Chapter 53: Let’s Try Marrying Each Other!
Su Bei had always felt that the man in front of her was nothing more than his riches.
The only other thing she could think of was his identity that looked very similar to that of a gangster. However, what he said at that moment caused her to view him differently.
She felt something was strange.
Su Bei looked at the man beside her who was looking forward, his eyes on the road. His face was silent and his pursed lips showed a sign of seriousness.
“Did I really look like that?” Su Bei asked softly.
The man immediately looked towards her. Under the sun, a shade of gold was coated around him. The stern expression he had just now had softened.
“Yes.” He looked at her with confident eyes.
Su Bei smiled lightly. “Nobody ever said that!”
The man’s tone was serious. “Because you never had a man who truly loves you!”
He hesitated for a while. “You should go take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Even if there’s nobody around you to give you warmth and happiness, you should be giving yourself the smile you have on right now.”
He smiled too. “You should smile like that in the future.”
Su Bei quietly listened to him. “Why?” she asked.
A smirk of confidence and arrogance appeared on his face, and an arrogant tone could be heard in his voice. “Because you met me!”
Su Bei smiled even more. “You think you’re some sort of medicine? Able to cure all kinds of diseases, even reviving people from the dead?”
“I’m not medicine. However, I can cure the disease in your heart!” Hua Jinan said.
Su Bei laughed while looking towards him, and played with her hair with one hand. “You’re really interesting. Then what should I call you?”
“What do you want to call me?” Hua Jinan smiled at her.
Su Bei supported her head with her fingers and thought about it seriously.
After a while, she turned her body towards him, her watery eyes giving off a sense of playfulness, and spoke in a more playful tone. “How about Hua Tuo*?”
He could not resist laughing. “Hua Tuo?” he repeated.
The woman nodded. “Yes.”
Hua Jinan raised his eyebrows. “Impossible.”
Su Bei’s expression darkened. “Why not?”
“There’s no reason why. I just don’t like it!” The man spoke coldly.
However, Su Bei seemed to be having fun. She looked at his serious face. “Hua Tuo? Genius doctor?”
“Would you believe that I’ll throw you out of the car right now?” Hua Jinan’s expression turned ugly.
“I don’t believe it.” Su Bei laughed in a way that infuriated him.
The car suddenly stopped, and Su Bei was stunned.
That man really meant it when he said he would throw me out of the car.
The man turned around and looked at her with his deep eyes. “Woman, remember that you’re not alone anymore. If anyone else tries to confess to you or propose marriage to you, tell them right away that you have a husband!”
Hua Jinan spoke with an unusually deep voice, his tone full of seriousness.
Su Bei’s worries of being thrown out of the car dissipated, but she frowned after listening to him. “Mr. Hua, I think you’ve got the wrong idea. I’m a single woman right now, thank you!”
Hua Jinan smiled arrogantly. “Your precious status of being a single woman ended that night.”
Su Bei did not look at him. “I will never marry you.”
She bit her lip, and she was in a struggle. “I already have a person I like.”
“I don’t care!” The man’s tone was icy cold. Su Bei raised her head to look at him, locking his eyes with hers.
Su Bei laughed suddenly. She looked at the man in front of her, and her sparkling eyes were lit by stubbornness. “I will never marry someone I don’t like.”
He did not care. But she did.
“Marry me first. You’ll fall in love with me.” The man’s deep voice could be heard.
Su Bei shook her head. “I will not compromise about the wedding. I would rather be a single mother than marry a man I don’t like.”
Hua Jinan fell silent. He lit a cigarette.
After a while, he said, “Let’s try marrying each other!”
