I Became the Ultimate Boss - Chapter 52
Chapter 52: A Straightforward Test
After Chen Momo got downstairs, Ke Meng took out his tiny notebook and jotted the new knowledge he obtained.
The first one would be the Special Affairs Investigation Bureau. It was the country’s mysterious authority. There were many mysterious items inside.
“Classification Level 0 items!”
“Class A members?”
The bureau’s classification level restriction was its core confidential measure. The leak of special items’ information seemed to create disasters.
That reminded Ke Meng of the dream he had released casually, which spread to over 100,000 people within a few days. It was the classic disaster of a special intel leak.
Danger would be easily imposed if it was not controlled. He nodded slightly as he thought to this point. He understood the investigation bureau’s confidentiality measures.
Perhaps some Classification Level 0 items could bring catastrophes that were similar to the nightmare condition.
As layers of information were blocked, the first group of people who would be impacted would be the staff with high authorization.
If it was a catastrophe that was similar to the nightmare condition, the staff with high authorization were the first batch of people on top. The ordinary people might be spared as they were unaware of that information.
However, ignorance could be a disaster sometimes. Just like people who were unaware of a calamity upon them, and they died innocently.
Ke Meng spun the pen in his hand. It was bad to know too much, and it was bad to know too little. It was quite a pickle.
No wonder the country did not explain the special items. It was a rather thorough thing to consider. That was the only stage that Ke Meng thought of at the moment.
So, which stage was the Special Affairs Investigation Bureau on now?
At the moment, Ke Meng only had three special items registered on the official website. However, there were three items at home that he had yet to register.
They were the honey, trident, and the anonymous strange fish.
Judging by Captain Luo’s reaction before, Ke Meng was considered to be a very lucky guy among ordinary citizens to possess three special items.
He could still get by saying that it was due to luck that he got a couple more.
However, it would no longer be anything to do with luck if he had over ten items. Special Affairs would definitely be involved.
Ke Meng thought about the treasure bowl, a story that was circulated in the Koi Continent. There were endless treasures in the treasure bowl. One could retrieve one treasure after another as there was no end to it.
He was not a treasure bowl, but Boss Ke’s ability to obtain sacrifices that came with the game world was comparable to a treasure bowl. The game items the believers sacrificed were the equivalence of the treasures in a treasure bowl.
Ke Meng had to find a reason to convince the investigation bureau. Otherwise, it would be a great trouble if he possessed too many items in the future.
However, what kind of reason should he give?
He would become Cthulhu when he slept. That was Ke Meng’s core secret. Nobody would find out about that as long as he kept quiet about it.
Everyone would only suspect why strange items were appearing in his room out of nowhere. In other words, they would suspect the room might be a special item itself. They would not suspect he was an evil god.
“Would the believers’ sacrificial items teleport to me if I sleep somewhere else?”
Ke Meng jotted that down in his notebook. He mainly considered the coordinates. He wondered whether the system bound his room as the coordinates or bound him instead.
A basic logic was required for him to come up with a reason for the authority. It would be a trouble if the reason he came up with simply was flawed.
“I’ll sleep on the third floor for the next few days until a new believer offers me a sacrifice.” Ke Meng made up his mind.
The third floor was still vacant at the moment; nobody was staying there. He happened to be able to use it for the test.
If the system bound the person, the item would naturally teleport to the third floor if he was sleeping there instead of his bedroom on the second floor that he usually stayed. He could come up with a reason for the investigation bureau in relief as long as the test succeeded once.
“Test on shadow species invading still objects.”
Ke Meng did not forget about the two ants. He proceeded to work on the test he left off last night.
Before the test, he needed to buy some still objects that could move to test whether the shadows could move in them.
He put on his face mask and got Glutinous Ball to guard the house. He put on the Immense Strength Glove and went shopping alone.
He scanned outside casually and saw a newly installed surveillance camera on a street lamp. It was pointing directly at his house’s side door. He could tell that the investigation bureau had installed it.
It was them monitoring him, the supernumerary personnel. After all, he possessed special items. It would not be safe to not monitor supernumerary personnel.
Ke Meng did not mind the surveillance camera the bureau installed on purpose. It was the strict surveillance that maintained Koi Continent’s safety much better than other continents.
Soon, he drove out. The camera turned around to capture where the car was going.
The cameras were aiming at Ke Meng’s number plate along the way. The GPS’ data would be uploaded to the bureau automatically to guarantee the supernumerary personnel was being monitored live.
Along the way, Ke Meng bought two dolls at a doll store to test the shadows.
Later on, he bought two race car toys at the toy store. It was the kind with a remote control. They would also be used for the shadows.
He went home. The two ants that were in the same basin as the big-faced cat were shaking. They looked like they were going to cry.
They felt horrible figuring that they would be tossed into still objects soon.
Both ants shook the antennae on their heads, communicating strenuously with pheromones.
“Mentor said before the shadows that entered still objects would be stuck in the shadow. The shadow won’t be able to move. Only lunatics would do that.”
“He doesn’t believe us, no matter despite us telling him that. He’s so stubborn to be insisting on the test. Damn it!”
Ke Meng had returned home no matter how much they complained. Not only that, but he also held four items in his hands.
There were two race car toys and two dolls.
Both ants were trembling while hiding in a corner. They looked at Ke Meng’s face, thinking he was evil.
He did not experiment on them first. Instead, he was testing with the bugs’ shadows.
He did an integration test in the first round.
He waved and tossed both hands. The bugs’ shadows were tossed into the two dolls’ shadows, integrating with the still objects’ shadows.
After waiting for half an hour, there was no reaction from the dolls as he was done scrolling through videos.
He asked Glutinous Ball about it. It responded that it did not see them move.
The test had failed.
The second test, a straightforward test.
Ke Meng removed their shadows, as well as the dolls’ original shadows. He tossed the bugs’ shadows back to the dolls.
At that moment, both dolls had the bugs’ shadows.
They remained still.
Both ants were terrified as they watched. They dared not even think of such a test.
If their mentor was here, he might be like them, whereby he would feel like he was going through a breakdown.
Ke Meng was scrolling through videos again. The dolls remained still when he came back to check on them half an hour later.
“Glutinous Ball, did the dolls move?” Ke Meng asked.
Compared to his eyes, his pet’s observation ability should be above his.
Glutinous Ball barked once, the dolls’ animal ears moved a little bit.
“They moved?” Ke Meng said, feeling surprised.
He turned around to work on his computer. He slowed down the video and dragged to the timestamp Glutinous Ball memorized. He played it slowly, frame by frame.
On the computer screen, both furry ears on the kemonomimi dolls with the ants’ shadows inside moved softly at the amplitude that could not be seen with naked eyes.
