I have an Apocalypse City - Chapter 574
Chapter 574: Chapter 574: Dragon Soul
“Get out of here!”
Suravi roared, wildly waving the magic staff in his hand. Instantly, countless light arrows shot towards Onika, like a sudden downpour.
Song Jian narrowed his eyes, focusing on the shadowy figure behind Onika. This ethereal shadow gave Song Jian a strange feeling, both familiar and unfamiliar.
Onika let out a shriek, retreating from the room and into the courtyard.
Suravi followed close behind, and Song Jian glanced at Anna. At this moment, she was holding the Goblet of Life, staunchly standing guard by the City Lord’s sickbed.
After a moment’s hesitation, Song Jian rushed out of the house. The chance to witness combat between two individuals who had exceeded the first-tier of combat power, was exceedingly rare. If Song Jian could spectate, it would potentially be greatly beneficial to his future growth.
However, battles of such caliber were fraught with extreme danger. Mere aftershocks from the fighting would be more than enough to overwhelm an ordinary person. Many who had stumbled upon such scenarious not only failed to benefit but ended up losing their lives.
Suravi floated in mid-air above the City Lord Mansion. The elegant robes Onika was wearing had vanished, replaced with pitch-black form-fitting scale armour. In her hands, she held two short swords that shimmered with a sinister green light, evidently coated in potent poison.
“Blood Queen, the City of Sin is not yours to touch!” Suravi thundered as dark clouds roiled above him, streaks of lightning darting through the sky like silver dragons.
Behind the Blood Queen, the illusory form of a dragon was roaring at the heavens, exuding an imposing aura. A thick, blood-red aura emanated from her body, making one feel as if gazing upon a mountain of corpses bathed in blood.
Song Jian’s gaze showed relief. The discomfort he had felt ever since first meeting the City Lord’s wife now made sense—he had felt as though he was standing before a tumultuous sea of boiling blood. He had initially assumed it was an illusion, but it seemed that the City Lord’s wife had managed to hide her true nature under a deep disguise.
The fight between Suravi and Onika escalated, causing many buildings within the City Lord Mansion to crumble into ruins. However, soon a barrier of light enveloped the entire mansion, shielding it from the aftereffects of the battle.
The battle moved from the ground to mid-air, splitting the sky in two. One side was covered in dark clouds with flashes of lightning, while the other half roiled like a sea of blood with massive waves.
Such a battle was astonishingly spectacular, leaving Song Jian yearning for the day when he might possess such terrifying power.
Roar~
The shadowy figure behind Onika suddenly let out a roar, spewing a jet of black flame at Suravi.
Suravi swiped his right hand in front of him, creating a shield of light that blocked the flaming onslaught from the shadowy figure.
“Dragon’s Breath!” Song Jian murmured, eyes narrowed.
This attack was all too familiar to Song Jian; the Shadow Giant Dragon, and even his pet, the Black Dragon, both employed Dragon’s Breath as their primary attack.
Simple as it was, the attack packed a tremendous punch and was hard for most to withstand.
“What kind of ability allows for the summoning of a Black Dragon’s illusion? And moreover, why does it bear little difference to a real dragon?” Song Jian frowned, carefully analyzing the abilities used by both combatants.
Suravi was a wizard, although Song Jian didn’t understand all of his abilities, he was able to relate the basic energy usage and some other magical aspects to similar occupations.
On the other hand, Song Jian didn’t have a clue about Onika’s profession. Her equipment and weapon suggested that she was a melee fighter, but she also seemed to have the ability to conduct magical attacks and even summon an image of a dragon.
Seemingly undefeatable, as the time passed, Onika gradually began to gain the upper hand. Suravi increasingly adopted a defensive stance, hardly ever attacking Onika anymore.
Song Jian’s heart sank. If the current situation persisted, Suravi was bound to be defeated. Once that happened, who would be able to resist Onika?
Just then, a beam of white light descended from above Suravi, momentarily restoring a small portion of his Vitality Points.
Song Jian turned his head and saw Anna, supporting a middle-aged man standing at the mansion’s entrance. The man looked drained, but his eyes shimmered with determination. The pain was evident in his eyes as he gazed at Onika.
The healing light on Suravi’s head was released by Anna. As a Life Priest, Anna’s healing ability was undoubtedly the most formidable amongst priests of equal level.
With Anna’s help, Suravi quickly regained his footing and stabilized the situation.
“Onika, why have you become like this? Why…why have you tried to kill me?” The City Lord’s face was scored with pain as he bellowed out loud.
“Don’t call me Onika. My name is Blood Queen Onikxia!” Onika roared back, the dragonic shadow behind her letting out an angry roar towards the City Lord.
Just then, Song Jian suddenly sensed strong fluctuations coming from his Pet Space. When he checked, it was his pet Black Dragon, roaring furious and signaling to him its strong desire to join the fray.
Song Jian thought against summoning his Black Dragon at that moment, knowing it would make no difference in the outcome of the battle. However, going against the dragon’s will could seriously affect the loyalty of his pet.
With a mere thought, the Black Dragon, massive in size, appeared beside Song Jian, roaring furiously at Onika in the sky.
To Song Jian’s surprise, the Black Dragon decided to take matters into its own claws, flapping its wings, and charging directly at Onika.
Song Jian was taken aback. Although the Black Dragon commanded first-tier combat power, it still was no match for Onika. Its Dragon Might was unlikely to have much effect on a formidable opponent like Onika.
“A dragon? A young dragon!” Suravi looked surprised as he turned to look at Song Jian. Anyone capable of owning a dragon as their pet was sure to be someone extraordinary.
“Young man, call back your pet. Even though it’s a dragon, it’s still growing and is no match for Onika… or rather, the Blood Queen!” Suravi advised Song Jian with a nod and a friendly demeanor.
“I…I can’t control it. I don’t know why, but it was being restless in the Pet Space. The moment I let it out, before I could command it, it just charged straight into the fight,” Song Jian explained with a bitter smile and a shrug of his shoulders.
Suravi’s eyebrows furrowed. After pondering for a while, his gaze returned to the dragon shadow behind Onika and an expression of astonishment crossed his face.
“This… this isn’t mimicry magic. This… this is… a dragon’s Dragon Soul!” Suravi exclaimed in shock.
“Onikxia, you dared to refine a dragon’s Dragon Soul!” Suravi roared, “Your audacity knows no bounds! Aren’t you afraid of incessant, relentless retaliation from the Dragon Clan!”
