Chapter 36: Feast!
After taking a bite of the peach, Ed exerted some strength into his feet before rushing toward the direction of the wooden cabin with Little Treasure.
With the speed buff, his current speed was no different from that of a fierce tiger. In fact, it may even be slightly faster.
Which survivor other than him could have ever had such speed?
The journey back that should have taken at least half an hour was shortened to ten minutes.
In those ten minutes, he felt like an assassin in the forest. As he moved nimbly like a gust of wind, his footsteps whisked up the fallen leaves on the ground, kicking up waves of sand.
“Just in time.”
Arriving back to his land, Ed raised his head to look at the sky.
The dazzling sun would soon set. In a little while, the strange moon would appear once again.
He did not rest after returning back.
Ed needed to prepare tonight’s feast, and he was determined to make it a sumptuous one. Today’s harvest was simply too rich not to celebrate.
Squeak squeak.
Little Treasure was like a prophet. It seemed to be able to tell already that a delicious feast was coming. It squeaked noisily, climbing onto Ed’s shoulder from time to time to urge him on.
This little squirrel had no resistance when it came to delicious food.
Heading to the corn field, Ed first had to pick some corn, then kill a forest chicken and a few fish. There were a lot of preparations that would have to be done today.
Of course, the star of the show would be the gold-quality anchovy soup. Such an irresistible dish would undoubtedly be the most indispensable part of the feast.
Soon, a mixture of all kinds of smells was spread in the air.
The collision of the scents of the different dishes created a heavy and alluring, heavenly aroma.
If any other survivors were to stumble upon this place now, they would definitely have thought they were in a dream.
If any of the delicacies here were to have been sent out, there was no doubt that they would all have been snatched away in the blink of an eye.
“Little Treasure, come and eat.”
Ed waved at the squirrel.
Little Treasure didn’t hold back, and immediately went into a feeding frenzy. It seemed that it had also used up a lot of energy today.
Getting pursued by the many tigers had obviously been strenuous physical labor, not to mention the fact that it also had to cooperate with Ed.
Ed didn’t forget the most important thing to do before eating. For such an extravagant feast, of course he had to record it with the recording function!
Using his mind. he instructed the system, which came to life.
The recording function was activated instantaneously.
Ed picked up a grilled fish before biting directly into it.
The fish had not been big to begin with. Three bites, and the meal was gone just like that.
Of course, only eating grilled fish continuously would eventually dull the taste. That was why the delectable anchovy soup was there to cleanse the palate.
Ed picked up a wooden bowl, the contents of which was still emitting steam. The silvery-white clear soup looked incredibly appetizing.
Slurp.
Cool!
The same sensation as before flooded through Ed’s body as he drank it, a warm current that seemed to flow through his entire being. The feeling was distinct. However, with more and more consumption, the strengthening effect on the body would diminish. This was something that Ed did not recommend. It was not a divine medicine, naturally, he exercised caution.
So what if the growth now was slow? He currently had a massive anchovy population anyway. If eating one or two of them no longer created a noticeable effect, surely eating 20 to 30 would still have an impact.
Keeping in mind that he was recording his meal, Ed was a little more refined today, and avoided wolfing down his food like usual.
Little Treasure, on the other hand, was different. The squirrel stretched out its small claws repeatedly, eating whatever it caught. The food it stuffed into his mouth made its cheeks bulge, making Little Treasure look very cute.
After a while, there was not much food left before them. This feast had come to an end.
Ed leaned against a stump as he opened the chat interface.
Just as the system had mentioned, all of the survivors had also obtained the ability to record videos. His was just more advanced, allowing him to more conveniently lrecord anytime and anywhere.
Some of the other survivors had already started sending all kinds of videos into the chat interface. There were many comments on each of them, discussing the contents of the videos.
“I just made a barbecue grill today. I wonder what I’ll eat later.”
Ed’s first impression of the person in the video was that he was definitely an expert in posturing, the kind of person who liked to indirectly show off.
As soon as the video had been released, many of the others had begun to interact with each other under it.
“Boss! He actually created a barbecue grill!”
“Tsk tsk tsk, I can already smell the delicious scent of barbecue. Boss, do you need a footrest?”
“What’s so good about a barbecue grill? I harvested five apples today, but I don’t know which one to eat. I’m so conflicted!”
“Am I the only one who’s still gnawing on tree bark?”
Most of his other videos also showed off his daily harvests, with a healthy serving of the man’s self-righteous copywriting as their captions.
“I’m tired of eating meat. It’s also pretty good to occasionally have some corn soup.”
A video that lasted only a few seconds was among them.
“Big Brother!”
“What a lunatic. Tired of eating meat? Give me the meat!”
“Quick, take a look. Are those forest chickens in the background?”
“Damn, it really is. Is this the life of a big shot?”
Ed smiled to himself as he watched.
The discussion was tumultuous, with some people even pausing the videos to analyze the individual frames.
They even listed all the items that had appeared in the video.
This somewhat surprised Ed. Didn’t these people have anything better to do?
Anyway, it didn’t matter. As the person had not revealed his face in any of them, the videos were of little interest to him.
Ed closed the chat interface before switching to his own recording interface.
A black interface appeared in his mind.
The recording interface could have been said to be very intuitive. It allowed a level of editing, and could cut videos that were originally more than ten minutes long into clips only a few seconds long. There was a draft box for storing videos that weren’t intended to be sent out, or simply incomplete ones.
The various videos that Ed had recorded appeared in the interface at the moment.
He clicked on the latest one, which was the video documenting his feast.
He wanted to see if this function was really that useful.
Clicking again on the video, a new display appeared, full of various editing tools.
The only pity was this would all have to be done manually. He couldn’t just will the video into a perfectly edited state with his mind like he could other things, which meant that he would have to slowly adjust the length of the video the old fashioned way.
It took Ed a full five minutes to understand all the functions of the tools in the interface.
However, before he was completely done editing the video of his meal, he hovered curiously on the pink ‘finish’ button in the upper right corner.
Hmm?
