I Failed to Divorce My Husband - Chapter 4
– Chapter 4 –
Even when Whitney was completely out of sight, Aiden was still shaking.
Though he was the heir to the Leinster family and had great power, the brainwashing he had received from a young age had taken a toll on him, weakening him.
Erin didn’t turn her head around until she took Aiden to his room without touching him as much as she could.
When they got to his room, Erin could understand a lot of things by seeing the interaction between Aiden and his nanny, Whitney.
Now that she thought about it, there was something she noticed when she first became Erin Zahad.
The way people think in this world, that Erin was in right now, was different to modern day common sense.
Here, the culture of marrying at an early age for family interests was a happy occasion for the adults around them.
It was the type of environment where you had no choice but to accept what was given to you, even if it was bad.
And in that environment, there was Aiden who was still weak.
The first day they met, Aiden was suffering in his sleep, the way he avoided Erin when he first saw her, and Whitney’s appearance.
All of this led to one direction.
The reason Erin started chasing after Aiden in the original novel was because she liked him.
But Aiden avoided her to an extraordinary degree and acted as if he was seeing an enemy that could never be reconciled.
Erin was not the only one.
Aiden responded to all girls around him with disgust, sometimes loathing, until he met the female lead, Yulia.
Now that she understood everything, Erin’s conviction became stronger.
It wasn’t just a simple reaction that could be explained because of Erin’s one-sided crush.
There was a problem in the original novel that didn’t get explained.
It was Whitney, the nanny who was in charge of Aiden’s childhood.
She didn’t care about Aiden, but abused her position as his nanny to use and control him to her own liking.
So that he would only listen and obey her.
And for this to happen, Aiden had to be isolated from others, so that no one would intervene with her plans.
As a result of her abuse, Aiden rejected other people, but there was one exception to her plan.
‘That was Erin, who had no knowledge about this, and would chase after him.’
And as a result, Erin’s behaviour had a negative impact on Aiden, worsening his trauma.
That was until he met Yulia, and everything became better thanks to her.
So of course, that must be fate.
For Aiden, Yulia’s presence would have been a refreshing one, like a ray of light that fell upon his hell-like-world.
“But it’s so pitiful for him to suffer until then.’
If they are destined to be together, then it won’t matter if I change something.
Erin wanted to help Aiden overcome his trauma.
That way, when he meets Yulia later, he will feel grateful to Erin.
So, please take care of me until we divorce.
Well, even if he didn’t take care of her, Erin, who grew up with a modern Korean thinking, felt a sense of responsibility as an adult to save Aiden.
‘First of all, you have to be able go look at my face, right’
Aiden needs to be able to look at my face, so we can have conversations and do things.
Erin headed to Aiden when she heard that Aiden was inside his room for more than half a day.
“Hello.”
As soon as Erin said hello, Aiden froze.
The reaction was as if he didn’t know she would come this far.
Erin thought Aiden was going to say something since he slightly opened his mouth, but he kept shut.
I mean, I don’t want to deal with that.
Erin smiled brightly at Aiden.
The moment Erin tried to take a step, Aiden flinched, and Erin stopped before she reached where Aiden was.
She then turned and looked at the knights around her.
“What brings you here, Young Miss?”
Philip asked half-curious and half-welcoming. The eyes of other knights were shining
Everyone cared about Aiden, and naturally became interested is his wife, Erin.
“I’m going around the residence because I want to see everyone and say hello. This is the place where I will be living in from now
On.”
“Then did you come to see us?”
“Yes!”
When Erin nodded her head, the knight’s eyes and lips trembled with emotion.
Among them, Philip bent down on one knee at Erin’s eye level and raised his hand to his left chest.
“This is… an honour for us.”
Erin smiled brightly at Philip’s polite attitude and actions.
Before she knew it, Erin was sitting down and chatting with the knights.
With her back towards Aiden, Erin focused on talking with the knights.
She pretended not to know about Aiden’s bewildered gaze on her, as he looked from a distance.
In the middle of the conversation, a knight lowered down to whisper in a small voice.
“Our Young Master is a little bit feisty.”
Everyone cared about Aiden, who was standing there not saying a word, as if he wasn’t there.
“Yes. Very feisty.”
Erin mimicked the knight’s behavior and whispered as if she was talking about a secret.
All the knights burst into laughter at her words.
At the same time, Aiden’s eyebrows furrowed from afar.
“He’s the type of person that usually doesn’t talk much.”
That’s how Aiden was. They were telling me this so that I wouldn’t be upset if he ignored me.
Erin’s eyes widened hearing the knight’s words. She bent down.
