“Yes.”
Carrie’s stiff attitude was loosened, but Leticia could not be pleased with the compliment.
Isn’t it because of the sweet compliments that I haven’t noticed anything wrong so far?
Carrie said in a bright voice as if she had not noticed Leticia’s brooding reaction.
“I hope you stay here for a long time.”
“How long has Carrie been here?”
“1 year.”
Carrie stepped down from the shinny window and picked up a bucket full of dirty water.
“It’s your first day, so go and rest. If you go up the employee stairs to the fourth floor, you will see the rooms for the employees. Our room is on the left side, so you can choose an empty bed. Don’t use the room with all the beds empty.”
“Should I throw away the water?”
“It’s okay, so hurry up and go rest. You don’t even know the structure of the mansion yet.”
“Thank you.”
“Thank you for everything.”
Carrie grumbled out of the drawing room first and showed Leticia the way to the employee stairs.
Leticia looked around carefully as she climbed the stairs.
‘What happened?’
The Baron’s mansion was several times larger than the rich family’s in which Leticia had worked. The interior decoration was magnificent as well.
But it just didn’t look like an aristocratic mansion. I don’t know if it was a place that used to be a noble’s mansion in the distant past.
Dust piled up in places where it was difficult to reach, and spider silk was seen everywhere.
It meant that there were employees who were working, but they were insufficient in number and not meticulous.
Arriving on the fourth floor, Leticia opened each room assigned to the maids.
Two rooms were completely empty, and the other room had two extra beds.
Leticia chose the room closest to the stairs. She pondered over her day in bed.
‘That’s why you picked me.’
It meant that there was no place for Leticia to go in the capital if it was not a mansion of this level.
‘I have to somehow survive here.’
There was a rumor that Baron Jefferson would never accept an employee who left once again.
Leticia thought about Sally, Beth, and Carrie.
Sally seemed to like her but as a head maid, she probably won’t run into the new maid so much.
Looked like it was Beth who was managing the maids, but I was sure that she was a mean person.
In the case of Carrie, her first impression was blunt but kind.
‘I need to grab Beth’s heart.’
Leticia closed her eyes. I should sleep while I can. It was an unwritten rule that I realized when I dug up severan and did housework from a very young age.

“I can’t do it anymore. I’d rather talk to the wall!”
“Sir Ganite, please be patient….”
“What a fool, the crown prince of this country!”
Ganite huff.
“Walls have ears too. Be careful.”
But Ganite didn’t stop.
“Let me give you one piece of advice. Sir George, find a way to live. If you only believe in that idiot prince, one day you will have your neck blown off or you will sit on the road as a bastard.”
“His Highness Michael is not an idiot.”
Ganite snorted.
“There must be only Lord George in the world who thinks so.”
“…….”
Ganite disappeared triumphantly.
‘Son of a b*tch.’
George Volmer swears at Ganite’s back.
‘This is why scholars can’t.’
A scholar who has been knighted only for his academic achievements, who has never lifted a sword, what can a nerdy scholar know about loyalty.
George clenched his fist. Everyone was thinking Michael was either crazy or at least an ignorant idiot.
But George had a different idea.
Michael’s father, a cousin of the current emperor, was the smartest person he had ever met.
The very fact that the collateral imperial family, who was normal to be knocked down here and there, lived a happy life with atrocities that threatened the spirit of the duke was proof of that.
But living too well has become a problem
Michael’s parents died one day and Michael, who was a baby, was ordered by the emperor that day to be kept secret in the countryside.
That was nine years ago.
Those who raised him for 8 years were more like a well-trained mercenary than a nanny, and it seems that they had no affection for Michael.
‘If he had been raised by an ordinary nanny, it wouldn’t have been this far.’
George vividly recalled the shock of one year ago, when he finally met the son of his former master for the first time.
“Your, Your Highness Michael?”
“……”
“I’m George Volmer, who served His Majesty Anthony. His Majesty the Emperor has ordered me to bring Your Highness to the palace.”
“…….”
“Your Highness, your name is Michael Sonnette Debrandt, the crown prince of this empire!”
“Tree.”
“Yes……?”
“Tree.”
At first, George thought Michael was teasing him. But soon he found out that Michael only spoke that way.
Goerge was half-mad at the shock that the son of a man who was more brilliant than anyone else had grown so shabby.
“How can he not make one sound!”
