- Chapter 67-2 - I Became a Guide For My Childhood Friend Chapter 67-2
“You really came?”
“Yes, I did.”
“Alright. I’ll believe you.”
From Cassian’s insistence, it’s highly probable that it wasn’t a lie.
It wasn’t just an apology to escape the situation.
When she got really sick, Cassian really visited her and stayed by his side.
She almost didn’t believe him because she couldn’t remember it quite clearly.
But now, every time she replaced her brother’s face in that particular memory with Cassian, it felt like he really was there.
The disappointment that had melted a bit due to his previous apology had now disappeared without a trace.
Her heart was filled with warmth as if she were floating on a cloud.
“How do you feel, Yernia?”
“The candy raised my mood.”
Cassian smiled, ecstatic.
Yernia knew it was strange to hide her feelings after she got caught so she roughly glossed over it.
The candy was delicious.
The lemon-flavored candy seemed sweet today.
Yernia grinned, rolling her candy on the other cheek.
Anyway, she felt more bashful in front of Cassian than normal.
“I’m already sorry that I have to ruin your good mood.”
“What do you mean?”
“I have to disinfect your wound.”
Cassian took the gauze and medicine out of the drawer.
“Do you have to do it now?”
Yernia frowned as she regarded him coldly.
“I don’t want to do it right now either, but I’m busier than I thought.”
“Then, I guess we can’t help it.”
Yernia decided to fling her dress up to her stomach.
It was something that she would have never done in a panic but now it felt different.
However, there was nothing to be alarmed about as long as Cassian had dressed her up from head to toe.
“Why did you have to bring all that?”
When he said he would disinfect her wound yesterday, Yernia came to her senses.
As soon as she opened her eyes, Cassian would proceed with it.
She shook her head in refusal but Cassian said that he couldn’t disinfect her wound properly if she was asleep.
The instant Yernia attempted to lift her skirts, Cassian stopped her and convinced her to wear his pants first.
Now, she was forced to wear her husband’s pants, which were much bigger than hers, while half-asleep.
She tied the waistband roughly with a hair tie, but it turned out to be more comfortable than she thought.
“Are you going to the battlefield again?”
“No. I will be attending a meeting.”
He started unfastening the bandage around Yernia’s waist.
Cassian’s reaction to her hideous wound didn’t look too good.
Yernia had a similar reaction and she immediately lowered her gaze.
‘It’s going to scar horribly.’
The moment she regained consciousness after being stabbed, the concerning thought crossed her mind.
Having an ugly scar on her body was quite saddening and it wasn’t just because she couldn’t show it to anyone.
Every time she saw this scar, she would be reminded of Habin.
“What happened to Habin, Cassian?”
Yernia didn’t hear anything about him at all.
She didn’t ask about him yesterday since her body was in so much pain the moment she regained her consciousness.
Also, Cassian was always in a hurry.
“Why? Do you want to get back at him?”
“No. Not really. I just wanted to ask him why he did it. He could have escaped the barracks by himself, why did he have to stab me of all people?”
“What’s the point of asking that? People often desert the Royal Militia and that is considered normal. However, trying to escape and taking someone else as a hostage? Only a few cases with a similar scenario were reported to authorities.”
“Still——”
Cassian bent his knees to sit down so that he could apply some medicine on Yernia’s wound.
The sting had caused her to wince and her muscles to tighten.
“Don’t worry about him anymore. Just do your best to recover.”
After spreading the rolled bandage, he got up from his seat and suddenly bent his upper body as if to hug her.
Cassian did envelop her in his warm embrace without warning.
Expecting it to some extent, Yernia breathed his masculine scent in deeply and it smelled particularly strong when they were this close.
She thought it was perfume at first but Cassian wasn’t someone who would bring perfume to a battlefield.
When did he start smelling so good?
Yernia had no idea even if they were always together.
“I’ll take care of you.”
Cassian seemed intent on bandaging her.
Her gaze fluttered through his thick lashes and frowning red lips from intense concentration.
His high nose bridge made him look handsome as well.
Yernia cupped Cassian’s face in a stupor.
At the sudden contact, he narrowed his eyes at her.
“What is it?”
As she looked at Cassian in hopes that he would answer her questions, Yernia repeated the conversation they had a moment ago.
She wanted to know what happened to Habin.
“Don’t be curious about Habin anymore.”
“I see.” She replied listlessly.
Cassian turned his head to press his lips on Yernia’s hot palm as if her fever came from there.
Cassian intentionally rubbed his cheek against her palm when she tried to drop her hand.
“Touch me more. I like your hands.”
At times like this, he looked like an innocent puppy again but he was too large to be called that.
“Your wounds won’t scar, Yernia.”
“It’s better not to promise anything you can’t keep.”
“Why can’t I keep it? I can get a potion.”
For a moment, she forgot that there was a way to erase the scar.
Magic potion!
The problem was that… its price was as expensive as a house big enough for them to live in.
“Will you do it for me, Cassian?”
No matter how much money the Duke’s son had, there were still many holes to get out of here and there.
He did business and donate, as well.
