But there were no weapons beside him. What should he do then?
In his desperation, James developed a bold idea.
If he had no weapons…
Then he would just grab it with his hands!
Fighting his disgust and the dizziness in his head, James looked directly at the eyeballs and innards of the slime. Then, he withdrew his hands.
His two arms were soon covered by the mucus, and the burning pain from the corrosion was excruciating.
Even so, this couldn’t stop James’s will to live.
Meanwhile, his hands did not stop. They went deeper into the slime, grabbing at its pulsing internal organ.
The organ felt abnormally smooth, and just holding it in his hands made him feel disgusted.
However, James paid no attention to this. Instead, he began to push against the organ with both hands.
As he exerted his strength, he could feel the organ in his hand explode and liquid splattered everywhere!
A large amount of dark red viscous liquid flowed out from the monster’s body, while its viscous internal organs had been crushed into two.
The mucus that was constantly drilling into James’ flesh suddenly stopped moving as well.
“Ah!”
Sensing that his attack had taken effect, James immediately increased his strength and simply tore the organ apart.
The monster spasmed before it finally stopped struggling. Then, it turned into a pool of dark red mucus that splattered on the ground.
After a long time, the mucus stopped moving.
James let out a sigh and lay on his back.
Pain filled his entire body, while chaos and fear still stirred in his mind without retreating.
Dong dong dong!
At this moment, a sudden knock on the door woke James up.
“James! My child, what’s wrong?”
Outside the door was the worried voice of the landlady.
It looked like he wouldn’t be able to rest for the time being. James had no choice but endure the pain in his entire body to get up and open the door.
“My child, what exactly happened? I heard you screaming earlier, and sounds of fighting were coming from your room too.”
The landlady looked into the house uneasily and craned her neck to check the situation inside.
“Haha. That, Mrs. Kulis, is my pet gnome Kasma. It’s now in a rebellious phase and is really hard to discipline. But don’t worry, I will definitely teach it well.” Once again, James brought up the pet gnome that he had fabricated.
After a long, frantic explanation, James finally managed to convince the sensitive Mrs. Kulis.
He wiped the cold sweat off his forehead as he watched Mrs. Kullis leave.
Fortunately, the old lady’s eyesight was bad. Thus, she did not see the disgusting dark red mucus on his body or notice his hands that had been behind his back throughout.
Looking down at his bloodied hands, James felt somewhat helpless.
Then, he turned around as he rubbed his throbbing head and faced his messy house, not knowing what to do with the mess.
It was the middle of the night. Thus, he couldn’t possibly go out into the wild and burn this strange slime again.
Besides, he didn’t have much stamina left as the moment of life and death just now had drained all his stamina. In fact, he had even overexerted himself.
James fell into deep thought as he looked at the dark red fluid and organ.
…
In the blink of an eye, another 10 days had passed.
He nimbly tossed the corpse of a monster that had just been sacrificed onto the table. Then, James wiped the blood from his hands and sat down calmly.
Then, he took out a small knife and cleanly cut the monster’s head and internal organs. He was now extremely skilled at this.
Over the past few days, James had constantly received sacrifices from the cultists. They came in many types and all sorts of things were sent over.
Initially, he thought that he would be frustrated by these endless sacrifices one day. However, he did not expect that after so many days, he had actually gotten used to it.
Now, James was able to face the “gifts” sent by the cultists very calmly.
When he encountered disgusting organs or limbs of unknown creatures, he simply threw them into a sack and brought them to the back mountain to be burned.
Meanwhile, he sealed and hid those incantation books, strange materials, or food with mysterious powers under the floor tiles of the room after confirming that there was no special danger.
Sometimes, even if he was unlucky and encountered a living creature, he could still deal with it calmly, just like how he had dealt with the disgusting slime or the pitch-black skeleton monster.
As the number of sacrifices increased, he had even gradually mastered some methods to deal with the evil creatures. Furthermore, when he fought with them, he became more and more skilled.
The cultists would often send James some good things as well, such as the black eggs that he had eaten back then. As a result, James’s physique grew stronger, making it even easier to deal with those monsters.
In the past, it would take him a long time to kill those dark red slime monsters. But now, he could tear them into pieces with a casual tug.
The only trouble was that these items could disrupt the mind. Once he descended into madness and fear, it would be very difficult for him to escape.
He had almost been killed because of this last time.
However, there was nothing James could do about this. He could only fight the monsters while enduring the pain in his head.
Even when he encountered creatures that caused James to feel strangely nauseous, he would take a second look at them to adjust to them as he believed that he would get used to them with enough time.
This method really worked.
