Chapter 35: Gunshots Everywhere!
The gunshots woke everyone up. They all picked up their weapons, held torches, and leaned against the wall.
Hayley was even more terrified as she held Hades’s arm. She didn’t look like a teacher at all.
“What’s happening outside? Why are there so many gunshots?”
Hades saw outside the campus. They were in the principal’s office building, and they could see outside through the transparent windows.
Under the night sky, there were ten teams of soldiers wearing night vision helmets. There were about a hundred of them. They were very well-organized, like a team.
Everyone relied on each other and broke through the gate of the campus one after another.
The zombies hiding in the darkness pounced on the soldiers when they saw them.
However, the soldiers were all wearing night vision goggles. Every move of the zombies was in their eyes.
The night didn’t work, and as soldiers, they didn’t panic when they saw the zombies. Instead, they calmly fired.
The rifles in their hands released tongues of fire, attacking the zombies in the darkness.
The zombies that had killed countless students and trapped them for a week felt that they couldn’t resist.
Under the coordination of the army, they were like targets, getting shot one by one.
This was the source of the gunshots, and also the savior that all the survivors were looking forward to.
It was finally here!
Hades saw that many teams were advancing rapidly on the campus. All the zombies that were wandering around the campus were all killed.
The army formed by the zombies were all useless. They all fell under the bullets of modern guns.
After all, the zombies were only human corpses that had been resurrected. They didn’t have steel-like bodies. Being pierced by bullets was still a very simple thing.
They had the same weaknesses as humans. They were afraid of fire, smashing, and bullets.
When zombies were hit by fatal parts, they would still die, and they wouldn’t be resurrected again.
The only chance for them to be resurrected was when they became zombies.
Moreover, they had lost their discipline. The army-like zombies from before had also disappeared. Perhaps, the commander saw that the campus couldn’t be broken through, so he left.
After all, this was only a small campus. There was no need to fight to the death here. The outside world was a wider world.
The small teams advanced very quickly. From the school gate to the teaching building, they did not hear any footsteps. They swept through the zombies on the road.
A military truck followed behind them. A loudspeaker sounded:
“Students, wake up! Don’t be afraid, the zombies have all been eliminated! We are the military, we are here to take you home!”
“Please pick up your personal belongings, listen to the unified arrangements, and come to the operation assembly! Don’t do anything excessive. This is an emergency situation, anyone who doesn’t listen to the command may be treated as a zombie and be eliminated!”
In a few pairs of open-top jeeps, behind them were ten military trucks. They came in from outside the school in an imposing manner.
Their voices resounded throughout the night sky.
At this moment, the survivors left behind in the male and female dormitories, classroom buildings, office buildings, and the cafeteria.
They were so happy that they cried and knelt on the ground.
Some of them had been hungry and thirsty for a long time. After hearing this voice, they finally heard hope again.
Many of them had finished the last bit of food and water.
Many of them didn’t even want to die in the zombie’s mouth. They even thought of suicide.
They were about to lose hope. Finally, they heard the voice they had been waiting for.
They didn’t expect happiness to come so suddenly. They were finally able to survive.
Seeing this scene, Hades knew that the school was finally safe.
These well-trained soldiers had enough bullets. They could kill all the zombies and collect the survivors.
Julia and the others all gathered. They were all dressed neatly and looked very excited.
Hades and the others looked so happy, but they shook their heads and said,
“The crisis is over. You all have a good future. You can go.”
Many of them had their own plans. They were not familiar with Hades, so they only wanted to find food with him for the time being.
With a better choice for the army, they naturally left the school building to seek the protection of the army.
The army meant stability, so it was even more comforting.
Julia was not willing to leave, and so was Hayley.
They wanted to stay by Hades’s side.
For some reason, after meeting Hades, they wanted to stick to her, as if he had more magic power.
He seemed to have a completely different sense of security. This sense of security gave people a more stable feeling than the army.
Hades did not plan to go to the army at all, because with his current strength, he did not need the protection of the army.
Moreover, he had killed thousands of zombies, which was seen by all the students.
Once he joined the army, he didn’t know how he would be treated.
Would he be imprisoned or studied.
But what was certain was that he would lose his freedom temporarily, and he wouldn’t be able to do whatever he wanted.
In the conversation just now, Hades thought of his parents. He felt that if he stayed in the army, it would be very difficult to find his parents.
Therefore, Hades did not plan to stay in the army. He planned to bring enough houses to travel in the outside world.
If others were willing to come with Hades, he would not refuse.
But for more ordinary people who did not have the ability to protect themselves, staying in the army and receiving protection was the best outcome.
Hades did not care about what others thought. He packed his things. There was only food and water in there, except for his invisible backpack which was full.
He also brought a huge backpack.
Because he didn’t know what he had encountered outside, he had prepared enough. It was definitely not wrong.
After saying that, Hades ignored them. He picked up his backpack and walked downstairs.
The others stayed behind and accepted the protection of the army.
This was the best choice for them.
Hades was destined to be a lone hero.
