- Chapter 69-2 - I Became a Guide For My Childhood Friend Chapter 69-2
Cassian wanted Yernia to care about him and if he did confess, she would probably treat him differently.
However, Yernia blocked his words first, overshadowing his concern.
“Oh! It feels warm.”
She really had no idea about anything.
Every word she said made him feel like an idiot.
She didn’t even know that he couldn’t confess his feelings properly because he hated wasting his love for her.
“Sleep on top of me again tonight.”
“No. It’s uncomfortable.”
“Why? At least, you’ll be warm.”
“That’s….”
‘Please like me as soon as possible, Yernia.’
Even if her heart didn’t feel the same way as him, he was eager for her attention to be directed towards him even for a little bit.

“Who? Major?”
When someone walked into the barracks, Ricks forced his closed eyes to open.
It appeared like the sun hadn’t risen but it wasn’t dawn yet.
It was still night time.
“Why are you here? What’s going on?”
It was his superior, Major Ricardo, who came to visit him in the middle of the night.
Felix, who was half asleep, jumped up from his seat and gave him a salute.
No matter how close they were, Cassian was still their boss.
“Sorry to wake you up in your sleep.”
Major Ricardo seemed to have a large thing hanging unto his shoulder.
For a moment, he thought it was a person but he had a hunch it wasn’t due to how large the thing was.
He put down what he had brought on his shoulder to the ground.
Upon looking closely, he realized it was a wolf.
“I don’t think I’ve been able to feed the troops with some meat lately.”
“You caught a wolf?”
A lot of monsters had occupied the forest.
There were still forests whom the monsters couldn’t reach but most of the animals had moved their habitats.
Wild animals were a bit rare so he had no idea where he was able to catch a wolf.
Ricks knelt in front of the wolf and confirmed that it was dead.
“It’s a wolf, indeed.”
“Alright. Thank you. The troops will love this.”
Ricks was moved by his superior’s concern for his men that he wasn’t even angry about waking up in the middle of the night.
He liked their boss even if he had the power he didn’t have.
He was also younger but he was more mature than him.
“Let’s skin it as well.”
Skinning animals and selling them was common.
Nevertheless, the Major didn’t have to do such a thing since he was stinking rich.
No one in the Empire would have known that Duke Lecardo had great wealth which made Ricks wonder for a moment.
Are you going to use the wolf fur, Major?”
“Yes.”
Ricks didn’t think he would sell it.
Was he going to wear it then?
After contemplating, Rick’s realization was like a lightning strike.
Major Ricardo’s wife!
He was going to wrap Yernia with the wolf fur.
“As expected, you’re a wonderful husband.”
“Stop talking nonsense and go back to bed.”
Annoyed by Rick’s admiration, Major Lecardo left the barracks.
Ricks sighed in front of the giant wolf.
This would need a lot of work so he should take a nap first.
Ricks fell back on the bed.

“Major.”
Yernia woke up to a familiar voice outside the barracks.
Cassian patted Yernia’s shoulder while she was rubbing her eyes and her drool was dripping at the corner of her lips.
“You should sleep more, Yernia. It’s still dawn.”
His index finger gently rubbed her wrinkled brows before exiting the barracks.
As he walked through the cloth, he saw Felix coming in the early morning.
For three days, Ricks carefully skinned and dried the wolf’s fur outside.
“Well done, Captain Ricks. I won’t forget your sincerity.”
“Yes. I know you know my heart.”
“Yes. I won’t forget about it so go now.”
Taking the fur, Cassian filled his lungs with the cool morning air to the fullest.
It had already been a week since Yernia got hurt.
Cassian had to wait for his recovery after forcing himself to eat a lot of monsters.
He couldn’t leave Yernia alone, so the plan was postponed.
Fortunately, it was possible because it killed the devil, which was the most troublesome thing.
It often caused Cassian to suffer from hallucinations.
The things he ate gathered together to press against his shoulder.
Fortunately, it became possible that the most troublesome monster had been killed.
As a result, Cassian often suffered from hallucinations but all of them disappeared every time he held Yernia’s hands and kissed her.
He preferred doing that to show his adoration instead of guiding.
He would have been willing to do it even if it wasn’t about that.
Guiding was just an excuse.
“It’s cold.”
As the cold wind came into the barracks because the tent was lifted, Yernia rolled herself up and mumbled in her sleep.
Cassian approached her on tip-toes before wrapping the wolf fur over her small frame.
He was careful not to disturb her sleep as he sat on the bed.
The corner of his lips curled upward as he looked down at Yernia sleeping.
Oh.
Cassian couldn’t wait to go back to a safe place where he and Yernia could be together.
He intended to end the war as soon as possible.
