My father also appeared in the original story briefly. His role is to help Adele.
However, even though he’s good-looking, once he heard someone call him ‘pretty’, he becomes really angry.
Well, he’s my father now, but he’s a little scary.
After the harmonious dinner time, the duke satisfactorily laid down his glass of wine.
“Adele, take care of Anastasia well.”
“Yes, Father.”
“Good-bye.”
I bowed to the duke and left the mansion. Adele rode with me in the carriage.
There was an uncomfortable silence as the carriage galloped through the empty streets. I crossed my legs and rested my arm on it. Looking out the window with drowsy eyes, Adele suddenly opened his mouth.
“Anastacia.”
“Hmm?”
I looked up. Even in the shaded space, Adele’s red flower-like eyes had the power to make my heart flutter.
His golden hair, which seemed to spread if I run my fingers through it, was slightly disturbed and covered his forehead, which gave it a sexy and sensational feeling.
It was a very strange thing. No one else is as ascetic as Adele. Are my eyes getting weird? Am I too immoral?
“I was happy to meet Anastasia today. Actually, I missed you a lot.”
A pleasing voice tickled my ears. I smiled unconsciously.
Right? Are you also having fun playing with me? Even if I sometimes, look at you with my eyes filled with self-interest, please forgive me with a broad heart.
“Anastasia, you are the only one who did not wish me goodwill.”
His voice sounded like a calm ripple. I looked at Adele like I was possessed.
“I was taught not to take for granted, to give, to sacrifice, and to be kind. My father told me that if I had good faith, people would be in favor of me. But Anastasia hated to behave and talk like that, didn’t you? I was confused because I didn’t know what I did wrong. I didn’t learn how to deal with this, so I was so embarrassed that I turned a blind eye to your opinion.”
Adele said carefully.
I straightened my posture. The duke was a strict father.
Fearing that he would grow up to be the worst human being, he suppressed all of Adele’s desires from early on. He taught him how to yield, care, and sacrifice.
But can you say it wasn’t a cruel choice?
There must have been something Adele wanted to have, something he wanted to do, anything.
The feelings that even he didn’t realize was piled up inside.
I am not Adele’s parents, and I did not intend to jump to conclusions.
But if I don’t side with Adele, who would comfort him?
“I know the Duke taught you like that. But what about Adele? What do you think? Do you enjoy helping people and letting yourself go second?”
Adele answered my question without hesitation.
“That might have been the case before, or I might have mistaken it for it.”
“What about now?”
“It’s not very pleasant. “
I nodded.
“You don’t have to do things you don’t want to. What’s the point in doing good things? You already have accumulated so much merit, and even if you reduced ten good deeds to two, they won’t even notice it anyway.”
Adele stared at me. His red eyes glistened.
“Is that okay? Even if I don’t?”
“Of course the Duke means well. But I’m on your side! I hope you don’t get caught up in the role of a nice person. Sometimes I feel sorry for you. I’m worried, and I’m really concerned.”
Adele seemed to think for a moment, then he smiled.
“Thank you for thinking of me, Anastasia.”
I smiled after Adele.
“Take a break from good things, and have fun with me. Will you come to my house tomorrow?”
“Yes.”
Adele said softly.
The next day, Adele came while I was changing my dress after lunch. He greeted me with a still radiant face as I checked my dress.
Ugh! My heart!
“Hello. Did you sleep well last night?”
“Yes. You’re early. “
Adele was accompanied by a small unknown object in a box.
“My father asked me to give you medicine. He told me to make sure you take it.”
“What kind of medicine is it? “
I asked curiously. Adele unwrapped the cloth with an expressive face. Then a golden cup appeared.
“Here you go.”
Adele carefully opened the lid to show me what was inside.
The brilliant gold cup was filled with black liquid.
At first glance, it seemed like ordinary medicine, but when I looked closely, it’s as if something was moving, a soft, square mass floated around.
“T-there’s some stuff?”
I stammered in bewilderment. Adele just smiled.
“Don’t leave any leftovers.”
“Can’t I just accept your heart*?”
(t/n: his goodwill meaning she’ll accept it but she won’t drink it lols)
“Do you want me to feed you?”
His impression was distorted.
“How can I take this? I’ve never even heard or seen any medicine like this before!”
“You did, just now.”
Adele answered back naively. It still felt like I’m talking to a wall!
I complained with a hateful look.
“Tell me what ingredients this is made of.”
“It’s better if you don’t know.”
I was at a loss for words.
“If you say it like that, I’ll really think this is a poison… “
I looked down hopelessly at the medicine. Dark greenish lumps were swimming in the gold cup.
The texture must have been terrible. It doesn’t even look like something a human could eat at first glance.
