If You Could Hear My Heart - Chapter 652
Chapter 652: Chapter 652: The Petty Person Who Takes Revenge in the Name of Public Interest
“How did you get into my room?” Xu Chaomu kept her distance from him warily.
“What’s yours is mine,” the man said arrogantly, his sharp eyes staring at her.
“Shameless.” Xu Chaomu found herself at a loss for words in response.
Suddenly, she remembered that she was supposed to go to work today. But why didn’t her alarm go off?!
She began to search for her phone frantically, looking all over the bed, but where could it be?
“Looking for this?” Shen Chi raised the phone he was holding in his hand.
“How did my phone end up with you? What did you do with my phone again?” Xu Chaomu hurried to snatch it back.
Shen Chi kept the phone in his hand, not letting her grab it.
Xu Chaomu was persistent, pouncing on him, determined to get her phone back.
As a result, the situation turned into her on top of him…
Shen Chi took the opportunity to wrap his arms around her waist, a wicked smile spread across his handsome face as he held her down, rendering her immobile.
His voice husky, he spoke deeply, “Mumu, do you like the position with the woman on top?”
“Get lost!” Xu Chaomu’s face flushed red as she struggled to get up.
But Shen Chi used strength to hold her down, not allowing her to move.
“This position is quite good, saves effort for the man,” he continued shamelessly.
His large hand held her waist tightly, not letting her move. Xu Chaomu’s face was beet red, why couldn’t this man wake up without being shameless in the morning?
“Give me back my phone, did you spy on it again?” Xu Chaomu said indignantly.
“Afraid I saw something?” Shen Chi raised an eyebrow, unwilling to return the phone.
In fact, he had only dismissed the alarm on her phone and hadn’t looked at anything else. However, she seemed quite anxious about it.
“Didn’t your teacher ever teach you not to take other people’s things?” Xu Chaomu stretched out to grab it from behind him.
As she lay on top of him, he caught the fresh scent of flowers from her body, along with a unique maternal fragrance emanating from her as a pregnant woman.
He was infatuated with these scents.
He felt as if his body was on fire. This girl was like lighting a fire while lying on top of him—didn’t she know that men in their twenties were in their prime like wolves?
“The teacher also taught me that as a wife, you must fulfill your responsibilities as one,” Shen Chi looked at her.
“Your teacher taught you these tricks?” Xu Chaomu gave him a skeptical glance, not believing a word.
Just as she reached to snatch the phone from him, Shen Chi forcefully grabbed both her hands with his large one.
He was inherently stronger than her, plus he trained in Taekwondo. Xu Chaomu stood no chance against him.
After holding her hands, he flipped through her phone.
Sure enough, she had called and texted Nie Chenglang the day before. No wonder she was so nervous.
“Why are you messing with my things again, Shen Chi? Can you just give me my phone?” Xu Chaomu was furious.
He looked at the messages; they were just casual greetings, but words like “good night” made him very uncomfortable.
He furrowed his brows and snorted disdainfully, “Xu Chaomu, you really are not simple.”
Xu Chaomu knew she couldn’t struggle free from him, so she stopped moving, turned her head away, and refused to pay him any attention.
Ever since he had returned yesterday, he had been jealous. And now, was he still simmering with jealousy?
She was quite tired, and since he was not willing to let her go, she simply lay on his chest and closed her eyes.
“Xu Chaomu,” Shen Chi snorted coldly again.
“Hmm,” she murmured with her eyes closed, groggily acknowledging him. She was very sleepy; let her be.
“How many times did you secretly meet with him while I was away?” Shen Chi asked.
Seeing Xu Chaomu obediently half-asleep on him, he let go of her wrists, but he didn’t give the phone back to her.
“Hmm…” Xu Chaomu ignored him, overcome with sleepiness.
His chest was still warm and comfortable to lie on, and lying on her side felt different.
“I’m asking you a question,” Shen Chi said angrily.
… This time, Xu Chaomu didn’t make a sound. She had fallen asleep.
Because she was really very tired!
The corner of Shen Chi’s mouth twitched with a mix of frustration and resignation. During the days he was away, she must have seen Nie Chenglang many times.
He silently scrolled through her phone. There wasn’t much to imply infidelity, but the messages told him that she and Nie Chenglang were still in contact.
However, now she was asleep. Shen Chi’s face showed helplessness as his large hand, without much resolve, gently patted her back, covered her with the blanket, and let her lie half on top of him.
He himself couldn’t sleep, so he sent a few text messages to Xiao Mo.
He had long seen that Li Beiting couldn’t get Yu Weiwei out of his mind; too bad Li Beiting didn’t make a move even until the engagement yesterday.
He had been quite disappointed in him, but now there was still a chance to make amends.
Xu Chaomu slept for more than an hour, finally waking up around nine, groggy and disoriented.
Shen Chi’s entire arm was sore and aching. Despite his frustration, he was still doting on her after all.
“Get up if you’re awake, don’t lie on top of me,” Shen Chi said coldly.
Xu Chaomu was indeed awake, but to “retaliate” against him, she pretended to be asleep, continuing to press down on him.
She only “hmm”ed and opened her eyes after hearing his words.
“I think I’m late…” Xu Chaomu looked at him, pleadingly.
“My fault?”
“Whose fault if not yours? You were the one who turned off the alarm!”
“When you woke up, you could have gone to the corporation, you weren’t late, but you chose to continue sleeping,” Shen Chi stated indifferently.
“What do you mean?”
“Unauthorized absence, waiting to be docked pay,” Shen Chi smirked coldly, “Twice in a month means packing up and going home!”
“You’re despicable, it was you who took my phone!”
“As I just said, when you woke up, you could have gone to the corporation, you weren’t late!”
Xu Chaomu understood; he was taking his personal grudge into the workplace, a man with a hundred ways to make life difficult for her.
“Twice in a month means packing up and going home!” Shen Chi coldly reiterated.
Grinding her teeth, Xu Chaomu rolled over off of him and tousled her hair.
This was the first instance; given Shen Chi’s pettiness, it would be easy for him to set her up again.
“A petty man who holds grudges.” Xu Chaomu looked at him through gritted teeth.
“Not convinced?” Shen Chi looked at her with a cold eye.
“Convinced.” Xu Chaomu continued to grit her teeth.
“Hmm, behave,” Shen Chi sat up and patted her head.
Xu Chaomu felt defiant, not wanting to pay him any attention, and began dressing on her own.
“Since you’re off work today anyway, there’s no need to go to the office,” Shen Chi stated calmly.
Xu Chaomu paused for a moment, then smiled at him, “Sure, you call them and ask for a day off for me, then I won’t go.”
He obviously wanted her to stay with him, coming up with all these lofty reasons and even threatening her.
“Well, I won’t stop you then,” Shen Chi said indifferently, “When you get back, remember to work on the blueprints. If you don’t understand something, ask Linda.”
