Chapter 29: Instant Battle
The surface temperature and internal temperature of the nine wolves began to drop under the cold gaze of Paladin Laite·Bellman.
They were beginning to find it difficult to breathe. Their hearts raced as they opened their mouths in loud gasps, releasing bursts of white mist as they hyperventilated.
“Awoo!”
“Awoo!”
Then, a series of ferocious roars sounded back towards him.
Swoosh!
Swoosh!
Swoosh!
The nine wolves were split into three groups. From the left, right, and empty directions, they decided to attack Laite·Bellman first.
In an instant, the three wolves that had moved above his head, reached out with six pairs of sharp, cold claws to stab downwards.
Bam! Bam!
Laite·Bellman however unhurriedly raised his sword above his head, blocking the strikes of six claws in the air.
It only took a moment for the three wolves to disappear from where they were and appear above. If it was an ordinary person, the top of their head would have been split open long ago. If they were unlucky, they would have been beheaded.
However, Laite·Bellman could still pick up his sword to block the werewolves’ instant attack. Such a powerful warrior could have killed all the werewolves present in seconds, but why would he waste time with them and choose to slowly wear them down instead?
Hiding at the side, Harlen’s mind spun quickly as he thought of the possibilities.
Harlen observed the Paladin in front of him with his scarlet eyes, as though sensing that this man was still hiding an unusually strong power.
The other six wolves on the left and right side saw that their comrades’ surprise attack was easily blocked, so they stopped playing any tricks and directly erupted with all their strength to fight all out.
The trio on the left and on the right attacked simultaneously. The three wolves on the left stabbed towards the head, while those on the right stabbed towards the stomach.
At this moment, Laite·Bellman still had his sword raised in defense against the attack of the three wolves above. He only tilted his head slightly and looked coldly at the six attacking his head and abdomen.
Even at this moment, his expression was still bland and emotionless.
However, this impassive face of his caused the blood pressure of his assailants to rise to unprecedented levels.
“Don’t look down on us werewolves, you ignorant Paladin!”
The nine of them shouted in unison.
Feeling as though they had been insulted, they were so angry that even their own attack speed increased, and they launched more rapid continuous thrusts.
Seeing that the sharp claws on his left and right were about to come into contact with his armor, Laite·Bellman simply pushed his sword up slightly. The three above seemed to have been hit by a powerful shockwave and were thrown upwards to smash on the ceiling. Immediately, a large mouthful of blood spurted out from their mouths.
After sending the three wolves flying, Laite·Bellman lowered the sword and quickly spun it around him.
From the start, of pushing his sword up, to sending the werewolves above flying all the way to lowering the sword and spinning it around…
All of this happened in an instant.
This instant coincided with the moment the claws of the six on the ground were about to touch his armor.
Accompanying the horizontal swing of the sword was six streams of blood that spurted out in the air.
The six wolves that were stabbing towards Laite·Bellman’s head and abdomen immediately lost their sense of direction.
Their sudden attacks that had locked onto his position had also deviated from its original trajectory.
These six of them ended up passing by his head and abdomen, one after another, barely centimeters away from the target, before falling heavily to the ground with a heavy thud.
The end result was six werewolves in six different positions, lying on the ground in a sorry state.
There was a large wound on their chests that was stretched as wide as their shoulders. Blood poured out from their wounds.
The nine of them that were attacking Laite·Bellman appeared to have instantly fell to the ground and slammed upwards on the ceiling.
The passersby who were hiding outside the hole in the wall and looking into the pub were stunned once again.
They were stunned for a few seconds before they recovered and started discussing fervently.
“???”
“What happened?”
“Did you see that?”
“How did these six wolves fall to the ground in an instant?”
“Why did these six wolves suddenly have a huge hole in their chests?”
“Why are the three wolves on the ceiling again?”
“Why are all these wolves so heavily injured?”
“What exactly happened?”
“Don’t look at me, I don’t know either!”
“I only saw the nine wolves disappear from where they were, and then they fell to the ground, bleeding all over.”
“Could it be Sir Laite’s attack?”
“I don’t think so. From the moment the wolves disappeared to the moment they fell to the ground, Sir Laite had only been walking towards the wolf that should be their leader lying on the ground. He never stopped at all.”
“Moreover, the greatsword in his hand has been hanging down. I’ve not seen him swing it!”
“What is going on?”
After the passers-by expressed their amazement, they started guessing what had happened.
Everything happened too quickly. The passersby didn’t even blink before everything was over.
Although this group of passersby could not see the battle in that instant, Harlen, who was hiding behind the door, saw it all. The instant attack from the nine werewolves, and then the instant counterattack which resulted in all nine wolves collapsing with serious injuries. Everything was clearly reflected.
Harlen once again sighed in amazement at the extent of increase in his body functions brought about by the blood of the Vampire Queen.
This powerful ability immediately gave him the thought that sometimes, being a vampire was not too bad..
