Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Bountiful Mission Rewards!
“Ding! Your attribute template has reached the limit of your current level. Do you wish to advance?”
“Advance!”
After the second advance, the experience points from the lord template were finally used up, and Bates’ brand new attribute template was finally being generated!
“Fusion of attribute templates…”
“Extracting battle method… skill generation…”
“Advancement begins…”
“Ding! Your attribute template advancement is complete!”
Bates immediately opened his attribute panel and looked at the attributes after the advancement.
[ template ] : Warrior Attribute Template
[ source ] : Elite Attribute Template Advancement
[ bonus ] : Health + 3,000, Mana + 500, Strength x 15, Agility x 10, Energy x 10, Spirit x 5
[ skills ] : Physical Resistance, Bloodthirst
[ physical resistance: passive skill, beginner. After enduring high-intensity physical attacks for a long period of time, you have gained the [ adaptability ] talent. It gives you resistance to physical attacks. With this skill, you can slightly reduce the damage from physical attacks, and slightly avoid the damage from piercing, bleeding, and serious injuries. ]
[ bloodthirst: status skill. This consumes a third of your health, and temporarily increases physical attack by 10%, and attack speed by 5%. Skill duration: 10 seconds. ]
When he saw his new attribute template, Bates became excited!
It was only a warrior-class attribute template, yet, it wasn’t that inferior to the lord-class template that Geer had. Although the health bonus was slightly lower, the other bonuses were good.
With Bates’ devouring evolution skill and soul bonus, it was a comprehensive development without any disadvantages!
Bates believed that when his attribute template advanced to lord-tier, it would be even more powerful than Geer’s lord-tier template!
He took a look at his current soul points and prepared to upgrade his skills.
After many consecutive days of hunting, he obtained four soul points. Alongside, the five soul points given by the Geer, Bates now had 11 soul points!
The first skill he upgraded was [ bloodlust ].
This skill was similar to Geer’s [ bloodlust rage ], and could be of great use during critical moments. He added ten soul points to [ bloodlust ]. It increased the duration of the skill to 20 seconds, and increased physical attack by 15%, and attack speed by 10%.
He continued to add more, increasing the time duration to 30 seconds, attack to 20%, and speed to 15%.
When Bates invested four soul points into [ bloodlust ], the skill blurred and became a brand new skill.
[ bloodlust warrior: status skill. It consumes a tenth of your health, to increase a physical attack by 50%, and an attack speed by 45%, for a short period of time. Duration: 120 seconds. ]
For a duration of two minutes, 50% more physical attack and 45% more attack speed allowed this skill to become another one of his ultimate skills.
Next up was [ physical resistance ].
After investing one soul point, the physical resistance was raised from beginner to intermediate. Without hesitation, he added a second soul point.
The [ physical resistance ], which had already reached intermediate level, suddenly disappeared, and it merged with the [ heavy armor shell ] skill to become a brand new skill.
[ resistant armor shell: passive skill. The tough and flexible armor now provided you with a powerful defensive ability. You could reduce the damage caused by physical attacks by a moderate amount, and you could also greatly reduce the damage caused by piercing, bleeding, and serious injuries. ]
Looking at his brand new skill description, Bates began to ponder. ‘The heavy armor shell and the intermediate item resistance have the same effect, which must be why they fused together. What about the attribute resistance? If I can gather all the attribute resistance, or raise them to a higher level, will the attribute resistance be fused together with the armor skill?’
Looking at the three resistance skills that had yet to light up, Bates stopped adding soul points and opened the mission panel.
Before Bates’ defeat, the mission status read:
“The rise of the Goblin Kingdom: even the stupidest race will give birth to a wise man. By chance, the Goblin Kingdom obtained the inheritance of its ancestors, and its strength greatly increased. A leader named Geer rose to power, and defeated many goblin tribes and united them. He declared himself to be a great general, preparing to establish the Goblin Kingdom and unify the Dark Forest”
“As a member of the Dark Forest, you only have two choices: one: gain Geer’s trust and join the Goblin Kingdom.”
“Two: kill Geer and stop the establishment of the Goblin Kingdom.”
Now he’d defeated Geer, the mission had been completed.
When he opened the mission panel, the sound of a system notification rang in his head.
“Ding! You have killed the goblin general Geer and completed the mission; the rise of the Goblin Kingdom.”
“You can choose two of the following options as the reward for completing the mission.”
“1. You have killed the goblin general Geer and destroyed the upcoming Goblin Kingdom. You can choose to replace Geer’s position in the Dark Forest and become the new overlord. You can freely choose your family and your race.”
“2. You single-handedly destroyed the goblin kingdom, and have displayed incomparable courage and wisdom. You can choose a skill to immediately level up. This skill can exceed the maximum limit that you can currently endure.”
“3. You are destined to be strong with the ability to devour evolution. However, no matter how strong your potential is, you still need time to grow. You can undergo a mock evolution during your next evolution, greatly increasing the intensity of your next evolution.”
“4. You can obtain 30 free attribute points.”
“5. You can randomly pick a piece of equipment that is no lower than gold grade. It can be equipped and used by you.”
“You can choose two of these five rewards.”
After reading through the five options listed by the game, Bates could not help but feel proud and excited at the prospect of these bountiful rewards.
The most worthless out of the five, was the 30 free attribute points, and even that would still greatly increase one of his attributes.
The remaining four options were all extremely valuable.
The first option, to replace Geer as the overlord of the Dark Forest, was important. The overlord of the Dark Forest had been killed, and now, Bates had the option to become the next novice village boss!
