“Do you think I’ll believe you? Since you schemed and delivered yourself to my doorstep today, I’ll finally grant your wish!” Tang Rongling laughed as he suddenly grabbed her arm forcefully and threw her onto the bed.
Gu Qingxin was taken aback by his behavior. Her body crashed heavily into the bed. She tried to sit up immediately, but he was like a mountain pinning her down.
Gu Qingxin flailed her arms, desperately trying to push him away.
“Tang Rongling, let go of me! Or I’ll scream for help!” Gu Qingxin glared at him furiously.
“You better scream louder so that everyone in the Gu family can see what a sl*t you are!” Tang Rongling was filled with inexplicable anger at the thought of her behavior.
Gu Qingxin struggled as if her life depended on it. However, her strength could not match that of a man’s. Especially Tang Rongling, who had been trained in martial arts since he was young and was in excellent physical condition. Most men would be no match for him, much less Gu Qingxin.
“Tang Rongling, let go of me! I really didn’t come here for you! Let go of me right now!” Gu Qingxin struggled to break free of his grip. She could only scream and hope that he would regain his rationality.
There was a click as the bedroom door was pushed open. A gentle and sweet female voice rang out, “Rongling, I heard that you were drunk, so I warmed some milk for you. It’ll help you sleep better… Ah!”
The bedroom light was switched on with a muffled thud, followed by a girl’s surprised scream. This managed to finally stop the man’s behavior.
Gu Qingxin angrily pushed the man away even though he had stopped moving. She practically crawled off of the bed in her attempt to escape. Her hands covered the top two buttons of her blouse that he had undone. She resembled a wounded animal trying to get away from its hunter.
“Qingxin… Rongling… You guys…” Gu Yunci stared at the man standing before her, as she looked like a deer in the headlights. Crystal-clear tears rolled down her soft cheeks as she bit down on her lips and her thin body trembled non-stop.
When Tang Rongling saw her tears, he approached her with his heart aching. He reached out and pulled her small frame into his embrace and apologized to her, “I’m sorry, Yunci. I don’t know how she ended up in my room too… I think I… I think I’ve been drugged.”
“Drugged? Rongling, Qingxin wouldn’t do such a thing. There must be a misunderstanding,” Yunci replied as though she was afraid that Tang Rongling would vent his anger on the innocent Gu Qingxin. Her tiny hands gripped his shirt as she gazed at him pitifully.
Tang Rongling did not speak, instead, he frowned deeply. There was nothing wrong throughout his social gathering, the problem must have happened when he drank the glass of water upon arriving home.
“Gu Qingxin, you really are full of surprises,” he thought.
As Gu Qingxin made her escape, she coincidentally bumped into her father, Gu Huaian, and Zhou Mantong, who were making their way upstairs. Gu Huaian frowned deeply after noticing the state she was in.
“What’s going on? What is everyone doing upstairs?” At that moment, Old Madam Gu ‘coincidentally’ entered the house from outside as well.
“Mother, Qingxin is back here to collect their living expenses,” Zhou Mantong replied as she instantly turned around to go back downstairs and took Old Madam Gu’s arm lovingly.
Old Madam Gu stared in shock at the girl standing on the stairs who was in such a sorry state. Her eyes filled with disgust as she pointed at Gu Qingxin and scolded, “Gu Huaian, you should take care of your own daughter. She doesn’t look like the lady of an influential family at all. She looks no different from someone who sells soup for a living.”
“Mother, please don’t be angry,” Zhou Mantong comforted the old lady. As she stared at Gu Qingxin, her gaze was also filled with displeasure and contempt.
