- Chapter 49 - I Didn’t Save You To Get Proposed To Chapter 49
When one friend’s love is fulfilled, the love of the other is shattered. Of course, she thought Elsia was more important, but she felt sorry for Ridan, who was holding it all together by himself.
“But I don’t know when Elsia will come up to the capital.”
Looking at Ridan’s still face, Irene replied blankly.
“To be honest, I thought she would come right up to the capital when the Prince proposed to her. But even after so much time has passed, there has been no news—”
Whenever Elsia sent a letter, she now consciously avoided or glossed over the on-related topics. Irene murmured, recalling the last time she saw her face.
“Last time, I contacted her with thr magic mirror from the tower. She was almost surprised when she talked about the prince. The situation was different from what I expected in many ways.”
People were whispering about why there was no news of marriage in the capital. Since Ixion was staying in Evgeny continuously, there were also careful claims that Elsia was dragging her feet. But Elsia, as Irene knows, was never the one to drag on.
“In addition—” Irene sighed as she looked at Ridan, who was quietly silent. “One of the top employees who went to the South for the clothing business said something strange.”
“Strange words?”
“There’s a rumor going around in Marquis Evgeny that— Elsia may be a saint.”
Ridan’s expression, which had been keeping calm, changed in an instant. He jumped up and asked.
“Saint? Are you sure?”
“I don’t know.”
“There will be no such rumor for no reason. She’s even from Artise.”
Irene shrugged her shoulders. She didn’t even try to find out any more because she didn’t have to argue about accuracy in rumors like those that didn’t make money.
“I’ll have to write a letter right now.”
“—What?”
“Of course I want to meet her. I have to ask what’s going on.”
Irene blinked quietly at Ridan’s unusual expression.
“I’m the best scholar in this field.”
It was theology that Ridan had been into since he was very young. It has always been his job to stay in the Duke’s study and concentrate on theology. God was gone, and there was little interest in theology in the world. However, no one said anything about Ridan’s pure passion, as he was learning.
He had money, status, and no worries about making a living, no one bothered to stop him from pursuing his unique hobby.
“With permission, I will also go to the Marquis of Evgeny.”
“Ah, right.” Irene said blankly. “Come to think of it, Elsia doesn’t know you’re studying theology. We never talked about it.”
Ridan didn’t talk about theology because it was a subject that was largely out of people’s interest. Irene didn’t know anything, either, so she didn’t bring it up.
“But— is it okay if you meet Elsia with that kind of heart? She’ll probably be with the Prince.”
“But maybe Elsia needs me.”
Ridan said firmly, as if he had something to point out.

“I’ve seen it after lunch, but I’ve been given an Imperial Order. I must enter the Palace immediately. All the Knights are also summoned.”
“Ah—. I heard from Sir Aiden a little while ago.”
I was also going to ask you to help me enter the Imperial Palace Library. I asked cautiously, pulling up the robe that was draped over shoulders.
“Is there something wrong?”
“I have a few guesses, but I’ll have to see what’s accurate.”
“Well, I guess so.”
I didn’t ask either because I was very interested anyway, so I just let it go lightly. I was going to talk about the Imperial Palace Library, but he continued.
“I know you’re still comparing Niel and me.”
“It’s a bit of an expression. It’s not even the comparison, but the degree of concern—”
“No matter how good Niel is in that area, I don’t think it’s enough to believe and follow everything he says. If the one I saw.”
“Yes.”
Niel said that no one had the divine power to purify me. But I had already decided not to just believe that and wait for death. I nodded with a determined look.
“No matter how good a wizard Niel is, he doesn’t know anything about it. Especially, there are very few people who know about black magic or divine magic.”
“—Huh?”
Ixion looked a little curious. I confidently looked him in the eye and continued.
“So, if you’re going up to the Capital, can I follow you?”
“…..”
“I think I have something to look into for myself. Could you help me enter the Imperial Palace Library? I know that there are places where access is restricted except for the Imperial people—”
Ixion’s pupils shook slightly at my words.
‘Do you not like it? Are you saying that the restricted reading room is not allowed?’
I held his arm desperately.
“Really, I will only look for books related to divine power. If you’re doubt it, you can keep an eye on me. Can you help me?”
“No, Elsia. Of course, I can help you. It’s not surveillance, but if you want, we can find anything together.”