George drew his sword immediately and threatened to kill the mercenaries who had taken care of Michael.
A mercenary opened his mouth with a smirk.
“Sir George, we have a report. And the Emperor always replied directly to me.”
“What, what did you say!”
“He was doing great, so leave it as it is.”
George managed to escape reminiscence only when his fingernails pierced his palms.
He sighed. No matter how much he looks back on the past, nothing is resolved.
George opened the door and entered the study where Michael was educated.
“Your Highness Michael, I’m sorry for bringing in such a person. I will give him a hard time and kick him out, so…….”
“Leticia.”
“Your, Your Highness?”
George doubted his ears.
So far, Michael never spoke out anyone’s name or title.
The testimony of the mercenaries who raised him was the same.
Michael recited the name clearly again, asking if he didn’t understand it.
“Leticia.”
***
“Leticia.”
Beth’s shrill voice echoed in the hallway.
Leticia, who was working hard at waxing, raised her head and looked at Beth as she strode towards her.
“May I help you?”
“There ‘s an empty hand in the kitchen.”
“…….”
“Leave it to Carrie. Don’t forget to wash your dirty hands first before you go.”
Carrie tapped Leticia on the shoulder and gave a congratulatory smile.
Leticia approached Beth with a puzzled face. It’s been a week since she came to Baron Jefferson.
Leticia didn’t intend to overwork herself, so instead of overdoing it as before, she only worked as hard as possible.
However, unlike the rich family’s maid in her hometown, who showed signs of disappointment, the maids of this mansion admired and enjoyed the work of Leticia.
In the meantime, Leticia has been reluctant to hear the compliment no matter how sincere they sound.
She was immersed in the praise given by her family, but she didn’t even notice what she was doing.
But just now, Beth rewarded her instead of praising her.
I’m sure it’s true that the kitchen is empty.
‘But the worker must have been empty before I even entered this mansion.’
The reason Leticia was sent to the kitchen she had originally wished for was obviously Beth’s favor to her.
“Thank, Thank you.”
“Are your hands empty? Carrie well, you’re a veteran in this house, so you can do it on your own.
Carrie frowned and begged Beth.
“You have to give me the next newcomer….”
“All right, all right. If there’s an applicant.
“Please don’t go, Leticia!”
Leticia smiled and shook her head, then made a flighty step toward the kitchen with Beth.
The thought that I was going to finally learn to cook properly made me hum.
Of course, for several years, I was confident in cooking because I already cook three meals a day for my family.
But even in Leticia’s opinion, food that could be easily made and eaten by ordinary households was unlikely to sell well in restaurants.
‘I need to cook food that people are willing to spend their money on.’
The new memories showed Leticia a variety of delicious foods.
Unfortunately, Leticia in her previous life was not a fan of cooking, so she spent a lot of money eating delicious food instead of cooking herself.
Leticia wanted to make money in the same way as people in her previous life.
To do that, I had to learn everything I could in the kitchen of this mansion.
“Why is she so skinny?”
Ruth Buck, the Baron’s chef, frowned upon seeing Leticia.
“I’m sorry.”
“Beth, how can you make a skinny girl do kitchen work? Emily, take out the leftover apple pie from lunch.”
Emily, a kitchen maid who looked about the same age as Leticia, quickly took an apple pie out of the cupboard.
Leticia’s eyes widened. So far, she has eaten only two types of bread, black bread, and white straw bread.
Naturally, in her previous life, she ate a variety of delicious bread, but it has nothing to do with her now.
Even though it was cold, my mouth was watering because of the sweet smell that was faintly emitted.
“You’re drooling. Come on, sit.”
Leticia sat down at the huge table in the corner of the kitchen with a puzzled expression on her face.
‘Since I’m too skinny, are you trying to drive me out by telling me to clean up after I’m full?’
Leticia took a bite of a large apple pie that Ruth cut herself.
‘……!’
Along with the crunchy pie and apples that were sweet and soft enough to melt and danced on her tongue.
“I, I’ve never had such delicious food before.”
“Of course you never had.”
Ruth looked very proud.
“Originally, it was a food that could only be eaten by being a maid.”
“Is it okay for me to eat?”
“If you can’t eat this, who would work in the kitchen?”
Ruth looked pitifully at Leticia, who ate the pie in a hurry, and gave her a glass of cold milk.”
“Eat slowly. There’s more.”
