I Was A Porter - Chapter 1

Prologue 

“Now the raid is entering to close the last gate. I hope you will come back safely as you are leaving. I’m Kim Su-ryun at the scene.”

As soon as the reporter on the scene ended, three people sat side by side at the news studio’s long table—the camera close-up of the man sitting in the middle.

“Can the raid block the last gate? For more information, I’d like to hear from Irish Guild Master Choi Young-ho and Director Shin Eun-jin, director of the International Gate Management Association.”

“Nice to meet you. I am Choi Young-ho, Irish Guild Master.”

“Yes, Choi Young-ho, hello. First, I would like to extend my sincere consolation to you for not being able to participate in this last gate expedition.”

At the Anchor’s words, Choi’s face turned red instantly.

After the Anchor questioned, he calmed down Choi Young-ho, who intervened one after another, and then looked back at Director Shin Eun-jin.

In response to the Anchor’s question, Shin Eun-jin cut his neck for a moment and then opened his mouth.

Choi Young-ho, who was shaking his butt while the Anchor and director Shin Eun-jin spoke to each other, raised his hands.

Even though they didn’t know who was involved, Choi Young-ho continued to cut in, and the Anchor who was in trouble didn’t show emotion in her expression.

“Yeah, Choi, please tell me.”

“If there is a 16% chance, the gate will become unstable immediately, so you have to subdue it. At this time, the personnel should be composed of A-class hunters, and all core Irish hunters will attend. Including ours.”

When Choi Young-ho’s horses showed signs of prolongation, the Anchor raised her hand and hung up.

“I am grateful for the information, but it seems that the topic is getting longer. Can you organize it shortly?”

“It is possible to subdue if you have 12 times the number of hunters with a level similar to the raid you entered.”

There are fewer than 20,000 A-class hunters worldwide. However, it is unrealistic that 24,000 people can subdue. Anchor and director Shin Eun-jin did not hide their embarrassed expression.

When the atmosphere was about to become awkward, the position of the porter began.

The camera illuminates the rear end of the train entering the gate. It gave a close-up of a man walking silently with a military commander looking heavy even at a glance.

When the raids entered, Anchor began to disregard stories to capture the viewers.

Director Shin Eun-jin, who said the raid’s gates would be successful two days later, was right.

However, Lee Seung-ho did not return.

The number of people who did not return was quite high; most of the personnel that did not return were porters.

Raid Captain Drax publicly announced the official position of the raid at an official press conference.

“Going to the gate nucleus went smoothly. When the core destroyed, the gate master began to run out, controlling all the monsters to launch a total attack and retreating to protect the loaders as much as possible. However, some of the horrors which were frightened by the endless monsters tried to escape. Thanks to Drax’s official statement and the testimony of some surviving porters, the problem of the porters missing after joining the raid was somewhat noisy, but soon faded.

That was a very successful retreat, even if only escaped from the flock of monsters.

Despite the total attack of the furious Gate Master, Drax, who sacrificed minimally and stably escaped, deserved praise.

Conversely, Lee Seung-ho, the only member of the raid in Korea, was almost recognized as a coward who died while running away from monsters. During the confusion, Drax appealed not to insult the dead bearers, saying that it was his fault for failing to deliver the order.

Drax’s popularity to blame himself for not controlling his teammates, not for the runners who died on the run, has soared day by day.

The last gate was closed, and the hunters lost their jobs.

The majority of the people were looking for other sources of income, and there was no problem in playing correctly with the money they had made.

Most of the hunters with strong abilities were transferred to the security service and gradually began to adapt to society.

But ten years later, the gate began to open again.
