Chapter 40 Sudden Crisis (1)
Pushing open the door, the light streaming in gave the gloomy warehouse a sliver of brightness.
The flat ground was slick with blood.
In the light, everyone could see what happened inside.
Seeing this scene, An Ya and Meng Yue could not help but vomit. Even Zhang Xiaodao could not help but retch.
Chu Heng watched this scene with a livid expression. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, his eyes were filled with cold killing intent.
He took a flagon of gasoline from his space ring, opened it, and dumped it on the floor. He let the gasoline mingle with the blood and gore that covered the floor, then dropped a beating lighter.
Flames burst into the sky.
“Let’s go!”
Chu Heng said indifferently and turned to leave expressionlessly.
The few of them took a deep look at the warehouse that had already turned into a sea of flames and followed Chu Heng.
Outside, Chu Heng took out the SUV and sat in the driver’s seat. He looked at the two clowns on the gate in silence, then opened the chat channel.
After two or three days, the chat channel had become much quieter.
During the day, most people were busy searching for supplies and killing zombies to increase their attributes. They didn’t have time to chat at all. Only a small number of people who were surrounded and waiting for death or had nothing to do for the time being chatted in the channel.
The next moment, a message suddenly popped up in the chat channel.
“Bounty: Anyone who can provide accurate information about the gathering place of the Neonese can exchange for Crystal Cores with me. Once it’s confirmed, I’ll offer a Crystal Core for each Neonese in the base as a reward.”
After this message appeared, the chat channel fell into a short silence. Then, it instantly
exploded with new messages.
“I’m watching. What feud does this boss have with the Neonese? I’ve already been unhappy with them. Looks like there’s going to be a good show…”
“Is it true? What if I really give you accurate information, but you don’t give me the Crystal Cores?”
“F*ck, he talks about destroying bases. This big shot seems to be a little fierce. Big shot, do you still lack underlings?”
“We have two Neonese in the base, but most of the people here are from Dragon Country. Does that count?”
…
Looking at the surging messages, Chu Heng rubbed his swollen head and thought for a moment before replying in the channel.
“The base I mentioned has to mostly consist
of Neonese. Once the information is confirmed, I’ll kill all of them and count
them. I will pay you according to their
numbers.”
“As for whether I can afford it or not, we’ll
know after we try.”
“Also, if you dare to waste my time with fake you don’t
information, you better pray that
run into me…”
With that, Chu Heng closed the chat channel
and couldn’t help but sigh.
He was clearly not the kind of person who
would harm his own interests for others, but after seeing the people who seemed to be shouting silently in those dark warehouses, he could not help but do so in the end.
“I won’t do such a stupid thing again in the future. I’m just a nobody. Isn’t it good to use these Crystal Cores to level up? I’ll leave such things to those heroes in the future!”
The few people sitting in the back did not hear Heng’s mutterings clearly, but they saw the bounty issued by Chu Heng in the chat channel.
The three of them looked at Chu Heng with a different gaze. Zhang Xiaodao could not help
but say.
“Holy sh*t, Boss is awesome!”
Chu Heng did not respond. He opened the map and started the SUV, driving towards the nearest gas station according to the map.
In the apocalypse, gasoline was an important strategic resource. All vehicles could not be separated from it. Moreover, it could be used
as a weapon. It was a hard currency. Looking at the different scenery along the way, Meng Yue could not help but ask in
confusion.
“Brother Chu Heng, this doesn’t seem to be the way back, right?”
“Well, I’ll get some gas from the gas station. Most people haven’t realized the importance of these resources yet. Get more while we
can!” Chu Heng explained without looking back.
As he became familiar with the few of them,
coupled with the fact that they had already become teammates, Chu Heng gradually became more talkative. If it was when they
first met, he would not have bothered to explain. Zhang Xiaodao nodded thoughtfully. Suddenly, he seemed to have thought of
something.
“Boss, do you think it’s necessary for us to go
to one of those police stations or barracks or whatever and take the weapons inside first?” Chu Heng was stunned when he heard his
words.
He had indeed thought about this question in the beginning, but a lot of things had happened recently. If not for Zhang Xiaodao’s reminder, he probably wouldn’t have remembered it for a while.
“I almost forgot about that. Open the map
and look around. We’ll go to the gas station
first. If it’s close, we’ll check it out later.”
“Sure!”
The black SUV drove quickly on the road. Its violent trajectory was like streams of light under the sunlight. The noise of the car attracted the attention of the zombies on both sides of the road. Unfortunately, they could
not catch up at all. They could only roar softly and turn their targets elsewhere. After driving for a while more, Chu Heng finally stopped the car about a kilometer away from the gas station.
The road ahead was crowded with the remains
of countless vehicles, all the way forward for a couple of hundred yards. There was no way
the cars could get in.
Chu Heng sighed and turned to Zhang Xiaodao and Meng Yue.
“The front is blocked. Get out and walk. Take
out your weapons. Be careful.” Meng Yue was the last to get out of the car.
Chu Heng put the car away after she got out. At this moment, the zombies nearby, attracted by the roar of the car just now, also came close.
“Same old. I’ll walk in front, An Ya, you’ll be in charge of the right. Meng Yue, you’ll be in
charge of the left. The back will belong to Xiaodao!” Chu Heng looked at them and asked, “Is that okay?”
The three nodded that there was no question.
Chu Heng strode forward and swung his long saber left and right, easily clearing the zombies that were rushing over. The others
quickly entered their roles and took charge of their respective directions.
After the battle at the factory, their attributes
had improved again, especially An Ya. She was getting closer and closer to her own requirements for awakening. Chu Heng was also looking forward to her
awakening. Ever since he awakened, he had not encountered a single Awakened, so his ‘Mimicry’ ability had never been used. He was prepared to wait for An Ya to awaken
and then give her the seed of the ‘Vibration’ superpower in his pocket.
Chu Heng had been yearning for this superpower for a long time.
As for Meng Yue and Zhang Xiaodao, he also had plans for them in his heart.
Zhang Xiaodao was focused on speed and his preference was short-handed weapons. It was most suitable to nurture him into an assassin.
As for Meng Yue…
Speaking of Meng Yue, Chu Heng could not help but have a headache.
He did not know what was wrong with this
girl. She advocated violence and added points mainly to Strength.
Considering her main attribute, she could use the seed that contained the supernatural power of ‘Superhuman-Giant Strength’. However, although Giant Strength was not
bad, its flaws were also very obvious. It was vulnerable to those who were fast. Therefore, Chu Heng was prepared to wait
and see if he could find a better one for her to
use.
The four of them advanced slowly until they reached the pile of abandoned cars. A few hundred meters farther on was the scene of the accident.
At that moment, a rustling sound suddenly
came from the man-sized grass to the right of the road.
At the same time, alarm bells rang in Chu heart. A sense of danger that he had never felt before swept through his entire
Heng’s
body.
