Father, I Won’t Do Anything - Chapter 49
Yurika
Jayna recalled when Micheal visited her a few days ago.
– So tell me a gift which others can’t give to you!
Micheal had said unless it was a gift she wanted he’d say no.
In the end, she couldn’t beat his adamant nature and asked Micheal for one item.
– Actually, there is something I want.
– Well, will I know anything if you don’t tell me? Come on, tell me!
– Won’t you just say no?
– All right, all right. Hurry up and tell me.
After I whispered to him in a soft tone, Micheal, who had his chin raised up, quickly turned red.
– What? Why on earth…
– You said you’d listen to anything I would say…
– You’re noisy, I’ll do something like that!
Micheal ended up giving Jayna a gift different from what she had asked for and disappeared, so she had thought he had given up on the idea. It seemed to have been on her mind.
“Do you think I’ll die if you tell others of this?”
Micheal grabbed Jayna’s hands and let out a sigh. After that, he hesitated for a while.
Micheal lowered his head and mumbled.
“Happy birthday, happy birthday… Happy birthday dear Jayna…”
What Jayna wanted from Micheal was for him to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her.
He kept asking her what she wanted from him, so she answered, but didn’t expect him to actually do it.
“Thank you, Micheal.”
Jayna, who had her face dyed red, quietly said.
“Today was actually my first birthday party in my life.”
Jayna smiled calmly.
Somehow, today it seemed that I could forget Min Bo-bae, who was always lonely and sad.
On the day of her birthday, she had nowhere to go and went to an apartment’s rooftop, looking down from it while touching it’s railing.
If she jumped from there would she melt and disappear from this world, were her thoughts at the time.
‘I also have a place to stay now.’
Her own room, her own family, her own friends.
She only had six years left to live, but she was satisfied.

After her birthday party, Jayna was assigned a new maid.
She was a woman named Yurika, and she and Jayna were old friends.
– I’m sorry but could I have a blanket? I need something to cover myself with and sleep.
– What? Are you trying to sleep here? This isn’t a place where you should sleep, especially as a young lady
When Jayna first arrived in the Tower and stayed in the warehouse, she knew it was against Micheal’s wishes, nevertheless she was forever grateful for it in her heart.
“Is there anything that makes you feel uncomfortable?”
“Thank you for your concern, Miss Yurika.”
“Feel free to call me just Yurika.”
Yurika glanced down at Jayna who was lying in the middle of a huge bed.
She was curious as to why such a small child would come to the tower, but Jayna changed the subject everytime she asked.
‘It’s probably something she doesn’t want to tell others about. If so, I shouldn’t pry further.’
Yurika remembered the first time Jayna came to the tower.
Considering the fact that she originally stayed in a storage room with just a blanket, it was fortunate that she was able to move to a luxurious room with a drawing room.
‘It’s a miracle that the cruel Tower Lord gave such a room to a child who wasn’t even a wizard, but it’s a good thing.’
Yurika didn’t know that Jayna’s biological father was Diamide.
Of course, just like everyone else, she sometimes thought that their black hair and blue eyes resembled each others.
‘You don’t happen to have a hidden daughter, do you? Haha, I’m one too.’
But that thought was just a hunch.
‘Even if she was his real daughter, he wouldn’t act any different.’
Because that man was cold and indifferent to even his nephew whom he shared blood with.
Yurika had previously, from a distance, seen Micheal being scolded by Diamide for failing a mission.
The gruesome sight still lingers in her mind.
‘Phew. I know that as a maid, I shouldn’t care about anything other than public matters.’
Strangely, Yurika cared about Jayna.
Her unchildlike calmness was amazing, but sometimes she acted like an old man on the verge of death.
‘It’s nice having you as company, but it would be nice if you acted a bit more childlike.’
It was one day. Yurika thoughtlessly spoke to Jayna on that day.
“What kind of hairstyle would match my lady? Your short hair is also pretty, but it’s good to change hairstyles occasionally just like how our mood changes, right?”
Yurika gently began to brush Jayna’s hair. After which she began working on it earnestly.
Grabbing a little bit of hair on a side and pulling it down. Tie it in pigtails or tie it in one place with a little bit of side hair left.
“My lady has fine hair, it’s such fun to touch.”
Jayna watched through the mirror as her hair was being styled in different ways.
