Chapter 714: 713 I have a method
The next day, Qing Feng and Qing Yang went to the countryside, working according to the plans Wen Ran had given them.
Wen Ran contacted several fruit tree nurseries and flower nurseries. Ultimately, she chose two bases in A City.
Over the phone, they invited her to come and take a look.
Just as she finished the call, Mother Qin called her.
Pressing the answer key, Wen Ran started speaking with a soft, polite smile, “Hello, auntie.”
“Ranran, are you busy now? I hope I’m not disturbing you,” Mother Qin asked.
Wen Ran replied with a smile, “Auntie, I’m not busy.”
She got up from behind her desk and asked full of concern, “How is Qin Mu’s recovery going?”
Speaking of this, she felt a little guilty. After all, Qin Mu had saved her life.
But, shortly after he woke up, she returned to G City – she’d only called him twice in the past twenty days.
Each call was a short few-minute conversation.
Mother Qin called Wen Ran with her son Qin Mu in mind.
Originally unsure of how to bring it up, hearing Wen Ran’s inquiry prompted her to sigh on the other end of the line.
“Ranran,” she confessed, “If you hadn’t asked, I wouldn’t have told you. Ah Mu has caught a cold these past few days. He keeps insisting on getting discharged from the hospital. Your Uncle Qin and I are helpless with him. I thought of calling you to help persuade him.”
Wen Ran was taken aback and asked concerned, “Qin Mu has a cold? His body hasn’t even recovered yet, how did he catch a cold again?”
“The weather was good yesterday, but he couldn’t stand being cooped up in the room. He insisted on going outside for some fresh air. Who would have thought that with his frail body, he’d come down with a cold after only two hours outside,” explained Mother Qin.
“Auntie, I happen to need to make a trip to A City. I will make a call to Qin Mu shortly, then book an afternoon flight. I can visit him tonight or tomorrow,” said Wen Ran softly after giving it some thought.
“Ranran, our Ah Mu is a stubborn boy. He won’t listen to many people, so it would be great if you could come to A City. I’ll end the call now. Call Ah Mu, and let me know when you’ve booked your flight so that I can arrange for the driver to pick you up.”
Upon hearing that Wen Ran was going to A City, Mother Qin’s spirits immediately lifted.
At first, she had disapproved when her son showed affection towards Wen Ran.
However, in recent days looking at her son’s listlessness, showing no interest in anything, she was at heart’s end.
Thinking how he might recover faster, anything that made him happier seemed worthwhile. So she decided to call Wen Ran.
“Auntie, I’ll call Qin Mu first,” said Wen Ran, not promising to let Mother Qin’s driver pick her up from the airport.
For this inspection visit, the nursery would send someone to receive her and arrange for accommodation.
Hanging up the phone, Wen Ran dialed Qin Mu’s number.
The phone rang twice before Qin Mu’s voice rang through. His voice was low and warm, tinged with a hint of joy that wasn’t easy to detect: “Hello, Wen Ran.”
“You’re quite quick to answer the phone. You’re not going to tell me that you’ve been playing with your phone all day, are you?” teased Wen Ran. At that, Qin Mu chuckled: “Well, I’m bored in the ward with nothing else to do but play with my mobile and watch TV.”
“I heard you caught a cold. As a patient, you should be more responsible and rest properly instead of playing with your phone.”
“Who told you?” Qin Mu asked, sounding somewhat surprised. His cold wasn’t severe.
Wen Ran laughed, “Never mind who told me. The fact is, I know. Not only do you have a cold, you are also insisting on getting discharged from the hospital.”
“It must have been my mom who told you, right? I’m not keen on getting discharged. I’m just saying that if I have to stay any longer, I’ll go stir crazy,” Qin Mu’s voice revealed a hint of frustration.
These days, he’d been unbearably bored.
What was harder to accept was that his mom brought different women to visit him every day.
He didn’t understand the women who kept coming to see him like that, looking at him with such eager eyes, as if they were going to pounce on him at any moment.
“Qin Mu, you can’t be discharged yet. At least not before you die of boredom. If you’re truly bored in that hospital, I might have a solution.”
Wen Ran offered her advice, prompting Qin Mu to quickly ask, “What’s the solution?”
“Why don’t you transfer to G City? After all, you’re in the recovery stage and there’s no major issue. If you move to Kangning Hospital, at least my brother will visit you.”
“Fine, I’ll transfer to G City,” Qin Mu readily agreed without waiting for Wen Ran to finish speaking. His voice full of joy.
A bit surprised, Wen Ran continued, “I have to go to A City tomorrow to buy some fruit trees and flower seedlings. Tomorrow, I’ll come and visit you in the hospital.”
“You’re coming to A City?” Qin Mu seemed genuinely surprised, as he thought she’d left in a rush and wouldn’t visit him again.
Wen Ran softly nodded before realizing that the agreement was over a phone call and Qin Mu couldn’t see her nodding. “Yes, I need to go to A City. Once I get there, we can return to G City together. You can get admitted to Kangning Hospital. Auntie and Uncle Qin will probably feel relieved then.”
She didn’t say that she’d have time to visit him, but only that once he’d moved to Kangning Hospital, his brother would visit him when he had the time.
Even though Wen Ran was a bit naive in matters of the heart and wasn’t aware of Qin Mu’s feelings for her because he had hid them so well. But ever since he had jumped off the cliff with her and held her tightly at the last moment, using his own body to buffer the deadly impact, whispering a word in her ear, she started to feel something.
So, as soon as Qin Mu woke up, she hurriedly escaped back to G City.
When she heard from Mother Qin that Qin Mu had fallen ill and was insisting on a discharge, she had felt a pang of guilt.
She believed she was being too heartless. Qin Mu had saved her life; she couldn’t just abandon him because of her suspicions…
“Then… I’ll wait for you… to come to A City. You should talk to my mom about this. She may not necessarily agree with me,” Qin Mu’s words came out slowly, each pause revealing hints of barely suppressed affection.
He paused, and before Wen Ran could respond, asked, “When is your flight?”
“I’ll book the flight shortly and come see you when I arrive.”
“Okay!” Qin Mu didn’t ask any further. They said their goodbyes and ended the call.
His mood instantly improved.
The listless expression he’d been wearing for days was now replaced with a joyful light in his eyes. He smiled silently and dialed his mother’s number.
“Mom, bring dinner for two tonight.” Without waiting for Mother Qin to respond, Qin Mu cheerily mentioned that Wen Ran would be booking a flight soon and will definitely be in time for dinner that evening.
Thinking of this, he added, “Mom, arrange for a driver to go to the airport later. Wen Ran called just now and mentioned she’s coming to A City this afternoon. Please send someone to pick her up.”
“Ranran is coming to A City? Did she mention what time her flight would be?”
Mother Qin’s mood improved significantly hearing her son’s cheerful voice. As long as her son was happy, everything else seemed to matter less.
She had heard that Mo Xiuchen not only forgot about Wen Ran, but the elder of the Mo family had also arranged for their divorce. Now, with another woman by Mo Xiuchen’s side, he probably wouldn’t have another chance with Ranran.
