Chapter 35: Ancient Civilization—Atlantis!
Before entering the tomb, Feissel’s team had only known that Ian was a mere author.
They had participated in this operation simply because they had some knowledge of ancient Egypt.
They hadn’t wanted to bring him along because archaeology was a high-value and high-tech affair in their eyes.
You’re an amateur, and you’re only here to mess things up.
He hadn’t done much to impress them before.
They didn’t even think he was right.
After what happened, they couldn’t not take Ian’s words seriously anymore. They couldn’t ignore his opinion anymore.
The pyramid was more dangerous than any mausoleum they had ever been to.
They would have all been annihilated at a small ramp without a sufficiently experienced person to bring them along.
“But what should we do next?” Professor Feissel asked Ian directly.
Everyone looked at Ian in unison.
Ian’s words were the authority in this tomb chamber.
Ian did not hide it. After all, he also wanted to go in as soon as possible to get the reward from the underground palace of the pyramid.
If too many people died before he got the reward, it was very likely that the excavation trip would be canceled.
This was something that Ian did not want to see.
After he got the reward, the lives of these people would have nothing to do with him.
He walked a few steps forward like a ramp, pretending to look around at the mechanisms.
“The mechanisms here are actually the same as the earlier mechanisms. As long as we find the corresponding switches, we can solve it.”
Everyone’s eyes immediately lit up with joy.
If Ian’s words were correct, it would mean that this ramp was not impossible to crack.
They just looked at the huge axes that were emitting air-piercing sounds.
Their eyes revealed worry.
Could these things really stop?
If it were the stone statues, they could still use drones to test them. Now, these underground mechanisms could only be tested with their flesh and blood.
This undoubtedly increased their psychological pressure.
They placed all their hopes on the man standing in front of the ramp.
This time, even the soldier did not dare to speak recklessly.
If Ian did not want to continue, the entire excavation process would come to a stop.
His mission would also fail.
Until the last moment, he decided not to use force and threaten Ian.
Ian ignored them and walked towards the ramp.
Seeing Ian walk into the ramp, everyone was shocked.
Aika revealed a distressed expression and shouted for Ian to step back and not take the risk!
However, Ian did not stop. Instead, he said to Aika without turning his head, “Don’t worry, I am not treating my life as a joke. I’m just going to confirm the situation ahead.”
Ian’s brain had a complete blueprint of the layout. Naturally, he knew that there was a trap in this place.
The stone he had just thrown was to activate a sensory trap.
What was a sensory trap?
It required gravity to activate the trap.
It could be a human body or a heavy object.
There were other inductive traps.
For example, if a transparent silk thread was set up, poisonous arrows would be shot from all directions if it was not carefully broken.
Ian walked past an inductive trap, but he did not set off.
After thousands of years, the inductive trap had already lost its effectiveness.
Ian did not panic at all.
Everyone’s hearts tightened as he walked toward the ramp. They were afraid that he would be in danger. After all, these terrifying attacks had left too many psychological scars on them.
Ian walked step by step to the front of the axe. It landed in front of him at full impact speed.
In theory, if one’s body coordination was good enough, one could move back and forth between the gaps of these huge axes.
But theory was only theory.
No one could move back and forth between the axes at such a speed, not even Ian.
Seeing that this method didn’t work, Ian walked back and looked at the reliefs on the walls around the ramp.
The reliefs were engraved with the history of the ancient Egyptian civilization.
Looking at the reliefs, he could feel the dominance of the ancient Egyptian empire.
These reliefs depicted numerous images of the ancient Egyptian empire conquering the world, and one of them reached the southernmost part of the world.
Ian stopped and admired the reliefs in front of him, his eyes filled with amazement.
However, while he was admiring them, the people outside were a little anxious.
“What are you looking at? Do you have any idea?”
“If you can’t crack it, then turn back. We haven’t even entered yet, and we’ve already encountered so many dangers. Won’t it be even more dangerous after we enter?”
“Let’s see, what’s there to see? You’re not an archaeologist. There’s no use even if you look.”
Although Ian had indirectly saved them, they still showed arrogance when it came to their own profession.
Aika did not think so. She felt that Ian must be thinking of a solution.
At that moment, she also walked into the ramp. There was no fear in her eyes.
“Ian, what are you looking at?”
Just as Ian was staring at the relief sculpture on the wall, Aika had already followed him.
His back view made Aika very curious.
Her eyes followed Ian’s gaze. It was as if her entire body had been struck by lightning.
“This is…”
She was somewhat shocked by the relief murals in the tunnel, repeatedly exclaiming, “These are all precious historical materials! This is the first time we have found historical evidence of the ancient Egyptian civilization!
“The contents of these reliefs and murals should be scenes from the ancient battlefield thousands of years ago!
“But there are some strange things on it, such as half-man, half-eagle, half-man, half-lion, half-man, half-snake…”
If the murals depicted the war thousands of years ago…
Then what were these monsters?
What kind of enemy could withstand such an army?
As Aika continued looking, her eyes widened in shock because she discovered that the army on the other side also had strange creatures!
There were giants wielding tridents and creatures covered in fish scale armor.
There were monsters wielding spears and claws.
“This is not scientific!” Aika exclaimed. This did not match her knowledge of human history!
Ian looked at the relief sculpture and said calmly, “These are the guardians of ancient Egypt. They are fighting against a country called Atlantis.”
“Guardians? Atlantis?”
What was all this!? Why were there other things involved in the ruins of ancient Egypt!?
“Did you write about Atlantis in your novel?”
Aika suddenly came to a realization. The writer next to her was the best-selling author of Egyptian Chronicles.
“Would you believe me if I said that what I wrote was true?”
Ian turned to look Aika in the eye.
