Chapter 239 – “Actually, there’s this other competition……” (3)
Previously, when Gu Shao had Wang Wu and the others looking into Lin Yize, they also came across a woman by the name of Meng Zixin – Lisa in front of them right now.
To a certain extent, Lisa and Song Kexin looked a lot like each other.
As such, it made sense to Gu Shao that Gu Xi had a certain level of curiosity toward Lisa.
Except that, wasn’t the brat showing a tad too much attention towards Lisa?
Gu Shao frowned a little.
From his understanding of his daughter, even if she was to see someone that greatly resembled someone else that she knew, it did not make sense that she would react so strongly.
From what he could see right now, Lisa being there affected Gu Xi a lot.
Or was it that Gu Xi was thinking about Song Kexin through Lisa?

The father and daughter each had their own thoughts.
That lasted until the end of the demonstration.
Even though Qiao Luo only accepted the project for the sake of establishing a long-term relationship with NTN, he was still stunned after he had watched the entire demonstration. The operation of the entire monitoring system was much more powerful than how it was described verbally in the documentations that he had read thus far. If they could really set them up at all the ideal locations, they just might be able to establish a large and invisible net over the southeastern region of the international sea.
Qiao Luo couldn’t help but applaud. “This monitoring system is amazing!”
If only they could see the demonstration that he had just seen, he was certain that the governments of those countries would be willing to pay twice the amount.
“Don’t worry, Boss Gu. I will reach out to the other potential buyers as soon as possible!”
“In addition, I will be staying within China for as long as I can. If you need anything, just make the arrangements as you see fit. I will do my best to work with your schedule.” Qiao Luo promised Gu Shao.
NTN had already become Qiao Luo’s biggest client and, as such, they would take precedence over everything else. Not to mention that the demonstration had allowed Qiao Luo to see a huge long-term profit that he wasn’t aware of previously.
“In addition, Lisa will be staying in City B for a while as well. Please feel free to reach out to her if I am not around, Boss Gu.”
Gu Shao gave Meng Zixin a look and she nodded at Gu Shao, Xu Fei, and the others. “Please feel free to reach out to me if you need anything.”
Gu Shao did not comment on that.

After their meeting, Qiao Luo invited Gu Shao to dinner enthusiastically but was declined by Gu Shao with a simple “I have plans already”.
It was not any kind of a special date. He merely promised Old Mr. Gu that he would be bringing Gu Xi there for dinner tonight.
The two arrived at the Gu’s main residence.
Gu Xi had just walked inside the yard when she was successfully shocked by the serious decorations of ribbons and lights.
The little Firmiana simplex right smack in the middle, in particular, was covered in red strings. The red strings themselves were not heavy but, perhaps because there were just too many of them, it gave people the feeling that the tree was bent from it.
“Why are there so many red strings on the tree? Do they have any special meaning?” Gu Xi couldn’t help but ask. Gu Xi would never have noticed it had it not been for the excessive amount of red strings over it today.
Butler Zhou looked in the direction that Gu Xi was pointing at and couldn’t help but smile and went on to explain, “Old Mr. Gu was the one who placed them there.”
Having said that, Butler Zhou went on to tell Gu Xi the background behind that tree.
“Old Mr. Gu planted that tree himself when they found you.” They were going to plant a peach or almond tree originally, but Old Mr. Gu felt that their implied messages were too shallow and not good enough. They finally decided on the Firmiana simplex.
Old Mr. Gu had been taking care of this tree himself. Under Old Mr. Gu’s care, the tree had been growing quickly and had grown a lot since it was a seedling.
As for the meaning of the red strings on top of them, they were no big deal.
“Whenever Old Mr. Gu found any red strings with good words or meanings on them, he’d hang them on the tree.” When he found out that his granddaughter was #1 in her grade, he was so happy that he “bought” another batch of red strings and added all of them onto the tree.
The butler explained to Gu Xi.
Old Mr. Gu had not always been a believer in things like that. As he had gotten older, he quite enjoyed something with meaningful implied messages.
Upon hearing that, the corners of Gu Xi’s lips twitched. “……” That was a heavy burden to carry.
She felt both touched and helpless at the same time.
