Chapter 11: No Time to Waste

Freya put on a brave front and looked up at the man’s face.
It was absolutely cold.
Other than coldness, the man had no other expression for her.
Even when he was angry, he simply spoke to her furiously with his face remaining expressionless.
Freya smiled. It was very slight and she looked fearless. “I never felt that way about being Mrs. Carter.”
Gideon’s eyes suddenly turned dark as he looked at her.
Freya continued to smile. “I am not even allowed to eat while I am at home. Also, I have to suffer mockery from you. In comparison to being Mrs. Carter, I think life as a girl from a poor family is easier.”
Gideon’s face looked absolutely cold while he patiently suggested to the woman. “Why don’t we get a divorce then?”
Freya’s smile froze.
In a few seconds, she said, “Sorry, I promised Uncle Charles not to divorce you. For the time being, we can’t get divorced.”
Gideon’s lips twitched. His eyes turned dark as he sneered. “You forced yourself on me. Yet here you are acting as though you were forced against your will. You are disgusting.”
The woman narrowed her eyes. She did not care how he felt about the situation.
She could not be bothered to argue with him.
Freya veered her eyes away. She put on a respectful tone and said, “Mr. Carter, why did you want to see me?”
The moment she mentioned it, Gideon became even more infuriated.
Before the man was able to mock her, someone knocked on the door suddenly.
Gideon and Freya almost looked up in unison.
A female secretary said, “Mr. Carter, Ms. Davis is here.”
Freya was briefly stunned. She automatically turned to look at Gideon’s face. She veered her eyes away again and said calmly, “Mr. Carter, if that is all, please allow me to take my leave.”
The female secretary was still waiting for Gideon to respond but Freya had already turned to leave.
Gideon suddenly reached his hand out and held her by the wrist. The woman turned back in surprise and glanced at his gorgeous face before looking at her wrist.
This was the first time Gideon had any physical contact with her while he was sober.
Freya looked at him with slight anticipation. Would he say no to seeing Ms. Davis?
Instead, all he did was say coldly, “Wait for me at the car park.”
Disappointment flashed in her eyes. She looked at Gideon. “Are we going to the old folks’ home at Mount Plenty?”
A cold light swept through his eyes as he looked at her angrily. “Stop wasting my time!”
She immediately shut her mouth and turned to leave the office.
Uncle Charles had told Gideon to take her to the old folks’ home. He did not want to go, but he could not go against his father’s orders, so he could only take it out on her with his lousy attitude.
To be honest, she was partially to blame for this.
Freya saw Ms. Davis on her way out of the office. It was the same woman who had lunch with Gideon at the restaurant previously.
She was wearing flawless makeup and looked amicable.
Sadly, no matter how harmless Ms. Davis appeared, Freya did not like the sight of her.
After all, Freya was Gideon’s lawful wife.
Since Freya was his lawful wife, it made total sense for her to show a little hostility towards his so-called girlfriend.
When Freya caught Abigail (Ms. Davis) looking at her, she saw that Abigail looked at her with her eyes narrowed and was scrutinizing her in slight disdain.
Freya could not help feeling annoyed by Abigail’s rude stares.
She glared at Abigail fiercely before averting her eyes and heading for the lift.
Abigail felt a little embarrassed. Just as she was about to speak, the female secretary’s voice came from behind her. “Ms. Davis, Mr. Carter is ready to see you.”
