“Really? That’s impressive.” Emma smiled hypocritically. “What’s the name of the work? I wonder if I have the honor of reading it?”
“It’s called the Dream of the Mermaid. It can be searched directly.” Dacia was still calm.
“Oh, the genre is fantasy, isn’t it?” Emma asked.
“It seems to be nonfictional to me,” Dacia replied.
Of course, I knew why he said that. To him, merpeople weren’t just legends.
Emma was stunned for a moment before she laughed. “Annie, your boyfriend is so interesting.”
“Yes, he always talks this way. The thoughts in his head are different from those of others,” I replied.
Emma nodded. “I have the same feeling. ‘Dream of the Mermaid’, is it? I’ll remember it. I’ll definitely read it. May I know your pen name?”
“My name is Dacia.”
He actually used his name as a pen name. How impressive.
I couldn’t wait to go home to turn on my computer and log into the Bole Website to see Dacia’s work!
Emma didn’t drop us off at home after all. Instead, she placed us at the bus stop, which was seven stops away from home.
This was no different from taking the public bus home from the company. Furthermore, it was difficult to find an empty seat at this bus stop.
She was just looking for an excuse to find out about my relationship with Dacia in person.
After watching Emma’s car leave, I immediately asked Dacia, “Did you really write a novel on the Bole Website?”
“Yes, just after you went to work today. I went home and wrote some,” Dacia replied.
“Some? How many? Has it been published already? I heard that the Bole Website is very strict with the review of the works.” I questioned.
Dacia nodded. “So a few days ago, I sent the novel outline to the website’s editor’s email. They were interested, so they sent the work application form.”
He could get the editor’s attention just by sending the outline? That was too easy. I felt like I could be a writer if I did as Dacia said.
“Alright, when I get back, I must take a good look at your work.”
The bus arrived. Although there were not many people inside, there did not seem to be any empty seats.
After I went up with Dacia, all I could do was stand in the car.
Dacia’s appearance caught the attention of the other passengers, something I was used to.
The first thing I did when I got home was turn on my computer. As expected, I saw a folder called “Dream of the Mermaid.”
“Seriously, Dacia, can I see what’s in your folder?” I ask.
“Of course you can.”
Dacia answered me as he made dinner.
Although it was said to be cooking dinner, it was actually just defrosting the raw fish.
Ever since I started to get used to eating raw seafood, the rest of the food and condiments at home had become decorations.
A lot of things hadn’t expired yet, and I couldn’t even bear to throw them away. I’d been thinking about inviting Mandy over for a meal someday so that she could help me consume the ingredients.
Unfortunately… Mandy was already dead.
I felt terrible at the thought of her.
I quickly opened the folder to distract myself with Dacia’s novel.
I opened the document called “Outline” first.
I thought that he would only need to write one or two pages of the outline and briefly explain the content of the story.
Unexpectedly, Dacia’s story outline was fifteen pages long!
Heavens, was this really not the main body of a novel?
I read a few lines casually and could tell that Dacia had excellent writing.
I remembered that he was learning how to speak from me not long ago. Now, he could actually write such a gorgeous and beautiful sentence. It was too shocking!
Just by looking at the plot outline, one could feel that this story was very exciting. Every character in Dacia’s conception was very dynamic.
Of course, the most attractive thing was his worldview and values.
He wanted to tell people through this story that when humans faced the Mermaid Tribe, which was different from themselves and had great power, how would humans interact with them?
Peaceful coexistence? Or would they wage war to wipe out the anomalies in order to protect humanity’s status as the overlord of Earth?
This, of course, was not a fresh topic. Humans always gave themselves illusions about many enemies: zombies, aliens, Godzilla, and so on.
In almost all of these fantasy stories, war broke out.
Dacia’s story was no exception. In his story, a war between humans and merpeople started.
He had set humans as villains and described the merfolk tribe as tragic and great.
Even from the outline, I could feel the anger of being wiped out, as if Dacia had experienced these things himself.
After reading the outline, I couldn’t calm down for a long time.
Bole Website’s editor, since he accepted Dacia’s work so readily, must have felt the same way as I did.
“What do you think?” Dacia asked while coming over.
I nodded. “It’s great. I can’t wait to read the main body!”
“Why don’t we eat first?” Dacia pointed to the fish on the dining table.
We talked about his story as we ate.
“You’re registered as a Bole Website author. Don’t you need to provide identification information?” I ask.
“Of course I needed it, so I used your identification,” Dacia replied..