She always wore the same bobbed hair everyday, and never imagined just changing her hairstyle would change her image.
“Well, in my opinion…”
Yurika, who tried different hairstyles, tied the top of her hair to form a half up ponytail.
“How about a half-up ponytail today?”
Jayna nodded with a slightly flushed face. Yurika then laughed.
“Oh, I haven’t fixed it yet, so you can’t nod.”
Yurika held Jayna’s hair with one hand, and rummaged through drawers with another.
However, she was unable to find anything in it.
Yurika frowned, realizing that Jayna had no accessories nor any jewelry.
“It can’t be helped. Even if it’s only for today, would you like to borrow one of my accessories?”
Yurika took off her hair tie and tied it to Jayna’s hair.
“What about Yurika? You’re giving me your hair tie.”
“I usually tie my hair, so it would be okay to have it hung naturally today.”
Jayna, who had been touching her hair for a long time, immediately visited Izren when Yurika left saying she was going to do something else. It was for a consultation.
“Well, that’s what happend. How could I possibly pay her back?”
Jayna said, while she had Izren on her lap and she patted him.
Nya, Nya.
As Izren was in the form of a cat, it was difficult for him to communicate.
Jayna, who was quietly listening to his cries, freely interpreted his words.
“I think it’d be nice to make a ribbon similar to the one gotten. I think I heard what you are talking about in the dressing room.”
When Izren agreed by meowing, the two decided to go directly to the market and visit Micheal.
He looked at Jayna suspiciously when asked for space dimension magic.
“I’m worried that I’m just letting you two go alone.”
“I’ll be back safe and sound this time. Don’t worry.”
Jayna pretended to fling Izren’s arms in an attempt to show she would be careful.
Micheal then sighed and said,
“God damn it, if it weren’t for the Tower Lord’s orders, I’d come with you.”
Micheal stuck out his tongue, glanced at Izren with a fierce look, and stirred his hand several times in the air.
“What did you do?”
“Magic, a location spell.”
Seeing as Micheal’s tone was extremely confident, it seemed that he could track their location in real time.
Jayna and Izren looked at each other for a moment and then nodded.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to come to you guys as soon as I feel any sort of suspicious mana.”
Micheal disappeared after finishing his sentence. Jayna, who looked at the air where a person was, then looked down to Izren and whispered.
“He’s extremely overprotective, isn’t he?”
Nya, nya.
Izren however shook his head to show that, this time, Micheal was right.
Jayna stared blankly at such a response, and gave her attention to the sapphire bracelet on her wrist.
‘Was location tracking and mana detection magic a given thing…?’
At the moment, Jayna felt a confusion of values, but she decided to ignore it.
After all, aren’t they all items given to her by those who cherished her?
Also, no matter how hard she tries, the dragons that will come to kill her in six years will be hard to stop with only this much magic.
‘Micheal and Hilvenzia are important characters in the novel, is it alright for Izren to stay like this? I still have a long time before I should meet the main character.’
For the first time, Jayna seriously thought about Izren being accepted into the tower rather than being kicked out.

Izren prefered the body of a cat to that of a human’s. He said it was because a cat’s body was lighter than a human’s, however, under the current circumstances, having the appearance of a cat wasn’t helpful at all.
“I can’t let such a young child go in alone.”
Jayna tried to buy a ribbon, but was refused entry into the store.
‘The Tower Lord paid me for playing the harpsichord well.’
“Here’s the money I have with me.”
“Does it really belong to you? Did you steal that money from an adult?”
How can she get in without being suspected by the owner?
Jayna raised herself as high as she could on her tiptoes and looked inside.
She was banned from entering the store due to her young age, however a child around her age was casually shopping inside of it.
Jayna’s eyes narrowed.
‘What’s the difference between me and that kid? What’s the difference?’
And it wasn’t long before Jayna found out why.
“That kid, she’s got an escort next to her. She must be a noble.”
Nya, nya.
At her words, Izren raised his neck, as if telling her to wait for a bit longer.
She held him and went to a well-hidden corner.
And after a while.
“It’s going to be okay now.”
Izren reappeared in the form of a human, wearing a knight’s white uniform.
The sparkling purple jewelry against the aquatic coloured hair felt mysterious and beautiful. When he wore that sword, it truly did look like he was a knight escorting a noble.