This action caught the knight’s attention. They all bent down too.
“This is a secret…”.
She thought she heard a gulping sound somewhere.
Erin lowered her voice so low that Aiden couldn’t hear her.
“But I can forgive him since he’s so handsome.”
The knight’s eyes went wide with surprise.
They couldn’t say anything and could only glance at Aiden, who was a distance away, then look back at Erin.
“He’s really handsome.”
Erin once again said seriously.
No matter how much she knew about Aiden’s past, it couldn’t be used to justify his actions and everything.
But her sympathy coupled with Aiden’s handsomeness, could easily make her forgive him.
“I was really surprised when I first saw him.”
Erin whispered seriously.
“……”
This unexpected response from Erin made the knights speechless.
“…Well, that’s true.”
Philip nodded with his arms crossed, breaking everyone’s silence.
Only then did the other knights react. Some of them even burst into laughter.
“…What?”
Before everyone realized, Aiden was standing right behind them while twitching one eye
His eyes were on Philip.
Suddenly the atmosphere became strange and quiet, no one could stand it.
Aiden’s sudden appearance made both Erin and the knights freeze.
Erin was worried he heard what she had just said, causing her heart to pound.
Erin thought she could avoid trouble even if Aiden had heard her saying that he was handsome out of nowhere.
The knights stood up one by one, then waving their hands.
“It’s not a big deal.”
“Yes, it’s really nothing.”
“By the way, Young Master seems to have married really well. I’m envious.”
The knights smiled at both Erin and Aiden.
“…What are you talking about?”
Aiden’s face became even stranger.
In the end, he turned towards Erin, because he thought he wouldn’t hear the truth from the knight’s.
Erin decided to go back in and took a step forward to return.
“Young Master.”
A familiar voice made Erin’s eyes open wide.
“……”
At the same time, Aiden’s body and face stiffened.
Erin looked at Whitney and Aiden with hawk eyes.
This was it.
This was exactly why she’s been around Aiden for the entire day.
Whitney approached Aiden.
Erin was near Aiden, but she’s not too close to him.
There was a reason she hung out with the knight’s while maintaining a certain distance.
“Young Master, you need to go do the homework you left behind.”
“…Alright.”
Whitney, who was coming, said this to Aiden after she moderately greeted Erin.
Aiden seemed to have lost his soul and voice.
Suddenly, the knights were all standing back. Like it’s already natural.
Erin’s eyes grew sharper.
“Let’s go now.”
Whitney’s words and actions were polite, but there was silent pressure in them, as if she was ordering him.
After watching the scene for a while, Erin stepped in between the two.
“Aiden was talking to me.”
Erin, who was about to run away, turned to talk to Whitney after hearing what she had said.
“Young Miss.”
Whitney’s eyes, which changed in an instant, were terrifying
“Even if you are Aiden’s wife, you can’t interrupt his schedule.”
Whitney warned threateningly.
What she meant to say was, children who knew nothing should stay in their place.
But Erin wasn’ scared by the threat.
“Then he can go after the conversation ends, right?”
“You can have a conversation after Aiden finished his schedule.”
“Young Master, let’s go.”
Whitney urged Aiden. Aiden helplessly tried to follow her.
“Whitney.”
Erin called quietly but firmly. Whitney still had a straight face.
“First, put your hand away.”
“… Pardon?”
Her expressionless face cracked for the first time.
“Get your hand off him and take a step back.”
Erin said again, still staring sharply at Whitney’s hand.
“Young Miss, why all of a sudden…?”
Erin strode forward and pushed Whitney aside.
Erin wasn’t strong enough to normally push an adult woman, but because Whitney was dazed and defenseless, she was easily pushed.
“Young Miss….?!”
Whitney stared at Erin, and couldn’t hide her expression because of the absurdity.
“I’ll go with you, since I have something to
say.”
“Young Miss, if you keep doing this… I have no choice but to report to the Duke.”
Erin could feel Aiden flinched at Whitney’s warning
“Then go report it.”
Erin said confidently.
Her response was so unexpected that Whitney and Aiden got embarrassed.
“I don’t care.”
“Young Miss, if you behave like this as soon as you come to the Leinster’s…”
Whitney tried to be stern, but Erin was faster.
“Whether I’ve been here for a day or even a year, I’m the Young Miss here. There’s no way Aiden’s nanny can stop me.”
Erin was going to walk past Whitney, and pull Aiden along by his wrist, suddenly paused.
After looking at Aiden’s arm for a moment, she decided to grab the end of Aiden’s sleeve.
“Let’s go.”
Aiden was being led like that.
