- Chapter 3 - In My Previous Life I Was a Saint, but Now I Want to Cut Corners Chapter 3
My ultimate goal is to live as quiet and inconspicuously as possible.
However, I do come from a noble family with royal blood. Also, my parents romance story is insanely well known, well enough for there to be even a sappy opera about it, so that alone already makes things complicated for me.
Yesterday I was incredibly proud of all of this… Well, actually, I still am. It just makes my situation trying not to stand out a bit more complicated. While I love my parents to death, I wish they had a little more of a common romance story to them.
Not only that, I was gifted with my parents good looks, so my appearance also stands out compared to most people. While it would seem like I’m bragging about my beauty that was gifted to me by my parents, I actually would have wished for that not to be the case due to it making me stand out even more than already.
Renarai’s blonde and silky hair has a natural threaded ripple that gently flows down her back, inherited from her father.
While on her mother’s side, she inherited the rare tanzanite eyes that were only within the royal bloodline. With bright long luminescent golden blonde lashes, which would reflect purple or blue hues shimmering from her eyes, changing depending from where you were facing her.
With a perfectly straight nose that was not too high or too low, with small, natural, light pink lips. That could captivate any passersby with the smallest of smiles.
Saying that all of her harmonized flawlessly in order to create one of the world’s most beautiful human beings would be an understatement.
Not many people have actually seen Renaria. She is a child of the noble birth who has yet to reach adulthood, so she could not attend any social gatherings. However, since the Marquess of Sheridan’s emblem is a rose, most people understood that each family member within the Marquess bloodline was considerably beautiful.
It does help that my older brother, who is about 5 years older than myself, has already started school with my mother’s appearance. Both of them shared silky black hair and tanzanite eyes, making them stand out for their beauty. So hopefully, my brother has already diverted the attention of our eye color away from me at school.
“What should I do….?”
As I whispered this, Arthur gently held my hand.
“Don’t worry about it too much Rena, I’ll be there with you. No one will hurt you at school. I promise.”
I wasn’t anxious about being hurt at school. The thought didn’t really cross my mind. I was more focused about not standing out in order to avoid a similar situation from my previous life. Still, I couldn’t exactly tell him that.
I was also worried I had hurt Aerial’s feelings. It looked like I passed out from the shock of receiving her as a guardian spirit since she is considered unpopular. While the reality actually being that it was the sudden flux of memories that filled my mind.
Those memories were so vivid and concrete that it just overloaded my emotions. I also need to consider that maybe those were dreams since, in this life, I’ve never heard of magic shortening one’s life. Also, I don’t remember seeing any guardian spirits in that world. It’s impossible to use magic here without one, so it has to be a dream?
In relief, I grabbed my brother’s hand and smiled back to ease his worries.
“Thank you, big brother. I’m looking forward to going to school with you too.”
Even if it was a dream or maybe it was another life in another world, I’m just a regular wind mage now. So there is no reason to worry about sacrificing my life for another.
I do need to figure out how strong my magic is. I’m hopeful for a lower to middle-grade magic power, but I am a daughter of noble blood. I do need to consider this, since I do not wish to be an embarrassment to my family by having an inferior magic power compared to my peers. So I should aim for good grades in the academy instead of magic power.
I suppose starting tomorrow I’ll need to start listening to my tutors more seriously. I should also ask about the events of my previous life to see if it really happened or not. But now is not the time. I need to rest; my head is killing me.
I needed to test how strong I was, so I waited a few days before sneaking out. I found one of my more comfortable and easy to move around in dresses and snuck into the woods outside my house.
“Well, I guess I should see how powerful I actually am.”
Since I’m a noble, I have a specially made wand which has jewels embedded that are the same color as my eyes. The tanzanite gems were lavishly placed in the handle of the wand.
“I didn’t use any wands in my previous life, but…”
I did happen to find my previous life in some old history books, So those must be memories. However, that kingdom that I used to live in has been long gone for at least a thousand years. It’s been completely wiped off the map and now is only a legend to the people today. What’s strange is I couldn’t find any record of my Fiance Prince Marius. It’s like he completely vanished from history.
I know since Marius was only the second prince, so it’s not like he’d be named in the royalty line’s posterity. Still, I couldn’t help myself from trying to find out what happened to him.
“Well… It has been a thousand years. Not like I can actually do anything about it. So for now I’ll drop it.”
Even though there was nothing more I could do currently to find out more about him. It still made me feel extremely sad, regardless. I felt some sense of relief that I’m no longer being conflicted about whether or not It was a dream or memories.
“For now, I think I’ll try dropping a single leaf from that tree.”
I held out my wand and focused on a single leaf. I should be casting a spell, but I haven’t adequately studied magic, so nothing was happening. So, I decided to use the magic in my body, like in my past life, to release magic. But I did take into account that doing it this way did directly affect my life force and only used a little.
“Yeah… This amount is perfect.”
As soon as I released the magic within my body, a large tornado flew out of the tip of my wand.
“W-what?”
The tornado left a destructive path in front of me, not only were the leaves blown away, a couple of trees had also been uplifted from the ground
“Ehhh?!”
I could not believe what I was seeing. It left me completely stunned. I couldn’t move to save my life.
“Wow! That’s amazing!”
I heard a small high pitched voice sorta like a child come towards me from behind.
“W-Whos There?”
I turned around nervously and saw a small child-like creature floating in the air.
“Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeh?!”
