I Have A Dual World Seal - Chapter 37
Chapter 37 What a Coincidence
Lu Zheng didn’t stop as he walked along the corridor from one end of the 8th floor to the other end.
Then, he went up to the 12th floor and walked around his room.
What happened next was simple. He had to put on a full show. Lu Zheng returned home and grabbed a few changes of clothes, a phone charger, and some toiletries before returning to the hotel.
Then, he looked at the time and saw that it was already past 5 o’clock in the afternoon, so he sat on the sofa in the hotel lobby and played with his phone.
The Qi-searching talisman, which had been folded into a square, was hidden quietly in his palm, exuding a faint energy.
When the person he was waiting for did not appear, a call interrupted Lu Zheng’s game.
“Lin Wan?”
As expected… In the absence of another suspect, he was still a suspect, and the police would call at any time.
“Hello, Lu Zheng, are you home? I want to have a chat with you.”
“No, I’m at a hotel.”
“Hotel?”
“Yes.” Lu Zheng explained, “the thought of the murderer being able to sneak in makes me feel a little scared. What if he tries to silence me again? So, to be safe, I decided to stay in a hotel for a few days.”
Lin Wan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. “Is that necessary? The murderer broke into your house to frame you and divert the police’s attention.”
Lu Zheng remained unmoved. “But the only
nce we have is pointing at me. What if he tries to kill me and frame it as suicide?”
Lin Wan paused. Although she wanted to say that Lu Zheng’s worries were unfounded, after thinking about it carefully, it actually made sense.
“Which hotel? I’ll go find you!”
“Qingyu Hotel.”
Half an hour later, Lin Wan came.
It was already time to get off work, so Lin Wan wasn’t wearing a police uniform. She wore a tight-fitting short-sleeved shirt, cropped pants, and a pair of high sports shoes, which made her legs look even longer.
“What’s the matter?” “Can’t I hang out with you just for fun?”
Lu Zheng was taken aback. Lin Wan paused for a moment, then immediately teased him, “you’re a martial arts expert. Why are you afraid of him and even hiding in a hotel?”
Lu Zheng felt helpless. “Martial arts experts face their enemies head-on. If the enemy sneaks up to them in the middle of the night, no matter how skilled they are, they would still lose. How do you think Zhang Fei died?”
Lin Wan sat down beside Lu Zheng. “I’m here to ask you again. Did you see anyone when you came home after the conflict with Li Yanjie last weekend and when you went out the day before yesterday?”.
Lu Zheng thought about it carefully, but in the end, he shook his head. “No.”
“What, with today’s technology, you still can’t find the murderer?”
“Technology isn’t omnipotent.” Lin Wan said helplessly, “the person is an expert. He avoided all the cameras at the scene and didn’t leave any traces.”
“So the only evidence is the fruit knife?” Lu Zheng was speechless. “Isn’t that clearly a trap?”
“But this is also a clue.” Lin Wan explained, “since the person involved you in this, they will naturally leave clues around you.”
“Did you find it?”
“Uh… We found some traces.” Lin Wan thought that disguising as a deliveryman could also be considered a clue, right?
“Then you guys are pretty good!” Lu Zheng complimented them.
“Hehe.” Lin Wan forced a smile and then asked casually, “you didn’t notice that you lost your fruit knife?”
“I’ve only used it twice to peel an apple since I bought it.” Lu Zheng shook his head. “I regret eating an apple. If I didn’t use it at all, he would have stolen it for nothing!”
Lin Wan chuckled. “You’re really unlucky. You showed off your skills and got targeted by the murderer.”
Lu Zheng sighed. “Yeah. Things are different now. One just has to lie on the ground to defeat an expert.”
Lin Wan couldn’t help covering her mouth and chuckling, and then she said. “That’s true, but you hid it well. You didn’t even show your skills in university? I’m sure it’ll attract the girls.”
“Uh, I never thought of it.”
“I didn’t expect you to be such an good child.”
“This doesn’t sound like a compliment.”
“Have you eaten?”
“No, I’m not hungry,”
“After what happened, it’s understandable that you have no appetite. But no matter what, you have to eat. Let’s go.”
Lu Zheng blinked. He was about to find an excuse to reject the offer when the elevator door on the other side of the lobby opened. An average-looking middle-aged man walked out.
The Qi-searching talisman in his hand trembled slightly and he pointed it at the person.
The man’s eyes swept past Lu Zheng and Lin Wan, unmoved. Then, he strolled toward the entrance of the hall.
“What’s wrong?” When Lin Wan saw Lu Zheng suddenly staring at that person, she couldn’t help but shift her gaze.
“That person’s eyes…”
Lu Zheng mumbled to himself, “It looks familiar. It looks like… can it be?”
Lu Zheng stood up and walked toward the man.
Lin Wan frowned, got up, and followed. “Lu Zheng?”
However, Lu Zheng had already walked up to the back of the man. Without even greeting him, he silently punched the back of the man’s head.
There was a sound of wind as his fist moved quickly.
“Lu Zheng!”
However, the man was not hit.
He tilted his head to the side and dodged Lu Zheng’s punch. Then, he dashed toward the hotel’s entrance at top speed.
“It’s you!”
Lu Zheng hollered. He ran and his speed was even faster than his opponent.
The man suddenly turned around and waved his hand. A bright light flashed on his hand.
“Lu Zheng, be careful!” Lin Wan cried out in shock. The flash of light was from a sharp blade that was only thirty centimeters away from Lu Zheng’s neck.
Although he looked ordinary, his eyes were filled with killing intent.
He twisted his body and punched again.
“Bang!”
Lu Zheng’s fist hit the man’s temple.
Then, he turned over and fell.
It was only then that the people in the hotel lobby exclaimed. Half of them came forward to watch, while the other half began to call the police.
“Police!”
Lin Wan shouted and rushed to Lu Zheng’s side.
She looked at the middle-aged man who had fallen to the ground with his eyes rolled back.
“He is…”
“Don’t you think it’s a coincidence?” Lu Zheng’s voice was filled with shock. “You asked me to think of the people I met in the past two days. I remembered the night I went home and happened to see a delivery man.
At that time, he was in the same elevator as me. When I reached the 17th floor, he went to the highest floor. We even looked at each other.”
Lin Wan was shocked. “He was wearing a mask, right? You remembered the characteristics of his eyes and eyebrows?”
Lu Zheng pointed at the middle-aged man on the ground. “I saw him again and it jolted my memory.”
Lin Wan was speechless. “But isn’t this too much of a coincidence?”
Lu Zheng smiled. “I can’t help it. It’s just such a coincidence.”
