- Chapter 72-1 - I Became a Guide For My Childhood Friend Chapter 72-1
Yernia bit her lips for no reason.
She pretended she didn’t hear that as she rubbed her innocent eyes.
Cassian didn’t mention that this was about ‘guiding’.
When he kissed her until now, he always had an excuse, whether it was ‘guiding’ or helping her drink the medicine.
This time, he said it was the price for ruining his snowman.
Yernia knew that it wasn’t an excuse.
Her heart was pounding and she knew it wasn’t cold anymore.
***
By the time Yernia’s wound healed, Cassian went back into battle.
No matter how much he needed a break, he couldn’t rest for a long time.
Also, Yernia didn’t want Cassian to avoid anyone or anything else because of her.
Apart from that, it bothered her a little to send Cassian to the battlefield, but she didn’t show it.
“I don’t want to leave you, Yernia. What should I do?”
On the night of their meeting to discuss strategy, Cassian said under his breath while stroking Yena’s hair as she lay down with her eyes closed.
Then, he kissed Yernia’s forehead.
In fact, she wasn’t asleep at the time.
The moment Cassian laid down on the bed, she planned to give him a jump-scare but she threw that thought out of the window when she felt something warm touch her forehead.
“It’ll just take a few days. Don’t get sick until then. If you get sick when I’m away, I’ll have to punish you when I get back.” Cassian threatened, wrapping the fur coat she had removed earlier over her body before he left.
That was already a week ago.
The battle seemed to be longer than she thought.
Yernia hadn’t even heard from Cassian for a week.
*SIGH*
Still, even if he went to battle, he would usually return to them at night, but this time it was different.
Yernia couldn’t help worrying.
“Do you want some jelly?”
It was Anna, a nurse whom she grew quite close with, who secretly gave jelly to Yernia.
Yernia decided to work at the treatment center again after Cassian went to the battle.
She got pretty close to Anna when she told her that eating something in secret would make the food taste even better.
“Yes, I will.”
Pretending to yawn, Yernia put the jelly in her mouth while Anna chewed hers at the speed of light.
She wasn’t obvious at all.
How would she become a master like Anna?
Captain Felix, who just woke up, sat next to Yernia, who was eating jelly without thought.
“Me. Me, too.”
“What?”
“Give me a jelly, as well.”
Captain Felix reached out to Anna, the owner of the jelly, and she glared at him in response.
Yernia watched the two excitedly.
“You’re funny. Why are you asking jelly from me? I didn’t even eat one.”
“You smell sweet. Do you want to keep denying it?”
Embarrassed, Anna slapped Captain Felix on the cheek when he moved his face close to her mouth.
The other nurses looked at the two in amusement.
Yernia assumed that they might become lovers at this rate.
These days, Anna and Captain Felix were often together.
Most of the time, Captain Felix would stick to Anna’s side, asking for jelly.
Anna would refuse him at first but would give it to him later before telling him to get lost.
“Huh? What are you doing here?”
In the end, Captain Feliz, who got jelly from Anna today, didn’t even try to eat it in secret.
He, who was grinning and chewing jelly, walked towards his colleague who came in after walking through the barracks’ curtains.
“Why did I come? I came for treatment.”
Captain Reward answered him.
Harbin’s Esper had her long hair tied to one side.
Yernia found the woman difficult.
An Esper and a guide had to be seen as separate beings but it wasn’t easy.
She tried to tell herself that Captain Reward didn’t have anything to do with this.
Unwilling, Yernia wanted Captain Reward to go to another nurse, but everyone seemed busy.
She had no idea where Anna had gone at the moment and the other nurse had been taking care of some other patient for a while.
In the meantime, several injured people have visited the treatment center.
Fortunately, it wasn’t a lot.
Just one or two people would get injured, but every time a wounded soldier came, Yernia would always worry about her husband.
“You’re so clumsy these days. Do you think you’ll get promoted with that?”
“I’ll get promoted someday. Don’t worry about me because I’ll get ahead faster than you.”
Yernia approached Captain Reward who was in agony, thinking she’d better ask news regarding Cassian.
There had been several opportunities to ask the soldiers visiting the treatment center, but Yernia didn’t do it.
If she heard some bad news about Cassian, her stomach wouldn’t be able to take it.
But after a week without notice, she couldn’t stand it anymore.
She was so curious and worried about what happened to him.
Captain Reward appeared to have injured her leg.
“Can I see your legs for a second?”
She nodded.
For now, Yernia should treat her first.
