Chapter 32: Chopping Them Off For You
When such a beautiful little girl arrived at the hospital, she would naturally be at the center of attention.
Lu Junhan’s schedule was packed, but he still managed to squeeze in enough time to accompany Lu Li as she went through her medical examination. After they were done with that, he would leave the hospital and return to the company.
He asked Song Qingwan to send Lu Li back to the mansion.
That was the reason why he got Song Qingwan to follow them to the hospital.
Lu Li wanted to follow her daddy back to his workplace.
Still, she sensed how busy her daddy had been for the past few days. Maybe he wouldn’t even have enough time to be with her, even if she was there at his company. Worse, she might even become a nuisance to her daddy by staying there with him.
Thus, she remained silent and didn’t make any further demands.
Lu Junhan was surprised by how compliant she was acting.
He had been so busy with his work that he had forgotten the fact that he had a daughter waiting for him back at home.
But the clingy little girl who always broke down into tears whenever he left for work was now completely fine with him going back to the company.
He thought that perhaps the little thing had realized how Song Qingwan was treating her much better than compared to how he treated her. Perhaps she herself had forgotten about her precious daddy?
But from how overjoyed she seemed when he first saw her and based on what Song Qingwan told him, it didn’t seem like this was the case.
She was still the same little troublemaker who loved to whine and act clingy towards her daddy. Still, credit where credit is due, she was surprisingly understanding…
She wasn’t that troublesome at all.
Lu Junhan glanced at Lu Li.
She was standing there quietly as she peered back at him with her dark, curious eyes. Her eyelashes would flutter above her face, which seemed so pure and innocent. She was so adorable that it wasn’t surprising how she had attracted a lot of attention from the people at the hospital.
The man’s thin lips curled upwards slightly.
She’s…pretty cute.
As expected of his daughter.
He couldn’t resist the urge to pat her head one more time. However, when he did so, he still wore that classic frown of his.
She was too young. She seemed so delicate and frail as if anyone could come over and take her life away effortlessly…
“Daddy?” the little girl asked with a puzzled expression.
Lu Junhan pulled away his hand and then switched to a more compassionate facial expression. “Are you afraid?” he asked her.
“Yes, Lili. Are you afraid?” Song Qingwan asked. “If you are afraid, we…”
Children tend to be aversive to hospitals. After all, the Yin energy[1] is way too potent here. It was bone-chillingly cold. Even if their parents were here by their side, many children would beg to go home, to the point where some would even start throwing tantrums.
“No,” replied Lu Li as she shook her head. She then continued speaking in a happy tone, “It is so cool here! I like this place a lot! Daddy, will we be coming here again next time?”
Lu Junhan, “…”
He had forgotten about one thing. As frail as this little thing seemed, she was probably more courageous than anyone else here.
Lu Li spent two hours going through the entire checkup. Because of the sheer amount of tests she went through, they would have to wait for a couple of days before receiving the full report of her medical assessment.
Lu Junhan’s phone had never stopped ringing when Lu Li was being examined. Within the span of two hours, he had picked up no less than 30 calls.
Song Qingwan felt sorry for the girl, which was a major part of the reason why she ordered Lu Junhan to come back and take her to the hospital himself. However, upon seeing how busy her nephew actually was, she realized that he wasn’t having it easy either.
Then, she said, “If you really have too many things to settle, you should go back to your office first. Leave the rest to me.”
“No,” Lu Junhan hung up the call with a slight frown, “I will personally bring her to the psychologist’s clinic.”
The fewer the people who knew about his little girl’s violent tendencies, the better.
It was rare to see Lu Junhan change his plans after a decision had been made. Song Qingwan knew that once that happened though, there was nothing one could do to make him change his mind again, so she refrained from doing so.
She then realized that maybe the little girl would be much more relaxed when going through counseling with her daddy next to her. Thus, she had no other choice but to agree to his plan. “Alright, I’ll be waiting for you two outside. If anything happens, you know my number.”
“Alright.”
…
At the psychological counseling clinic.
“Young Master Lu, I never expected that you’d show up at my clinic. I am extremely honored to have you as a patient of mine. Now, how may I be of help to you?”
The young man behind the desk had a pair of alluring eyes that tilted upwards at the corners. His red, thin lips were curled as he smiled at Lu Junhan. “I did tell you that you’re too cruel in the way you conduct your business. Didn’t I warn that it would one day affect you psychologically? To think that you sent people over to beat me up after I invited you to come for a mental health assessment. What’s the matter now? Let me guess, you regret what you did and have come to me for help?”
“Stop wasting your breath,” Lu Junhan responded. He was cold, as usual. “I’m not here to assess my mental health. It’s her I want you to analyze.”
“Your daughter?”
The man was obviously aware of the rumor which had by now, spread across their nation. As such, he wasn’t that surprised to hear what he said. Quite the contrary actually. He sounded even more excited when he realized that his patient would be Lu Junhan’s daughter.
“Where is the little girl Daddy is speaking of? Come out and let uncle take a good look at you.”
As soon as he said that, Lu Li’s head peeked out from behind Lu Junhan’s back. She didn’t seem shy at all. Lu Li looked up at the psychologist with her dreamy dark eyes and said with a cutesy child’s voice, “How are you doing, uncle? My name’s Lu Li. Li as in Pear Blossoms! This is my daddy! He’s super cool!”
Of course, she did not forget to compliment her own daddy at the end of her little self-introduction.
Her twin tails, which were tied up with pink ribbons bounced as she spoke, which made her seem even more adorable.
“What a cute, cute little girl you are. Where did this little angel come from? She’s way too adorable…”
Xu Ciye was immediately charmed by the little girl’s cuteness. One could almost see the hearts in his eyes as he extended his arms. He wanted to nuzzle his face in her pudgy little cheeks. “Come, let uncle give you a great big hug,” he said.
However, his arms were smacked away heartlessly by Lu Junhan as soon as they opened up.
He issued an ultimatum expressionlessly, “Hands off her! Do that again, and I might just chop them off your torso!”
[1] T/N: It is a reference to the Chinese Taoist concept of Yin-Yang. In this context, hospitals possess strong “Yin” energy whereas children possess “Yang” energy, a clash which explains their aversion to hospitals.
