“Pleased to meet you, Mr. Dacia.” Daniel, looking friendly, offered his hand to Dacia.
Dacia, clearly not understanding why Daniel was doing this, froze.
“Shake hands.” I nudged Dacia gently.
When people met, the most common form of greeting was to shake hands. This way, they could express their goodwill and friendliness.
I told Dacia about this.
At my reminder, Dacia remembered and suddenly smiled brightly. He shook Daniel’s hand.
Daniel and his daughter were stunned. They must have been stunned by Dacia’s smile.
“Goodbye, Mr. Daniel.” I quickly greeted him.
“Oh, goodbye,” Daniel responded quickly.
“Bye.” Dacia said good-bye to him too.
The two of us pushed our shopping carts forward. We had only taken a few steps when I was stopped by Mr. Daniel.
“Hey, Miss Annie, please wait.”
He left his daughter and the shopping cart where they were and hurried after us.
“What is it?” I asked in confusion.
Daniel looked first at Dacia, then at me.
“I wanted to inform you of the results of the last interview when I got home. Since we met here, I’ll tell you directly. Congratulations, you’ve been hired.”
Daniel’s words startled me. More accurately, it felt unreal.
I actually passed my interview. Am I really not dreaming?
“That’s great! Thank you!” I said happily.
“You’re welcome. Remember to report to the office tomorrow morning at nine,” Daniel said with a smile.
I nodded. “Yes, I’ll remember. Thank you very much.”
“Bye.” Daniel waved at us and left.
“Did you hear that? I found a job!” I said in disbelief.
“Mm.” (I’m so happy for you.)
“Why don’t we buy a bottle of wine and celebrate?”
I knew it was a bit extravagant to buy wine, but I had to do something to remember this good day.
“Sure.” Dacia smiled and lifted his hand to touch the back of my head like a big brother.
I looked up at him and realized he was getting to know how to be a qualified boyfriend.
After my mood improved, I felt that the strange gazes around were not as scary anymore.
I even took Dacia’s hand graciously just to tell the girls who were thinking about him that this man was mine.
After leaving the supermarket, I took him to a nearby men’s clothing store.
Since I’d found a job, there was no reason for me to keep Dacia wearing my clothes just to save money.
However, he stopped after taking a few steps. He frowned and looked like he was in pain.
“What happened?”
Feeling a little flustered, I glanced at my watch and realized that it had been more than half an hour since I’d left home.
He had said that he could only hold on for 40 minutes while dehydrated. I must find him a place with water!
“Come with me to the hotel!” three-hour
I quickly dragged him to a nearby motel.
“When you enter the hotel later, you must pretend to be fine and endure it, do you hear me?”
I gripped Dacia’s hand tighter to remind him.
He nodded with difficulty while trying his best to conceal that pained expression.
After entering the hotel, we went straight to the front desk.
“Please give me a room for three hours.”
I pretended to be calm, but I was actually very anxious.
“Show me your ID, please,” the receptionist said.
I quickly took out my credentials and handed them to her. She took them and glanced at Dacia again.
“This man needs too as well.”
“He’s not staying. He’s here to see me off,” I quickly explained.
The receptionist obviously didn’t quite believe me, but she couldn’t say anything. She had to get a room for me.
“This is your room card. Enjoy.”
“Thank you.”
I quickly took the room card and left with Dacia.
I was nervous because I noticed spots forming on the back of Dacia’s hand.
Once inside the elevator, he slumped against the wall. His face was starting to grow blotchy too. He looked scary.
My heart ached as I tightened my grip on his hand. “Just hold on a little longer. We’ll be there soon.”
After we got out of the elevator, Dacia couldn’t even walk anymore. I had to carry him.
When I finally found the room, I immediately opened the door and led him inside. I walked straight into the bathroom.
It would take some time to fill the bathtub with water, so I had no choice but to let him sit on the floor while I filled the bathtub. I took off his clothes and turned on the shower to rinse his body.
As soon as he touched the water, Dacia’s legs turned into fish tails.
He looked up at the showerhead, as if he was very thirsty.
The shower alone was not enough to satisfy his needs. He needed to soak his entire body in the water to feel comfortable.
I helped him inside just as the water from the tub was halfway up.
As soon as he stepped inside, the spots on his body quickly faded. His expression was no longer as pained as before.
“Feel better?” I asked while leaning over the side of the tub and looking at him with a worried expression.
His voice was still weak. “Yeah.”
“We’ll go home when you’re done soaking,” I said while taking his hand.
“Oh.” (Aren’t we going to buy clothes?)
“Not anymore.. What if you get dehydrated again?”
