Chapter 12: Who Told You to Sit There?

Abigail turned to look at the female secretary. “Who was that woman?”
“She’s an employee of ours from the sales department,” answered the secretary. She gestured towards the president’s office and said, “Ms. Davis, this way, please.”
Abigail turned to enter Gideon’s office with a smile on her face.
When she saw Gideon standing beside the couch, she naturally walked up to him and held him by the arm. “Gideon, will you have lunch with me?”
“Not today. Maybe next time.”
Abigail was caught by surprise. In the past, Gideon had never once turned her down when she asked for them to eat together.
She could not resist asking, “Not free? Is it because you are going out with that other lady?”
Gideon glanced at her somewhat annoyed, before he averted his eyes and said, “Abigail, this has nothing to do with you.”
Abigail was stunned. It was not about his reprimanding tone. Instead, she was surprised that he did not deny it.
She continued smiling as she shook his arm gently. “Gideon, if you don’t like it, then I won’t ask.”
Gideon pulled his arm away from her. He picked up his suit jacket that was on the couch and said before leaving, “The driver will give you a ride. Just tell him where you want to go. I have to go.”
“Bye bye, Gideon,” said Abigail, but Gideon had already left the office.
…
Freya went back to her department to retrieve her purse before taking the lift to the underground parking lot.
Since she did not recognize Gideon’s car, she could only wait at the lift.
Gideon came downstairs soon afterwards. The moment he walked out of the lift and saw Freya, a look of surprise appeared on his face. “Why are you standing here?”
“I don’t know what car you have, so I could only wait here.”
The man looked at her. “You are so smart.” He was implying something, but she could not be bothered to react.
She followed beside Gideon. When they got to the car, Gideon pressed the car key to unlock it.
Gideon had a Rolls Royce Ghost. When Freya saw it, she felt that the black car suited the temperamental man. Also, she found the luxurious life of a rich president from an important family absolutely incredible.
He was genuinely wealthy. Sadly, he was not very nice.
Freya glanced at Gideon furtively. Then, she looked at the front passenger seat, before then looking at the back seat.
She walked over and opened the back seat door to get in.
Gideon narrowed his eyes on seeing this. “Who told you to sit there?”
Freya instinctively asked, “Huh?”
The man clearly looked annoyed.
Freya pursed her lips and explained. “Isn’t the front passenger seat usually saved for your girlfriend? If I sit there, Ms. Davis will probably get angry, so I decided to take the back seat.”
Ever since Gideon woke up on the second day of their marriage, he told her not to harbor any fantasies about him, so Freya knew exactly where she stood.
She did not expect him to ask her a rhetorical question in a particularly stern tone, “Did you think I would like being your driver?”
Despite Freya’s good nature, she was starting to lose it when Gideon kept picking on her.
She closed the back seat door in a huff and got into the front passenger seat.
Gideon frowned slightly before getting into the driver’s seat.
…
There were some uneven mountain paths on the way to Mount Plenty Old Folks’ Home.
Freya recalled that every time she visited her grandmother at the old folks’ home with her father, the bus ride would get so bumpy that she would nearly get thrown out of her seat.
However, Gideon’s driving felt very steady. The anger Freya had for him promptly disappeared on thinking about this.
She could not resist turning her face slightly to the side, so she could secretly look at the man beside her.
