Chapter 26: Trading Tiger Meat!
Soon, Ed had cut the tiger into small pieces.
He did not bother separating the meat and bones, rather just hacking off pieces. It would have been a waste of time to do so. Anyway, as this wasn’t for himself, there was no need to be so particular.
Squeak squeak!
Little Treasure stretched out its arms as it looked toward the fur that had been sliced off. Such a big tiger had been put down by its master. He was simply too strong.
The squirrel stretched out its two paws before smacking them together rapidly.
Clapping!
It had also picked this behaviour up from Ed.
Ed soon approached the barbecue grill.
He was just in time. The grilled fish had only just finished cooking, and a rich fragrance emitted from the top of the grill.
Ed took a deep breath.
Fragrant!
He proceeded to bite off a piece of fish meat, which was at just the right temperature. The outside was charred, the inside was tender, and the heat was just right. Maybe if things settled down, he could get a job specializing in barbecuing.
It was simply too delicious, in a completely different way from the fish soup just now.
That soup had felt like it melted in his mouth. The main reason for its delectable taste had been because Ed had used gold-quality anchovies. Had he used any other type of fish, the taste would likely not have been anything special.
However, the sensation of eating the grilled fish was completely different.
The meat was tender, and had to be chewed slowly. The more he chewed, the more fragrant it became. Because the fish he had chosen to put on the grill had not been of high quality, he had deliberately added more salt to cover up its fishy stench.
Now that he tried it, he found the taste just right, and its rich aroma reverberated in his mouth.
If not for the fact that the number of fish he had gotten were too little, this grilled fish alone could probably have been traded for an astonishing amount of resources.
Right now, however, the small fish he had were barely enough for himself. He wouldn’t be able to think about using them for trade just yet.
After eating and drinking his fill, Ed went about his daily post meal routine.
Opening the chat interface, he looked to find any interesting happenings that had taken place today.
“Today’s luck is pretty good. I caught two forest chickens. The taste is great.”
“I envy you guys who are starting to eat meat. I’ve only harvested some wild vegetables today. Overall, it’s pretty good. At least I don’t have to eat tree bark.”
“Someone caught a forest chicken? I remember that big shot again.”
“It’s nothing special. I eat three forest chickens a day. I’m tired of it.”
Ed browsed through the texts that flashed across his mind.
It was exactly as he had assumed.
The other survivors were now sustainably finding their own food, but most of them were wild vegetables or something similar. It was all they could do to satiate their hunger. If they wanted to replenish their energy, however, they would definitely have to eat meat.
There was also a very small number of them who had begun to obtain meat, but they were few and far in between
Therefore, meat was still extremely precious.
Not everyone had the luxury of such delicious food at every meal like Ed, who did not need to worry about going hungry at all. It seemed like even if he had wanted to fast, the heavens would not allow it.
Furthermore, there was still a large lake with plenty of fish. Whenever there was a chance in the future, Ed would return, perhaps to take a closer look at the other resources there and the seafood.
Ed was silent for a moment. He opened the chat interface and typed in a paragraph of text before sending it out.
“Tiger meat / internal organs. Price: Wood x500, leaves x500, metal sheet x20. Those who have any two items may message me to trade. Just as previously, those who have special items may also offer them for trade. Quantity is limited, first come, first served!”
He was going to start selling the tiger meat in addition to its other internal organs, as they were also rich in nutrients.
The chat interface was silent for a few seconds before it exploded.
“Chicken man has appeared!”
“Master Chicken Man! He’s starting to slaughter tigers!”
“There was Wu Song fighting the tiger, and now there’s Chicken Man slaughtering them! I’m worshipping the Boss!”
“I suddenly feel like the apple in my hand doesn’t smell good anymore. The Big Boss is starting to eat tiger meat!”
Looking at the endless texts that flooded the screen, Ed’s face grew unusually cold.
What Chicken Man?
Can you guys be a little more courteous?!
However, Ed was also a little surprised. Now that he had somewhat of a strong reputation, as long as a transaction was in demand, people would immediately discover him.
Regardless of anything, successful trades were more important.
Ed shook his head, trying not to think too much about it.
He put all the tiger meat and a series of other things up for sale, excluding the fur.
After the prices had been clearly marked, he confirmed the shelf.
In less than a minute, all kinds of trade requests had popped up.
Looking at this, Ed couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Exactly as he had predicted, there were still a number of people who were lacking meat
Of course, this time, Ed still restricted the purchase. Otherwise, there would definitely be people who would purposefully buy them all, known as middlemen, who hoarded goods and prevented others from buying them.
Twenty minutes passed.
During this time, Ed had been sifting through all kinds of transaction requests. He prioritized looking to see if there were any special items.
However, the results disappointed him, as he did not find any mention of special items in the items on offer for trade.
He guessed that this was fair. After all, everyone had been living here for some time already. Although they could not see the quality of the special items like Ed could, some would still be able to distinguish that certain items were unusual, and naturally wouldn’t simply use them for trade like before.
They would only do that if they were truly desperate. He guessed that those who did have rare items in their hands would be holding on to them to use as a last resort measure.
He proceeded to pick out thirty lucky buyers and traded away thirty portions of tiger meat.
Of course, they had to have met at least two of his trading requirements. He couldn’t make a loss. There were also some people who begged to have them for free, but he ignored them.
The people who had managed to obtain the tiger meat were excited as they immediately proceeded to show off in the chat interface.
“Chicken man’s tiger meat, authentic taste!”
“I’ve also traded for it. Now I’m looking forward to the taste of this tiger meat.”
“I really envy you guys. I didn’t have enough metal pieces, otherwise, I would definitely have tried to get a piece!”
The chat interface grew rowdy as some complained about their bad luck while others began to flaunt.
The strangest thing was that someone had actually explained the step by step method of preparing tiger meat on the spot.
Ed’s trading interface had also fallen silent.
Just as he was about to close the interface, a message popped up.
Unconsciously clicking in, the message he found caused his pupils to shrink.
