60. Very good news (2)
Sohee and Deon returned to the city of Latvea.
The man who had dropped her off before Duke Pearson left Filtmore mansion and said he would return soon. Since there was nowhere else to go, Sohee decided to return to Pearson’s mansion. It wasn’t a very good move since she was the one who followed Deon to Filtmore mansion. Ariad’s trashy public opinion might get transferred to Deon, instead. Nevertheless, she was afraid to enter the Pearson mansion since she knew in advance that no one would welcome Ariad. The business of the Pearson family was greatly influenced by Ariad. The crown princess’s status and unrivaled beauty had created a trend among young people to imitate her, and as a result, the sale of luxury goods was a great success. Not to mention, Ariad’s image had reached a low point. Therefore, she was convinced that even the people of the Pearson family and Ariad’s parents wouldn’t welcome her.
“I don’t know. Let’s just bump into each other for now.”
Even the young Han So-hee had already been abandoned once so there was nothing to be hurt by as she possessed Ariad. Sohee walked out bravely. Whether the article was true about the Pearson family experiencing financial difficulties, their place seemed shabbier for a Duke. It looked much smaller than Deon’s mansion in the countryside. It was chilly inside. Even if darkness had pervaded their attendants’ faces, they looked rather surprised at Ariad’s appearance. When someone ran inside the mansion to announce her appearance, a woman believed to be Ariad’s mother walked out. A dark shadow crossed on her face. It must be resentment. When Mrs. Pearson’s hand rose into the air, So-hee closed her eyes without realizing it. She expected that in that short moment, she would slap her face but the hand pulled her instead. When she came to her senses, it was a warm embrace of a woman. Surprised, Sohee squinted at her.
“Ariad, my baby. Where have you been all this time?” So-hee’s heart faltered from that warm greeting. “I was very worried about you. How have you been?”
Lost for words, So-hee bit her lip. Her unexpected reaction stunned her completely. Mrs. Pearson removed her arm when no reply was heard from Ariad. Then, she gently wrapped her cheek around her. “I’m glad you look healthy though.”
So-hee’s tears filled her eyes when she heard the affection and sincerity in that statement.
“Don’t you feel sorry for me?”
“We should be the ones who should be sorry. It’s our fault for forcing an unwanted marriage on you.”
Sohee thought her mother would be so furious at Ariad. It was an unexpected development because she wasn’t loved by her parents.
“Ariad, I heard you’re with child———” rs. Pearson looked down at her stomach and paused. So-hee felt dizzy from the recollection but she tried to smile.
“My baby… is not here anymore. That’s what happened——-”
As she spoke, tears blurred her vision. So-hee hurriedly wiped it off with the back of her hand.
“Ariad, it’s all right. We can start over. We can get through this together.” Mrs. Pearson continued to repeat the words. In her arms, So-hee regretted her thoughts in the past. Ariad’s mother was an extra anyway, so it would be alright. Now, she couldn’t sit by and watch their situation at the edge of a cliff while being comforted in this warm embrace. As a result, So-hee thoroughly regretted her past choices. If that choice had ruined everything, it was enough to put everything behind. She shouldn’t forget the things she couldn’t return to and keep all of them in her heart. She wanted to restore everything related to Ariad as much as possible. So-hee’s heart was filled with the promise of catching the criminal who killed the child and restoring the Pearson family to its original state.

The next day, So-hee, who had just finished breakfast at Pearson’s mansion, entered the room, feeling troubled. Blue Levi. She had to go to the palace to find the woman who tried to kill her. Still, there was no suitable way for Ariad, the current garbage of the ton, to enter the palace. If she had a chance, she wanted to meet Mary there and ask her if she knew this Blue Levi. As she pondered various ways, Mrs. Pearson entered her room while holding an envelope.
“Ariad, we have hope!” She exclaimed as she handed Sohee the gilded envelope.
[From Charles Endro]
It was the name of a stranger.
“Read it. It’s good news!”
So-hee, who opened the envelope, blinked after reading the contents. He was asking Ariad, who had just returned to their residence, out on a date. Why? Sohee had such a question in her head. Why take this risk when there was nothing good about being involved with Ariad? Was this simply a man who adored Ariad like Deon? Mrs. Pearson explained about him before Sohee, who was in agony. He was the only son of the Endro family, and his father, Henrikin Endro, was the richest man among the nobles. After that enthusiastic explanation, Mrs. Pearson added a word, as she did yesterday.
“Ariad, we can get through this together.”
So-hee narrowed her brows. Mrs. Pearson’s smile, which should be like yesterday, seemed oddly contrived now.
