Chapter 34 Team Up

As usual, the archery training stopped at 3 pm. Then, it was time for Zhao Gao and the others to go for their daily wash-up.

When he reached the stream, Zhao Gao took out his large saber. He raised his right hand, closed his eyes to mobilize all his strength.

“Slash!”

With all his strength, he swung the saber, from way above his head to his waist level.

Zhao Gao tried his best to stop the saber at a certain point.

As he was using too much strength, he could not control the force of the saber’s descent, causing the saber to tilt.

However, Zhao Gao was not discouraged. He continued to raise his saber once more, and closed his eyes to mobilize all his strength once again.

“Slash!”

It was the same as before. Zhao Gao could not hold back his strength in time, and failed to make the saber stop exactly at the position he wanted.

In Zhao Gao’s mind, this slash was a move that mobilized all his strength. He did not hold back at all.

What he needed to do, was actually to do what Hong Qigong had taught Guo Jing, in “The Legend of the Condor Heroes”.

He should be using 10 percent of his strength, and yet retain 13 percent. Only by doing that could he control the landing point of the saber.

“Slash!”

“Slash!”

Each time, Zhao Gao needed to prepare himself mentally for about a minute, before mobilizing all his strength to swing the saber down.

Zhao Gao’s strength was totally exhausted after just 30 minutes of training. His arms were aching as well. All these were stopping him from practicing However, Zhao Gao ignored all these. When his right hand started to hurt, he would switch to his left hand; when he was tired, he would rest for 10 minutes, before continuing the practice.

Laziness was mankind’s worst enemy. If they could not even survive the first day, how could they go on living in this cruel Infinite Space?

Not to even mention “Evolution”!

After training for one and a half hours, Zhao Gao finally stopped to rest when he felt that he could no longer raise his arms.

After stopping, Zhao Gao opened the system interface and added one freedom stats point to his Essence and Magic stats.

He was using his stats points to relieve the fatigue in his arms.

After enduring the various sensations caused by the stats upgrade, Zhao Gao opened his eyes and rotated his wrists to feel the state of his arms.

“It’s alright. Although the pain has not been completely alleviated, most of it has recovered. My arms are only trembling slightly now. After dinner and some rest, it shouldn’t delay my training tonight,” Zhao Gao estimated after getting a feel of the condition of his arms.

After thinking about this, Zhao Gao jumped into the stream and began to wash up.

After washing up and putting on his armor, Zhao Gao returned to the main platoon and followed everyone back to the field.

Then, they were dismissed for dinner.

After getting his food, Zhao Gao was just sitting down by the wall when an uninvited guest arrived.

Zhao Gao took a glance and saw that it was that woman again. He turned his gaze away and continued eating his dinner, ignoring her. Although Zhao Gao had ignored the woman, she was obviously not going to ignore him. Otherwise, why would she come over?

The woman quickly sat beside Zhao Gao, and told him her purpose for coming over.

“Hey, let’s form a team!” she suggested.

Zhao Gao was stunned. He did not understand what was going on in this woman’s mind. He looked at the woman and said, “If I remember correctly, the leaders said to only team up if the cooperation will help both parties, right?”

“But what can you help me with that ability of yours, that would drag me down? Or will you help in solving the problems faced by most males?” As he spoke, Zhao Gao looked at the woman’s entire body and finally stopped at her small cup size.

“What a pity!” Zhao Gao shook his head regretfully.

The woman flew into a rage, on seeing Zhao Gao’s humiliating reaction. Her face was red with embarrassment and her eyes were burning with anger. She pointed at Zhao Gao angrily, “You…”

“You’re obscene and shameless. Do you think everyone thinks as dirty as you do?”

“Whoa, with that little strength of yours, it’s difficult for me not to think that way,” Zhao Gao replied.

“If that’s what you think, you can leave now. I won’t team up with a ‘vase’.” Zhao Gao continued, with disdain, and began to focus on the food in his bowl once again.

The woman was furious when she heard this. She thought angrily, “I haven’t even blamed you for having a dirty mind, yet you’re already despising me?!”

The thought of that made her even more angry.

But when she remembered her reason for coming to Zhao Gao, the woman actually suppressed her unhappiness.

“Inhale, exhale.” The woman took a deep breath and calmed herself down before speaking again,”You should still remember the background of the mission here. It is an ancient battlefield!”

Zhao Gao asked, “Yes, and then?”

“In such a cold battlefield, if you don’t have a trustworthy teammate to entrust your back to, the danger will increase exponentially.”

“On the battlefield, no one knows how long it will take for a battle to last. Humans will be tired at one point in time! After you are severely exhausted, are you sure that you can still dodge arrows and counterattack?”

“At this point in time, wouldn’t the chance of survival be greater if we have a trusted teammate? And the two of us can support each other and take turns for one’s stamina to recover?”

After this long speech, the woman said no more.

She gave Zhao Gao time to think about her words, while she finally started on her dinner.

For a moment, this small corner was unusually quiet.

Zhao Gao had to admit that what the woman said made sense.

With his current strength, it was a fool’s dream to say that he could definitely guarantee his own survival.

Just as the woman had said, it would be impossible for him not to be tired at one point in time. When he was tired, he would lose focus. And if he was distracted on the battlefield, he would either be hit by a stray arrow or be hit by some heavy equipment of

war.

Instead of wasting his energy looking for someone else, he might as well accept someone who had initiated, like this woman.

“I admit that you’ve convinced me somewhat. But I have a question. Why should I team up with you?” After saying that, Zhao Gao stared at her intently.

However, the woman appeared very confident despite Zhao Gao’s stare.

“I knew you would ask that.”