Adele opened his mouth to see if I was hesitating because of a different reason.
“Would you like a spoon?”
Just imagining drinking this is already making me want to puke.
“Urp, I feel sick already.”
“I heard it works very well. You won’t regret it.”
Of course, the Duke didn’t prepare this to pick on me, but…
I appealed in a tearful voice.
“Do I really have to drink it?’
“You must drink it.”
Adele just didn’t let it go.
Damn it.
I swallowed my saliva and grabbed the gold cup. Yeah, it works well, so let’s sacrifice my tongue for the sake of my body only once.
But if you think about it, isn’t my tongue also a part of my body? Even if I get better after drinking this, my taste will disappear, so isn’t this the end of my life?!
I turned to Adele with shaky eyes. However, no matter how pitiful I look, the pretty boy, who has golden hair and now looks like an enemy, didn’t even bat an eye.
Come on, I couldn’t persuade that iron fortress at all costs.
Eventually, I sighed with resignation and took a lot of medicine.
I swallowed everything without chewing. I really wanted to die when I felt it sliding over my neck. It was fortunate that there was not much.
I put down the gold cup as if I were throwing it.
“Ugh.”
I gave up managing my facial expressions. After all, I thought Adele already saw my nausea as cute because I had vomited blood in front of him already. He encouraged me, affectionately.
“Good job Anastasia.”
I grumbled inwardly. Adele put the gold cup back in the box.
“You’ll be alright soon.”
When I put the ganache chocolate he handed it over to my mouth and squirmed, he seemed a little bit distracted. Only then I looked at Adele.
Adele was wearing a fine glossy navy blue jacket. It looked navy blue in the sun and black in the shade.
An oval sapphire brooch was attached to the chest, and all the other ornaments on the jacket were gold.
The white shirt he wore inside was really neat because the buttons were locked all the way up to his neck.
I looked at my dress, which had a dark purple base color with a navy accent, and said at a glance.
“We’re just like a couple.”
“Yes?”
“My dress and your jacket have similar colors.”
“You’re right.”
Adele answered in a light tone. I became a little grumpy.
“What, what’s with that reaction? You’re not interested in looking like a couple with me, are you?”
“I’ve heard that a lot lately.”
“….huh?”
I paused for a moment. I saw a faint smile on his lips.
“Everyone asked me if Anastasia and I were dating.”
My social life was limited, so I sometimes forgot how famous Adele was. Adele’s every move was of great interest to other aristocrats.
I was inwardly nervous.
“So what did you say?”
Adele had a playful look on his face.
“Are you curious?”
“Of course!”
“Then I’ll keep it a secret.”
(t/n: AH! JUST GET MARRIED YOU TWO!)
I was shot.
“How mean…. “
I didn’t expect that Adele would play a joke on me. Adele stood up regardless of my glare at him. Then he reached out his hand to me.
“I heard it’s going to rain a lot tonight. Wouldn’t it be better now to go outside?”
Now there was no reason not to join hands with Adele.
I put my hand in his hand.
“Let’s go eat parfait.”
“Yes.”
“I’ll have all kinds.”
“I’m glad you’re feeling better,”
I squinted at Adele’s words. Somehow I was suddenly hungry enough to eat up the parfait.
Whenever Irina touched my forehead, she was always worried because I’m cold, but now, I feel warm all over.
I think I could even run lightly if I try.
“The medicine seems to be working…. “
As soon as I mumbled, Adele spoke.
“It’s because I put in a lot of stuff.”
What the hell…
No, let’s not ask.
Sometimes it’s better not to know.
I tried to swallow my tears.
We walked leisurely out of the count’s estate. As time went by, it was unusual for the mind to become clearer and stronger. Is it because of the black liquid or is it something else? Um, uh.
Even though I decided not to think, I kept getting questions.
I wiggled my hand against Adele and turned my eyes around.
Wah, it feels so good. His hand is white, smooth, and soft. As soon as I was about to forget about medicine, suddenly Adele lowered his head and murmured in a low voice.
“Anastasia, someone has been following us for a while.”
I moved my eyes along Adele’s gaze. A boy a couple of years younger than me was peeping at us from behind the wall. It was the one who threw a stone at me.
“He’s here again.”
Isn’t he too hopeless at this point? There are times when I think he’s too young. I thought I’d have to call a guard to kick him out.
I sighed a little.
“Maybe he’s following me. I met him yesterday.”
Adele didn’t stop asking questions.
“Are you sure? I know who he is. I’ve helped him several times, and we met him at the Sky Lantern Festival, so if he’s following me, then he has nothing to do with Anastasia, right?”
“He probably thought that I seduced you. That’s why he thought I’m the reason why you’re not helping them anymore.”
I explained moderately. Adele’s face stiffened.
