Chapter 258 – Sheng Xiuyan’s look froze on his face. (2)
As his daughter didn’t want him dropping her off at school, Gu Shao headed to his office alone.
Gu Shao had just finished up one meeting in his office at NTN when his secretary announced that Lisa was there to see him.
Looking at Meng Zixin in front of him, Gu Shao did not say anything. He left the opportunity up to Meng Zixin to explain the situation to him.
Meng Zixin, on the other hand, did not hesitate in offering up information to Gu Shao voluntarily. That included the part where she had taken off with Lin Yize alone and his intention to recruit her onto his side.
“And that was what happened last night. As for me leaving with Mr. Lin Yize alone, I simply didn’t want him to affect the banquet. I came to clear the air up with Boss Gu today so there won’t be any misunderstandings.”
Having said that, Meng Zixin looked quietly at Gu Shao and waited for his response.
Meng Zixin had expected Gu Shao to ask her about her relationship with Lin Yize and her current attitude toward Lin Yize, but he didn’t.
All he said was, “With the project being launched and Mr. Lin, as the party who’s interest was harmed in the meantime, it is only normal that he would try to put pressure on you. What’s Mr. Jiao’s thoughts on this?”
Gu Shao asked about Qiao Luo and not Meng Zixin. That was to say that he only cared about how Qiao Luo planned to handle this. He was not interested in with went on between Meng Zixin and Lin Yize.
After the initial surprise, Meng Zixin understood Gu Shao’s intention.
“I can respond to that for my boss.” Pausing a little, Meng Zixin elaborated, “We had already worked with our partners in the Southeast for many years and the contracts that we had already signed would not be affected. In addition, Big Sister would not need to worry about things on China’s end. If the Lin’s is to put pressure on our current channel, we have other ones.”
Having said that, Meng Zixin smiled and said, “Besides, NTN’s projects have always met the official requirements. I don’t think there are much the Lin family could do even if they try.”
Meng Zixin took the opportunity to give Gu Shao more information on what had been going on before she took off.
After she was gone, Xu Fei said in a low voice while looking in the door’s direction and said, “Luckily, this Meng Zixin had her head on her shoulders.” And that she didn’t do anything stupid.
Gu Shao gave Xu Fei a look upon hearing that and did not opine on it.
From where he stood, Meng Zixin merely made a normal decision and judgement.
“Watch them closely and take care of it when the Lin family try things,” said Gu Shao.
“Yes, Sir,” said Xu Fei.

When Gu Xi arrived at school, all she could think of was still what happened the night before and her dream.
In the novel, the part about “Lin Xi” going offline was overly simply and, with the exception of the outcome, the details were very blurry as well. As for her dream, Lin Xi felt that there was a big chunk missing in it.
How did the Gu family go downhill? And did Gu Shao really show up at the end?
All the thoughts gave Gu Xi a headache.
Quickly, however, she no longer had time to worry about those.
The official website for Tianchuang Competition had made an official announcement: The first round of open competition was set for Saturday morning and the location was the Chi YunChen Technology Center Convention Hall.
Gu Xi and the others started wrapping up their final preparation for the first round of competition after they saw the announcement.
In the [Battle at the Summit of Tianchuang] chatgroup, [Lin] posted the latest test result along with a video clip of the machine running.
[Lin]: I ran it two more times. It’s pretty stable right now.
[X]: That looks so awesome!
Gu Xi said truthfully.
[AAA]: Am I not awesome?
[X]: You both are~
Having said that, Gu Xi also posted to the chatgroup the design for the smart companion that she had come up with herself.
In the drawing was a robot in resembling the shape of a water droplet. It had wheels under it for when it needed to move around.
[X]: What do you think?
[AAA]: Cute.
[Lin]: Not bad.
Suddenly, [Lin] asked: [No color?]
Gu Xi was taken aback a little when she saw that. She didn’t color it because she thought that white was a common color.
[X]: You don’t like it white? I thought we can come up with other colors in the future if necessary.
[Lin]: I think pink is better.
Gu Xi was almost stunned when she read that. She re-read it a few times to make sure that she didn’t misread. The comment about “pink”, indeed, came from [Lin], the boss of few words.
Gu Nian, “……” She would have thought that a boss like Lin would much prefer it white, or black.
Luckily, [Lin] quickly added in the next second: White will work. We can make it out of special yu-w material.
These materials were similar to what was used on cellphone screens, except that they were white. Different colors could be displayed based on electromagnetic perception.
As such, the users can decide on its color basing their own preference.
[X]: Should we give it a name too?
[Lin]: Sure.
[Lin]: How about Xibao?
“Xibao?” Gu Xi read the name out loud. She couldn’t quite put her finger on it, but it sounded sort of cliché.
She had expected [AAA] to make fun of that name but, lo and behold, [AAA] said, to her surprise: Yeah. I like it!
[AAA]: Or Xibao, Xibao, Xibao.
[Lin]: Right. Or it could be Xibao, Xibao.*
……
Looking at the serious discussion between the two, Gu Xi was befuddled. She had no idea why these two were so obsessed with “Xi”.

Translator’s notes:
In case you haven’t figured that out yet, the 6 x Xibao’s all had different first characters, but all rhymes with “Xi”. “Bao” is just baby or precious.