He said quickly, embarrassed, as I almost clung to him. Oh, I heard the answer is yes. I smiled happily.
‘Ixion is not going to say it’s invalid later because of his personality.’
Achieving my goal, I smiled leisurely and made eye contact with him.
“Thank you. You promised.” Perhaps because of the mood, his ears seemed to be burning with excitement. “But I’m very cold, but I guess Prince must be hot.”
“It’s not that, you’re too close right now—.”
“Ah. I’m sorry.”
Suddenly embarrassed, I let go of his arm and stepped back a few steps.
“No, it’s not like that—”
“But what do you have to say? You said you had something to say.”
“That’s right.”
He smiled softly. I stared at his face in a daze for a moment. It was a smile that seemed like it would make my soul fall out of my mind so much that I wondered what to do if I suddenly brightened my eyes like this.
“I have to say what I have to say.”
“O-of course.”
“Even if it’s already been achieved.”
“About what?”
I looked at his blue eyes coming close again as if possessed.

Being alone in such a beautiful place with Elsia, Ixion seemed to be losing his mind. In addition, whatever her purpose was, she said she would follow him up to the Capital.
Tonight, he had been waiting for her more impatiently than ever, as soon as he saw Elsia appearing in front of him, his heart raced with emotion.
‘Just look at Lady’s face and say what you want to say now.’
What he wants to say to Elsia now was not beautiful and wonderful words prepared to suit her taste for a good speaker.
“Yes, go ahead.”
Elsia was buried in his big clothes, nodding her head nonchalantly.
Ixion looked at her and said,
“I love you.”
******
I was dazed as if I had been hit on the head. I couldn’t say anything looking at the man standing in front of me like a picture. He sighed once when I didn’t answer anything.
“—Of course, I know it’s sudden. I won’t ask you to answer right away.”
“P-prince— I—”
“It wasn’t what I meant to say originally— but now that I see your face, I just don’t know anything else.”
My mind was in a mess. He slowly continued, looking at me puzzled.
“At first, it was just a reward for saving me.”
His low voice sank in her ears.
“And next, it was because I was worried about bad rumors about you with a b*stard like Niel.”
“—Yes?”
‘What is this?’
“I think you’ve already noticed, but it doesn’t matter now.”
I was already out of my mind when he said ‘I love you’, but the words that followed were more shocking.
‘What do I notice, what’s the bad rumors with Niel?’
Suddenly, the subtle conversations of the past were playing in my head.
“I don’t want to be away from you even for a moment. So I wanted to ask you to come with me to the capital.”
‘Wait, something is wrong.’
“I heard that Niel always takes a woman he’s interested in to the tower to show off his abilities.”
I opened my mouth blankly. It was to point out the beginning of this strange misunderstanding.
‘Is that what you meant when you said you were comparing yourself with Niel earlier?’
“In that case, the capital is my territory. Give me a chance, too.”
“Huh—”
‘So what’s this situation?’
The petals and candles were cluttered in view. I blinked in confusion.
‘Since when have we been having a different conversation?’
My mouth opened.
‘Elsia, don’t you think our conversation is a little off—?’
‘Yes? About what?’
‘I don’t know where it starts— but I think we should talk about it carefully.’
Come to think of it, Ixion seemed to have already vaguely noticed that there was some misunderstanding between us.
“Capital— We’ll go to the Capital. Of course, together.”
It was an issue that had already been decided. When I answered, it seemed like Ixion was muttering something into his arm.
Whatever the signal was, fireworks exploded on the roof of the Marquis house along with the sound. The fireworks that embroidered the night sky were stunningly beautiful.
I was looking at the night sky with my soul laid down, and the knights rushed in with the sound of “Waaah” and started playing the terrible song again.
It was a really hectic evening.
‘I love you.’
But in the meantime, Ixion’s clear words never left my mind.
******
“Hey, what are you talking about!”
The next day, Niel screamed with an unusually excited voice when I said I was getting ready to go to the capital.
“Capital? You said Capital? Are you out of your mind?”
I answered blankly. “I certainly don’t think so now.” It’s because what Ixion said last night kept ringing in my ears.
It was ridiculous to think of Niel as his opponent, and the misunderstandings that had been accumulating due to him were endless. Then there was a good chance he didn’t really know about my monster transformation.
If he knew I was about to become a monster, he couldn’t say love so sincerely.
