Chapter 664: Chapter 664 Atra Blanc’s Wavering Thoughts_1
Atra Blanc brought a bowl of soup from the kitchen, the creamy beef bone soup was fragrantly steaming. She skimmed off the fat and added some fine vermicelli into the soup, sprinkled some salt, without needing much seasoning, it was already rich and delicious.
As Purple Summers lowered her head to drink the soup, Atra Blanc watched her blankly.
She wanted to say something, but didn’t know what to say.
Advise her daughter to leave her son?… What use would that do? Looking at how Alexander Summers was behaving, it was clear that Purple Summers had no control over the situation. If Alexander was insistent on clinging to her, what could she do?
What was to be done if this continued? If the sibling’s love affair were to spread, what would outsiders say about them? Both Alexander Summers and Purple Summers would be destroyed by public opinion! Especially Purple Summers… Women are inherently the weaker party in such matters, and besides, Purple Summers was only seventeen!
Alexander would ruin her!
The more Atra Blanc thought, the more her heart ached. She had been careless once before, and it had caused Meredith Richards’ death; was she now going to harm Meredith Richards’ daughter too?!
She had sworn an oath to ensure that she took good care of Purple, so why had things turned out this way? It was painful enough that she had been withdrawn and lonely since childhood, but just when she was finally beginning to recover and her studies were improving, now her son had to cause her more harm!
Atra Blanc’s thoughts wandered, her mind in utter disarray.
As Purple Summers lowered her head to drink the soup, she too was thinking these things…
Thinking about it was strange, Atra Blanc’s personality was clearly so traditional, so why had she once acted so out of the norm and gotten together with an old man?
…
For the entire day, Alexander Summers stayed at home to care for Purple Summers. In front of Atra Blanc’s eyes, he was constantly holding her, and except when Purple went to the restroom, they were nearly inseparable.
Atra Blanc trembled with rage but was helpless against her son.
Coming to the next day, seeing that Alexander was still staying at home, Atra Blanc couldn’t hold back any longer and asked, “Don’t you need to go to the company?”
In the past, Alexander often used being busy with the company as an excuse not to come home for long periods.
“I’ll go once she’s better,” Alexander replied.
Atra Blanc bit her lip, glanced at them both, picked up her purse, and turned to leave the house.
Upon hearing two clanks, the door was gently closed; Purple Summers felt immensely complicated.
“Did we upset Mom and drive her away…” she sighed, “I should have explained things properly to her.”
Alexander said, “I’ll talk to her when she gets back.”
“You better talk to her properly,” Purple scrutinized him doubtfully, “You need to clarify everything, don’t purposely upset her.”
“I know. Go back to your reading, don’t worry about it.”
There were only a few days left before the start of the school term, and Purple Summers needed to catch up on her reading.
She leaned on the sofa reading “Constitution” and “Criminal Law.”
Alexander couldn’t stand this; it was like a form of hypnosis to him, and soon enough, he was lying on the couch, fast asleep.
Purple Summers looked at him sleeping and couldn’t help but want to laugh, thinking to herself that he really was like a bandit. Was listening to legal articles for him like hearing curses chanted?
Purple Summers continued to read for a while longer, then feeling drowsy, lay next to Alexander and fell asleep too.
When Atra Blanc came back, upon entering, she was met with the sight of the siblings taking a nap together. Her heart was filled with indescribable emotions. They were both her treasures; she could never bear to hit or scold them from a young age, yet they had committed such serious mistakes.
Atra Blanc sighed deeply and sat down silently nearby, taking out the gold paper foil from the shopping bag.
After a few folds of the gold paper, and a gentle tug on both sides, it transformed into a little three-dimensional ritual ingot. Atra Blanc folded the gold paper ingots patiently, and in no time, a mound of ingots had piled up at her feet.
Waking up, the siblings saw their mother silently folding ritual ingots in the living room, with ritual money and incense also laid out on the table.
The scene was certainly eerie…
