Chapter 19: Elder Lin has been crippled!
Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
Forget everyone else–even Elder Lin was stunned!
He had expected the most senior disciple of the Dao Sect to use the same cultivation technique as the female disciple from earlier. But Elder Lin didn’t recognize this technique, nor was he able to guess its grade.
Elder Lin had been a cultivator for nearly a hundred years, and had a fair understanding of the levels and grades of cultivation techniques. But not the move Su’en had just executed. However, he felt like he was being torn apart from the aura it emitted alone.
This was at least a high-grade Earth-rank technique!
Not a Heaven Realm technique, though, that was impossible. Heaven Realm cultivation techniques could only be possessed by high-level sects. The Dao Sect’s influence had been waning for many years; there was no way they still had a Heaven Realm technique in their possession.
“This is bad.”
After recovering from his shock, Elder Lin began to panic. He couldn’t fathom how the Dao Sect, the lowest of the sects in the Heavenly Domain, had gotten their hands on two such astounding cultivation techniques–each one more powerful than the last!
The Nether Saber Sect’s strength was supposed to be twice that of the Dao Sect, but the latter’s performance today defied all logic.
“You need to block my attack, you know?” Su’en taunted, waving his fingers downward. The great sword of Divine Lightning hovering in the air was already aimed at Elder Lin.
In the face of such power, Elder Lin broke out in a cold sweat and swallowed nervously.
There was no escape!
With a thought, the floating Divine Lightning Sword came plunging down toward Elder Lin.
“Damn it! Dark Wheel Technique!” Elder Lin couldn’t just beg a disciple for mercy, so he could only attempt to defend himself.
With a flick of the long saber in his band, black wheels formed a shield over his body: the signature defensive technique of the Nether Saber Sect, a high-grade Profound-rank technique.
Unfortunately, its lower rank meant that it couldn’t resist an Earth-rank technique, let alone a Heaven-rank one. His defense couldn’t withstand Su’en’s Sword Qi, condensed from his breath of lightning. It vanished, like paper crumpling in flames.
“Young man, don’t be hasty. We can still settle this through negotiation–are you certain you want a fight to the death with the Nether Saber Sect?” Elder Lin shouted hurriedly, straining under the force of Su’en’s attack.
“It’s your sect that gave me no choice!” Su’en’s stare was blank as he piled on the strength of his Divine Lightning Sword Technique, heedless of Elder Lin. The boost from his True Qi made the aura of his Divine Lightning even more terrifying.
Elder Lin’s defensive technique stood no chance. There was a splintering sound as his shield shattered, the old man unable to hold out any longer.
The moment the Divine Lightning Sword touched Elder Lin, it turned into several bolts of lightning that surged through him.
The Sword Qi pierced through his body and tore it apart. Blood burst out, staining the grass bright red!
The Divine Lightning aura charred Elder Lin’s body, cauterizing the flow of his blood. He lay on the ground, wailing in pain. His cries intensified when he realized he could no longer feel his True Qi.
“My… my Energy Sea!”
The Divine Lightning aura had wreaked havoc on Elder Lin’s body. Not only had it destroyed his cheekbones, but his Energy Sea as well!
“F*cking hell!” With that, Elder Lin closed his eyes and fainted.
“Elder Lin!” Wei Pan hollered.
Elder Lin was an elder of the sect; he had only been reduced to such a state because he had leapt to Wei Pan’s defense. His bones and tendons were all broken, and his Energy Sea had been crippled. Without the right healing medicine, it was impossible for him to recover! He was also shocked that the Nether Saber Sect had lost a Golden Core Realm cultivation expert–it was a blow to the strength of the sect!
Wei Pan looked at Su’en, who was still hovering in the air, not giving the other disciple a single glance. Su’en’s stance invoked helplessness in Wei Pan. He didn’t even dare entertain the thought of revenge–it was simply impossible. And he was far too frightened, anyway.
A twenty-something year old cultivator, already in the Golden Core Realm. What realms would he break into in the future?
Today, the Nether Saber Sect had found a formidable opponent in him.
But asking the master of their sect to take action against him wasn’t an option; the regulatory authorities of the Blue Sea Sect monitored the movements of all the sects in the Heavenly Domain closely. If their sect master stepped out of line, they would have to answer to the Blue Sea Sect.
Su’en waved his hand, and the remaining Divine Lightning Breath and Divine Lightning Sword Qi in Elder Lin’s body flew back into him. Elder Lin’s broken body fell onto the grass.
Wei Pan glanced at Su’en and said, “You win today’s contest!”
Then he turned around and left with all his junior disciples.
The head of the Wang family opened his mouth and wanted to say something, but when he thought of the tragic end the sect elder had met, he chose to shut up and follow them silently.
“Are you alright?” Su’en floated down from the sky and came to Ye Lingyun’s side. When he saw how pale she was, he sent a stream of True Qi into her body. But Ye Lingyun had exhausted her own Qi, and even with Su’en’s efforts, she could barely move.
“Thank you, Senior,” Ye Lingyun said, a smile forming on her ashen face.
“You performed very well in the duel earlier. I didn’t expect you to master the second level of an Earth-rank cultivation technique in just a few months!” Su’en laughed.
There were many types of Earth-rank cultivation techniques, but they all had one thing in common: they were extremely difficult to cultivate. Not only did it require an acute understanding of the technique, but it also demanded a large amount of resources.
The Golden Lightning Sword Technique that Ye Lingyun had cultivated was different from his Divine Lightning Sword Technique. The Golden Lightning Sword Technique was a spell-type cultivation technique that required greater depth of understanding. On the other hand, the Divine Lightning Sword Technique needed one to cultivate a sword embryo, and hence called for greater resources, including absorbing a large amount of Divine Lightning.
“That was nothing compared to the technique you executed, Senior.” The True Qi restored some energy to Ye Lingyun’s body. Her lovely eyes met Su’en’s as she smiled.
Hearing his junior’s words, Su’en could only cough and smile. He didn’t want to expose how he had broken through to his current realm, or how he had obtained his cultivation technique. It would be a long story anyway.
That being said, who knew a Golden Core Realm cultivator from the Nether Saber Sect would attack them? No one had been around to help Ye Lingyun, only him. To stay put would have been to put his junior’s life in danger.
How could he have just stood there?
Admittedly, he had wanted to test his power too, but he hadn’t expected his opponent to put up such a pitiful fight.
