Chapter 6: Du Qing

After taking a shower, the clean Bai Yun finally sorted out her thoughts. At the moment, Bai Yun’s situation was far from ideal. Not only did she have poor professional competence, but her popularity also left much to be desired. She had even attempted to falsely create the impression that she was in a relationship with the male lead, Yuan Cong. Her reputation was terrible. Her only good friend seemed to be Ge Fei, who was proud of betraying his friends to gain connections for himself.
After wiping her hair, Bai Yun decided to turn on her phone and search online to see just how bad her reputation was.
The fully-charged phone turned on very quickly. The moment it was switched on, the ding-dong sound kept ringing, and many messages popped up. At one point, the phone froze for several seconds.
When the ringing finally stopped, Ge Fei called before Bai Yun could read the messages.
Looking at the name on the phone, Bai Yun’s lips curled up in a lazy smile.
The first step in her plan was to make sure Ge Fei got what he deserved!
If it hadn’t been for Chu Jiang’s timely appearance, neither the original Bai Yun nor her would have had a good ending.
At the thought of this, she picked up the phone. Immediately, she was greeted by a reprimanding voice, “Bai Yun, is there something wrong with your brain? Why didn’t you answer my call? Why did Chu Jiang send you to the hospital?” He spoke a lot and his voice was sharp, far different from the image of a campus senior that he had sculpted of himself on the Internet.
Bai Yun held the receiver away from her ear and asked with a smile, “Why should I answer your call? What has my relationship with Chu Jiang got to do with you?”
Ge Fei was shocked to hear the usually-docile Bai Yun contradict him.
“What are you talking about? Bai Yun, I’m just concerned about what happened to you. Do you want to come to the hospital to apologize to Director Yuan? You might even have a chance to see Yuan Cong.”
Bai Yun rolled her eyes. Only the original owner of the body would believe such nonsense. However, thinking about the later scenes, she pretended to be surprised. “Really? I can still see Yuan Cong? Then give me the address. I’ll apologize to Director Yuan tomorrow.”
With a belly full of bad ideas but no brains, Ge Fei was easy to trick. He rattled off a place name.
“Remember to come on time tomorrow. Director Yuan and I will be waiting for you.”
Bai Yun responded softly and hung up the phone to browse the information.
Among the hundreds of messages and missed calls, only her assistant, Du Qing, showed concern for her. She remembered that Du Qing was the only person in the original book who truly cared about Bai Yun.
She made the call decisively. “Du Qing, get me a bottle of wine and come to my house now. Don’t ask so many questions. We’ll go watch a show tomorrow.”
Du Qing arrived very quickly. When she rang the doorbell, Bai Yun had just finished cleaning up and was eating egg noodles.
Looking at the big villa in front of her, Du Qing was dumbfounded. “Sister Yun, I never knew you live in such an expensive place. I thought…” She swallowed her words.
After all, in the past, Bai Yun looked cowardly and gloomy, giving off the feeling that she came from unfortunate family circumstances.
But this house in the middle of town was worth a lot of money.
Could she be some rich young lady hiding her identity and entering the entertainment industry? That would be too pitiful. How did a rich young lady end up eating egg noodles?
Bai Yun frowned when she saw the woman in front of her start to tear up. She was all too familiar with this expression. Her assistant in her previous life also had this expression when she started to make things up in her mind.
She responded casually while eating her noodles. “It’s alright, I guess. Did you bring the wine I asked you to bring?”
Du Qing took out a bottle of wine from her bag and curiously asked, “Sister Yun, did you ask me to bring wine to celebrate something?”
As Bai Yun’s eyes landed on the bottle, she forced a smile. “Sort of. To celebrate someone finally waking up and seeing the true colors of others.”
She swallowed the last of the noodles, connected the computer she’d just found to the Internet, and turned it on.
Bai Yun needed to sort out the current public opinion. At the very least, she had to see clearly what her current criticisms were and what her so-called good friend Ge Fei had done on social media.
After logging into Weibo, she entered the password wrongly a few times. It even showed that she was logged in from another location. Frowning, Bai Yun muttered to herself, “Why can’t I log into Weibo?”
Looking at the Weibo interface, Du Qing scratched her head. “You handed your Weibo account over to Ge Fei to manage previously. Maybe he changed the password.”
When Bai Yun heard this, she almost fainted. The original owner of this body was really naive to have handed over her private account of the main public opinion venue in the entertainment industry. This level of naivety was both pitiful and hateful. She could only reset the password and bind the account.
The light from the screen shone on Bai Yun’s face. She couldn’t help but ask, “Why didn’t you stop her… me from handing over my account?”
