone who seems suspicious. Just shoot them no matter what happens.”
Yuri calmly leaned against Stefan’s back. Then he stared at Sei’s back with a relaxed face. That was exactly how her retreating figure looked when he saw her in the court five years ago.
After listening to the prosecutor’s jeers until the end without blinking, Sei stood up from her seat, put on her hat with an expression that seemed to want to vent something, and passed by him. Yuri let his target leisurely pass by. It was an impulse that kept her alive at that time. He had originally planned to threaten Jang Yong-guk and the FBI with her life.
This was when his only goal was to retrieve the ‘item.’ But for some reason, he didn’t catch her. He somehow stopped himself. He had a strange hunch that holding her hand would make him feel something he couldn’t handle.
Anyway, she’s sexy.
Yuri was slightly excited as he watched her hand stroking her hair.
His eyes naturally turned to the table where they had sex for the first time. He wanted nothing better than to kick those two out and take Sei to bed right then and there.
Of course, if only he could.
“Yuri, you’ve got a call.”
At Stefan’s disgruntled tone, Yuri finally felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. It was a call from David. He put down the bag of cookies and headed to the kitchen to answer the phone.
“I just got your call.”
[It’s been a long time, Yuri.]
“Yes, it’s been a long time, David.”
[Okay. Anything going on?]
“A lot is going on. From your voice, it seems like you have something to explain.”
[Why are you in such a hurry? You seem upset. Oh, are you in a bad mood because of me? I am sorry for last time. I was told the gold bar was the FBI’s doing. I now know everything. I met Camille after I came to Las Vegas]
Yuri took out a water bottle out of the refrigerator and leaned against the sink.
“I’m glad the misunderstanding has been resolved.”
[That young woman, how is she? I’m still waiting to see when my owl will fly away, but I haven’t heard any news, so I’m curious.]
“Well, she’s not a rash woman. It’lll probably take more time.”
[Then what happened to Giulio Parenti? He’s not the type of guy to mess around, but he’s on the Red Notice. Why is that guy acting crazy all of a sudden? Do you know something?]
David’s voice became subdued. Yuri’s gaze turned to Sei.
“Wasn’t he originally crazy? At least as far as I know.”
David laughed coolly at his playful reply. In the meantime, Yuri didn’t take his eyes off Sei. As she was assembling the last item, she looked up as if sensing his gaze.
[Look, among men like us, who isn’t crazy? And if Giulio Parenti is caught, the system itself will be shaken. This is pretty important. Could it be you who loosened the reins on him?]
Sei’s black eyes blinked slowly. The reins holding Giulio Parenti were none other than Sei, and she had unclenched the hand that held those reins. Of course, he was the one who helped her slacken her hands… And he had no regrets.
With a smirk, he turned the cap on the bottle of mineral water.
“Probably so. I stole something that Parenti cherished. Just like how he stole something from me.”
David sighed deeply at his chilled voice.
David was American and Giulio Parenti was Italian. If caught by the FBI, Giulio Parenti could ask for help from his home country, but David would definitely end up in trouble.
[Hey, Yuri. I know you don’t like bloodshed, but this time the situation is a bit special. Giulio Parenti was also invited by McKenzie. And right after his stint with shooting an FBI officer too.]
“You piqued my interest.”
[Giulio Parenti is in New York now. Very close to you.]
Yuri’s gaze narrowed coldly as he put down the bottle of water in the sink. However, he soon made eye contact with Sei and smiled softly.
“I guess I’ll have to go see him after a long time. No, by now… Is he planning to make the first move there? Do you know exactly where he is?”
[Near Brooklyn General Hospital.]
Yuri’s brows furrowed slightly at those words.
Why…
