Chapter 111: Chapter 111 His Second Uncle
Su Zixi’s heart skipped a beat, feeling as though she had been caught committing a misdeed.
She instinctively flashed him a smile!
“You must be Zhixi, right?” the man said with a smile as he looked at her.
Su Zixi was surprised, “You know me?”
“I see you were heading to the top floor; that’s Jingyao’s office,” he said with a smile, extending his hand towards her, “I’m He Yizheng, Jingyao’s younger uncle.”
Su Zixi’s mouth fell open in astonishment!
She knew He Jingyao had an uncle, but she never imagined that his uncle would be so young—he hardly looked much older than He Jingyao!
“Hello…” She extended her hand in a daze and shook his briefly, still somewhat in a stupor.
Her bewildered expression seemed to amuse He Yizheng, and the smile in his eyes deepened, “I just congratulated him this morning and asked when I might have the chance to meet you. I didn’t expect to run into you so soon. Jingyao is a lucky man.”
He Yizheng’s voice was incredibly magnetic, and his smiling manner gave off the illusion of being exceptionally tender and intimate.
Su Zixi couldn’t help thinking that she was fortunate to have been teased by Mr. He so often lately, which had built up her resistance; otherwise, she would have been utterly defenseless.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, she said, “Oh, it’s my good fortune, not his.”
No sooner had she finished speaking when the elevator suddenly stopped. Su Zixi, in her high heels, lost her balance for a moment. As she was about to reach for the elevator wall, He Yizheng swiftly extended his hand to steady her!
Su Zixi, as he held her by the waist in such a manner, found herself collapsing into his embrace due to her already unsteady center of gravity!
“Be careful,” He Yizheng’s voice, tinged with a trace of amusement, sounded above her head.
Su Zixi was extremely mortified!
In reality, she had only swayed a little, and even without He Yizheng’s intervention, she would not have fallen.
But since He Yizheng had acted out of kindness, she didn’t feel it was appropriate to say anything. She quickly extricated herself from his embrace and, with a flushed face, said, “I’m fine… Thank you, Uncle.”
“That’s good to hear,” He Yizheng’s voice remained gentle, “What about Jingyao? How could he let you come to the company by yourself?”
“Uh… it’s not his fault, I ran out first thing in the morning,” Su Zixi felt even more embarrassed.
“What? Did Jingyao bully you?” He Yizheng looked at her seriously, his tender gaze seemingly teasing, “After all, I am Jingyao’s uncle. If he has bullied you, you can always come to me. I will definitely see justice done for you.”
“Ah? No, no, Jingyao hasn’t bullied me,” Su Zixi smiled awkwardly and unconsciously leaned against the wall.
For some reason, He Yizheng’s overly tender and considerate demeanor made her feel uncomfortable.
He Yizheng, of course, understood her obvious defensive posture.
There was a flicker in his eyes, and his tone became somewhat self-deprecating, “I was too presumptuous. Jingyao has never had much to do with girls, so I was worried he wouldn’t know how to behave.”
Never had much to do with girls? Su Zixi’s eyes widened slightly, a hint of confusion rising in her heart.
However, even so, when He Jingyao teased her, he didn’t seem the least bit inexperienced.
Therefore, Su Zixi shook her head with a smile, “No… Jingyao is very kind to me, thank you, Uncle.”
“Glad to hear it,” He Yizheng smiled again, “This is my stop, see you later.”
“Goodbye.” Su Zixi quickly waved goodbye to him and watched as He Yizheng and the few men with him left the elevator. Only then did she breathe a sigh of relief.
