Global Online Survival - Chapter 33
Chapter 33: Anchor Down, Mining!
Ye Jun controlled the doll to start the day’s underwater search.
Diving to the bottom, the fish around the doll didn’t even notice its presence, constantly chasing the glowing pearl in the doll’s hand.
Several arm-length lobsters were snared in the net by the doll before they could react to what was going on.
It used to take a lot of effort to catch them, as lobsters were extremely wary.
“Ding! Mutated seaweed found, would you like to collect it?”
“Collected successfully! +1 Collection Proficiency.”
Ye Jun pulled a small, palm-tall plant out of a pile of seaweed and looked at it.
Mutated Seaweed: normal seaweed mutant that can evolve and has a paralyzing effect with its toxin.
The palm-high seaweed wrapped around the doll’s finger like a small snake, and surprisingly, there were tiny barbs on the surface of the seaweed.
These barbs were faintly blue and toxic!
Luckily, the doll wasn’t afraid of poison. If a person had touched it, they might have just laid here.
This thing wasn’t a bad choice to make it into a whip for fighting.
However, Ye Jun intended to raise it properly. When the seaweed grew larger, he could place it around the ship to protect it, and if he encountered an island in the future and moved to live on it, he could also use the seaweed to make an underwater defensive zone.
The point was, this thing could still evolve.
At that time, the depths of the waster would be densely packed with patches of highly toxic seaweed, and the thought of it was terrifying.
If this were set in modern times, it would have been a great weapon for offshore defensive warfare, even a submarine would be doomed.
He continued searching.
The mud and sand on the seafloor gradually became thinner and rockier.
At a glance, the strange rocky, rugged terrain didn’t look like the bottom of the sea. It was as though he had arrived at a mountain range.
The transformations of the sea.
Perhaps, this used to be land countless years ago.
“Ding! Iron ore found, would you like to collect it?”
Sweeping away the mud and sand from the surface, the rocky mountain revealed its true nature, and it turned out to be a mountain of crimson iron!
The whole iron mountain seemed to be shaped by the flow of water!
Ye Jun guessed that it was probably the solidified molten iron from a volcanic eruption.
“Collect!”
“Collected successfully, +1 Iron Ore. +1 Collection Proficiency.”
“Collected successfully, +1 Iron Ore. +1 Collection Proficiency.”
The iron ore weighed over 10 catties each.
The doll could afford to carry up to three pieces, any more and it wouldn’t be able to swim up.
Two pieces of iron ore, plus a couple of large lobsters, was an average harvest. It took some effort to swim up.
Returning to the ship and dropping off the iron ore, the doll dove right back down to the water and started mining.
Ye Jun wasn’t idle, either. On the ship, he placed the iron anchor into the water.
The last time he encountered a copper mine, he only collected 100 ores before the raft drifted away.
Ye Jun had forged a ship anchor to deal with this kind of situation.
This time, he wouldn’t set sail until the mine was hollowed out.
Ye Jun wanted to build an ironclad ship.
Mining was simple and efficient. Ye Jun could easily multitask.
He carried out a bucket of fish blood and poured it into the sea, attracting carnivorous fish.
Although he was mining, his leveling couldn’t be delayed.
Nowadays, the EXP gained from killing ordinary fish was extremely little—it was next to nothing. Ye Jun’s current goal was large fish.
It better be a shark!
As a Shark Terrorizer, he couldn’t live without killing a few sharks a day.
The rich smell of blood spread quickly throughout the sea.
Soon, the waves rolled and schools of fish were attracted to the area.
It was a school of yellowfin tuna!
Quick to act, Ye Jun flung out the fishing rod in his hand and pulled it fiercely, hooking it directly onto a yellowfin tuna and pulling it over.
This yellowfin tuna was almost the size of a man, and even though it was hooked, it was still jerking around. Its tail smacked Ye Jun on the arm, making his whole arm burn.
Ye Jun knocked it down with a stick, ending it cleanly.
“Killed Yellowfin Tuna (level 2) +5 EXP.”
‘Five EXP, not bad!’
Ye Jun was so enthusiastic that he flung the rod in his hand again.
Another one!
With Ye Jun’s current strength and the toughness of the magical fishing rod, there was no need to worry about the rod breaking; all he had to do was pull forcefully once he hooked a fish.
Three tuna were pulled onto the deck in quick succession.
Ye Jun gained a total of 20 EXP.
At this point, his Hunter level was already 5 (447/500).
He would soon be a level-six Hunter.
At this moment, sharks finally appeared in the distance!
However, the sharks quickly swam far away and never came close to the ship!
“Not enough blood, or is my “Shark Terrorizer” title making them feel intimidated?”
Ye Jun was a bit puzzled.
He thought about it. He then chopped off the head of a tuna and hung it off the side of the boat, leaving it floating in the water.
The strong smell of blood was making the sharks in the distance a bit restless!
The wages of avarice was death!
Sharks were no exception!
Despite the feeling that the ship posed a natural threat to them, the sharks weren’t smart, and they immediately became hot-headed as they charged forward, stimulated by the blood.
“Kill!”
Ye Jun drew his bow and shot at the largest shark.
Now, Ye Jun had plenty of experience hunting sharks.
A short distance of 30 meters and a target this big, even a girl could hit it[1]!
Knowing he had won with one arrow, Ye Jun didn’t even look at it as he shot another arrow at another shark.
With a rope tied to the end of the arrow, Ye Jun wasn’t worried about the shark that got hit escaping, so he had to shoot more sharks as fast as he could before the other sharks could react.
Whoosh…
Four arrows in a row!
The other sharks finally got scared.
The strange-looking creature on the ship had already given them a sense of danger as if he was their natural predator, and now, the painful struggles and hissing of their companions around them made them feel even more fearful.
The remaining sharks fled!
Ye Jun thought that it was a pity and that he should have lured the sharks closer before striking.
“Killed great white shark (Level 5) +50 EXP.”
“Killed great white shark (level 5) +50 EXP. Hunter level up, current level 6 (47/600) reward: +10 Speed, +10 Endurance, +100 Strength.”
With this increase in level, his Strength was increased by 100 points!
Ye Jun was very surprised, knowing that all previous increases in level to Strength were only 50 points!
It seemed like the enhancements that came with leveling increased as one reached higher levels!
The two remaining sharks rolled and struggled in the sea, the ropes taut from their powerful force that pulled even the ship, but the barbed arrows pierced so deeply into the sharks that it couldn’t break free in a short time
Seeing that the ship was being pulled to a tilt even with the anchor lowered, Ye Jun suspected that the entire ship could have been pulled away by these two sharks.
He casually shot down another one.
“Killed great white shark (level 5), +20 EXP.”
???
‘Just now it was 50 EXP, and now it shrunk by more than half?’
‘What a terrible deal!
Ye Jun looked at the last shark and hesitated, giving up on the idea of ending its life.
‘I’ll keep it for now!’
‘Raise it till it becomes a Boss before killing it!’
Now, there was a great white shark on the stern in addition to the electric ray!
However, this great white shark was not only badly injured, but also occasionally electrocuted by the electric ray next to it. It spent the whole day in convulsions, which was something worse than death!
