Chapter 46: A Long Brewing Unusual Phenomenon
“Junior Brothers and Sisters, my understanding in the Dao is still too shallow to be shared. Therefore, today, I’m here to answer all the questions you have on the path of cultivation.”
Lu Changsheng was about to share Huang Ting Jing with them. However, he later realized that Huang Ting Jing would make the lecture very dull.
It wasn’t because Huang Ting Jing wasn’t worth sharing. In fact, Huang Ting Jing was too profound for many of the disciples right now. If the lecture wasn’t for everyone, then there was no point in having all the disciples in the sect gathered here.
Therefore, simply answering their questions might be a better way.
“Senior Brother, I have a question! Please give me an answer.” A disciple hurriedly stood up.
He was the quickest to ask out of all of them. Many disciples admired his courage.
“Go ahead.” Lu Changsheng nodded. The demeanor he showed was remarkably extraordinary.
“I’ve been practicing the Blaze Dragon recently, however, I’ve been having a difficult time maximizing its effects. The best I could do is about three to four tenths of its maximum power. Please teach me, Senior Brother,” the disciple said.
Blaze Dragon?
What’s that?
It sounds stupid.
Is this spell very powerful because of the word, dragon, in its name?
Lu Changsheng had no idea what this disciple was talking about.
He knew nothing about this spell.
At this time, Lu Changsheng tried recalling the book he read when he first came to the Zenith Land.
Five Thousand Years of Dharmic Dao? The Origin of Dharmic Dao? Lu Changsheng couldn’t even remember the name clearly.
Lu Changsheng still remembered some of the contents. And so, he slowly answered the question, “People are different from each other. Perhaps this is caused by your constitution. There is the chance that fire spells don’t suit you. Why don’t you try another spell?”
This was the best answer Lu Changsheng could come up with.
The disciple nodded and said, “Thank you, Senior Brother. I understand.”
Fortunately, the disciple accepted his answer right away, they wouldn’t have to spend too much time on a single question like this.
“Don’t ask more questions regarding Daoist spells. There are three hundred and thirty-six thousand books in the Hall of Thousands of Books. If you have any more questions like these, you can go there and read more books. You’ll find the answers you want.” Lu Changsheng could tell that a lot of disciples here shared similar questions, this is why he advised them in advance.
These questions were too difficult to answer, even for him.
“Senior Brother, can you please tell us what cultivation is?” Since questions on learning Daoist spells were prohibited, many disciples started to lose their interest. However, one disciple stood up and asked a rather unique question all of a sudden.
What is cultivation?
Lu Changsheng thought to himself for a while before answering, “Cultivation isn’t about fighting or killing. Cultivation is about feeling the world and the people in it. As cultivators, our eyes shouldn’t be blinded by temporary pursuits; such as fame, wealth, power, and even Dao. When we realize that none of them are important, our Dao’s Heart will be better strengthened.
“If a cultivator pursues fame and wealth, then he’s no longer a cultivator, but merely a common man who knows some spells.”
This was Lu Changsheng’s answer.
“However, our predecessors told us to strive for the ultimate Dao. Why is this so, Senior Brother?” The disciple asked further.
Lu Changsheng answered without hesitation, “Our predecessors were also right. But you have only seen the surface, not the core.
“If you fight against your destiny, you’ll have hope. If you fight against yourself, you’ll have confidence. If you keep comparing yourself to others, the struggle will only be endless.
“The Outer Sect disciples admire the Inner Sect disciples, the Inner Sect disciples admire the Core disciples, whereas the Core disciples admire the Immediate disciples, even the Immediate disciples admire the Saint Son. It doesn’t stop here, but the Saint Son of the sect also admires the Chief Leader. And now, the Chief Leader admires those who are more powerful than him. Do you see? It’s an endless cycle.”
Lu Changsheng’s words were splendid.
“I see.”
The disciples all nodded. Some of them were lost in their own thoughts, some were enlightened, and some had completely devoted themselves to Lu Changsheng’s lecture.
In fact, Lu Changsheng had no idea what he was talking about. But since they loved listening to this kind of great truth, he didn’t mind telling them more.
It was kind of weird that no unusual phenomenon was triggered so far.
Lu Changsheng couldn’t help but wonder.
Was there already some kind of immunity against Lu Changsheng’s lectures?
Or was it still brewing?
Lu Changsheng quickly snapped to attention since there were more questions waiting for him.
Since a hundred thousand disciples had a hundred thousand questions. Lu Changsheng naturally couldn’t solve all of them.
He simply picked those who were pleasing to his eyes.
In other words, Lu Changsheng picked those who were good-looking. After all, this was a world where appearance was valued the most.
In fact, Lu Changsheng once wondered—
Why was this world so different from those he once read about in web novels?
He thought the most powerful cultivators should earn the most respect.
But as it turned out, appearance was everything.
There was even a time when Lu Changsheng had the idea of turning his story into a novel. The synopsis would be like this; This is a world where appearance means power. There is no such cliche like breaking off an engagement and taking revenge, but only unbelievably amazing spells for improving appearance.
Good-looking people, good-looking masters, good-looking great masters, good-looking kings, good-looking emperors, and a good-looking supreme monarch.
The teenager, Lu Changsheng, transmigrated to this world and became the most good-looking supreme monarch.
His story starts here.
Lu Changsheng’s mind started to drift away again.
He had to quickly pull his thoughts back to the present to answer more questions.
It was now getting dark outside of the Hall of Discussion of Dao.
Upon noticing this, Lu Changsheng announced, “The lecture will end in an hour.”
The lecture had already been going on for more than eight hours. During this time, Lu Changsheng didn’t even take a sip of water.
Even though he wasn’t too tired, he still started feeling quite bored now.
Most of the questions they asked were dull. They were always about how to cultivate and how to improve their abilities.
No one ever asked how to improve their appearance.
It’s no wonder most of them were still Outer Sect disciples after so many years.
At this time, an immediate disciple stood up. He looked at Lu Changsheng.
This person had an extraordinary aura around him. As the disciple was surrounded by purple bolts of lightning, he looked quite formidable.
However, he wasn’t really a looker. Without the purple lightning, Lu Changsheng wouldn’t have noticed him in the crowd.
“Eldest Senior Brother, I have a question.”
“Go ahead.”
“Senior Brother, as cultivators, we keep fighting against heaven, the earth, as well as the people. We work so hard on the path of cultivation, but very few cultivators have actually ascended to the celestial world. I don’t have supreme talent, hence, it cost me a hundred years to reach Nascent Soul’s middle stage, with that said, I’ve been stuck here for two hundred years now. Even though reaching the Nascent Soul stage seems to be quite an achievement, but I’m afraid I’ll never be able to ascend to the celestial world.
“Although I’m an Immediate disciple, I know I won’t be able to succeed no matter how hard I try. But what about these Core disciples, Inner Sect disciples, Outer Sect disciples, what about all the living creatures in this world? What can they do?
“According to the Saint, there are fifty ways for Heaven and Earth to develop and operate. However, there are only forty-nine types of destinies. Please tell us, Senior Brother, what shall we do to capture the only chance to escape our destinies?!”
The disciple kneeled down as he sincerely asked.
At this time, the rest of the disciples all followed him and went down on their knees. They kowtowed to Lu Changsheng because this question touched their hearts.
This question was actually quite simple.
He told Lu Changsheng that he was an Immediate disciple in the Zenith Land. Although reaching the middle stage of the Nascent Soul costed him a hundred years, his progress has been becoming increasingly slower. In the following two hundred years, he basically made no progress at all.
As an Immediate disciple in the Zenith Land, his chance of ascending was already slim to none.
Then what about all these people?
The path of cultivation was extremely rugged and rough.
What could they do?
This was a very good question!
Lu Changsheng didn’t answer immediately. He needed some time to think.
After a while, Lu Changsheng’s mouth opened, “As heaven keeps vigor through movement…”
This was just the beginning—
At this exact moment, the stars in the sky suddenly gave off incredibly bright light.
The long brewing unusual phenomenon he was waiting for finally occurred.
